Tesco misprice discussion area part 12

Talking of the DPA, does anyone know the score if T asks for your name and address for their records (!!) when you R&R.
Are they allowed to insist ???0 -
I have never been asked for my name address when I've had R&R, but I would have no probs giving it if they did. I know when I worked for another company we had refund slips that had to be filled out and we would ask for details, if the customer refused we just wrote refused on it. Usually names and addresses are asked for to prevent staff misuse of the refund system, e.g pretend refunds and pocket the money.0

cotsvale wrote:I phoned TS about this a few months ago and was told that the shop do not have to sell it to you at the lower price. Someone on here said if you've bought it already a contract has been made ....TS said it is a grey area because displaying misleading prices is wrong and that a shop could be fined £2000 per item ...they never are ....just get a ticking off but this is what the Tesco policy on R&R is all about.. keeping Tesco on the sweet side of TS.
Nice to know TS are consistent.:)
Their announcement yesterday seems to indicate that they will be targeting their resources differently from now on. So this might change the attitude of some retailers if they think it's less likely that TS will bother with them on the mispricing issue. It's this that makes me wish I'd explored my final point further about where an advertised refund policy fits in with the contract to buy. If retailers attitudes do harden and TS won't take things further this could be quite important for consumers.
Quite sure you're right about T's policy. It may not be consistently applied but if TS come a knocking they can point to what's probably the most generous 'policy' around.0 -

Had a quick read through this and there appears to be no legal justification for them to store your details, other than if you or they were sending letters between yourself and the store, other trivial things, and criminal activities.
I don't think Tesco's could legally uphold storing your details unless you have committed a criminal activity?.
Also, if you suspect an organisation of holding your picture/details could you not ask why they are doing this and for what purposes?. I'd love to know how they would respond in writing. Maybe worth persuing this..0 -

Some stores seem to ask for it and some dont.
Last week I did an r&r for 2 packs of Doritos and was asked for my details, whereas in another store I have had over £10 of meat and not been asked. Different managers seem to have different rules.

If you think they ARE passing info about you from store to store, send 'em a cheque for 1000 pence and ask them to supply you with ALL the info they have stored on you, under their legal obligations under the DPA. Wil cost them a fortune to comply and may just deter stores from being tempted to do this in the future (If indeed they actually are, of course).I spelt my username wrongly on purpose, by the way!0

They can take my particulars down any time.. (do I get to call them filthpigs again? ;> ).Edindevon wrote:I'm vegetarian, ..... I saw they had the old SEL with Fosters packs of 4 cans, 2 for £6.00, which would have been an easy R&R, but I don't drink it
I should hope not - it's cleared with isinglass (fish guts). Not a vegetaraian beer. Stick with the becks.. :>ॐ Signature Removed by Someones Mum. ॐ0 -
Classic! Bought Tesco Haddock Fillets last night as it had a Try Me Free sticker on it. It states 'peel back to reveal how to claim a full refund' on ths sticker. Just done that and the writing is completely unreadable!! Anyone got a readable one and can post up what it actually says? TIA!I spelt my username wrongly on purpose, by the way!0

Right! But there's only so much Tesco 24p own brand bread you can eat (with your Scottish sirloin steak, Welsh traditionally reared lamb cutlets, etc). Even the ducks are beginning to turn their noses up at it round here.

One animal's nightmare is another animal's heaven. My beloved schnauzer thanks Mr T from the bottom of his canine heart. Finest beef for him last night.I spelt my username wrongly on purpose, by the way!0
