hoe can you be sure that the sel applies to the right item, eg meat, as some sels seem to be pretty ambiguous in themselves?

The barcode on the item should be on the sel, I think this is the same for meat. I don't normally check the barcodes if the SEL s in front of the product and the product matches the description on the SEL then I assume that the SEL price is what I should pay.

Hi, I have broken my R&R duck today............ whoo heee !!!!

2 packs of Argentinian rump steak

I was offered the R&R after trotting after CS person to meet the manager in the aisle and the mistake was confirmed. No problem at all.

I'm addicted to this site now but it seems that I'm not alone

1st six digits of the barcode identify the product

so the first 6 digits on the sel barcode match the first 6 digits on the product?

Theres a link to the updated scanner locations in every Post 1 of these discussion threads.....here it is though

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/...&postcount=176

and the actual thread is located here..........

Apparently there's a bulletin out on the Tescos network advising them to catch the CCTV footage of people returning Quality Street tins for a refund, espeically in lots of two. Management are advised to issue a ban on site, apparently.

Do you have insider knowledge, Sandybrag?
Perhaps Spa or Constantine could confirm or deny this.
It seems to me that anyone, even those not in the 'know' could check their receipt, discover the charging error, & go to C/S.

Imagine- pensioner buys for Xmas prezzies, finds the mistake, goes to C/S, pleasantly surprised at her good luck getting her money back & gets to keep the choccies. A stroppy Tesco employee stops her at the door and tells her never to darken their doors again! Why? she asks. You're a serial abuser of our refund policy!
    Could that happen d'you think?

It wasn't an overcharge they were going through cheaper - the only people going to cs were those in stores where they didn't go through cheaper. They didn't get r&r they returned the chocs and got their money back.

Same in a Metro near me on Friday, although the cashier had to put the adjustment through manually. Shame  .

Why do bigger Tesco have the minimum spend as £50?
