What you replied was exactly what I wanted to know though. Like yeah loads of stores are gonna have items mispriced, so if one was able to locate the same item, allbeit an expensive one such as an xbox, in numerous stores, they shoudn't have a problem doing this?
So was my reply
Its not without its problems. Taxiphil is the expert.Who or what was I before you came in to my life

As I understand what he said once you've paid you've accepted the price and don't have a legal right to refund. But TS could hammer them for incorrect pricing. (If they have the time and the money). So I wouldn't describe them as being generous. They've either got a good Customer Relations policy or they hope it will stop you from reporting them.
I've lifted this off the TS website from a Q&A section
"I want to purchase a three piece suite that is on display in a shop. The shop refused to sell it to me. Does a shop have the right to refuse to sell goods?"
Yes! Goods on display in a shop are there for you to make an offer to buy, the shop is not obliged to accept your offer. The same applies where goods have been labelled with the wrong price; the shop does not have to sell at that price.
I phoned TS about this a few months ago and was told that the shop do not have to sell it to you at the lower price. Someone on here said if you've bought it already a contract has been made ....TS said it is a grey area because displaying misleading prices is wrong and that a shop could be fined £2000 per item ...they never are ....just get a ticking off but this is what the Tesco policy on R&R is all about.. keeping Tesco on the sweet side of TS.0 -

oh yuk!! that's really extreme.0 -
sarahg1969 wrote:I had an issue with some Finest ready meals last week. CS refused refund on the basis that the discount had already been applied to the SEL price (SEL said £1 discount deducted at checkout) and I had simply misread the label. To me, the price was unequivocal. SEL price LESS £1.00 at checkout.
I telephoned HO, who said they would take the matter up with the store, heard nothing, so phoned last Friday. They had no record of my earlier call! However, said that it could be that someone is dealing and has not put it on their system, so give them another day.
Today, I phoned again, and again no record of either of my calls last week!
Since last week, I have discovered that the SELs have now been amended to read "Save £1 when you by two", which I suspect was supposed to be the offer all along. However, the provisions manager misled me, by saying that each item was indeed reduced by £1, and that the deduction had already been made within the price.
HO today confirmed that the prices I paid are in fact the normal prices, and not reduced prices, and that they would speak to the store, and come abck to me.
I then reminded them that I have the SELs (they were mistakenly put in my bag with my shopping) and that I have referred the matter of the misleading pricing to TS.
The lady then said that, as TS are acting for me, they cannot deal with my overcharge query until that has been dealt with.
I tried to explain that TS are not acting for me. They have no interest in my overcharge or the matter between Tesco and myself. I simply pointed out a misleading price indication to them, and they will do with that as they see fit. It's nothing to do with me.
In any event, how will I know if and when it's been dealt with, so I can get Tesco to deal with my overcharge problem?
She said that there's nothing she can do now that TS are involved, and that was that.
TS don't care about my overcharge; they only care about any potential criminal activities. I've no doubt I won't even find out if they do anything about the SELs (which are now gone in any event, although I have retained 3 of them).
I know it's only £11-odd, but it's really niggling me now.
What next? Anyone have any ideas?
TIA

No I didnt, I had already got 24 cans on R&R in another store earlier so thought I would cut my losses and pay for the 16 cans I had and get out without a banning, I could tell thats what was going to happen, call it my spidey sense tingling or whatever, I didnt think it would help my story against the other store if I was banned from another store on the same day just a few hours later!
I've got plans for that store now though!Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0 -
Monster_Deals wrote:Surely if you have received R&R (£200ish) on a PSP, Tesco's are minus one console and the customer has paid nothing.
If you then return the console later for a refund, Tesco's have the console back but they are £200ish down.
Therefore Tesco have suffered a loss.
My understanding from the OP's original post was that he had already received R&R on the 2 PSP's, therefore by refunding money on the consoles Tesco are out of pocket.
The fact that Tesco has rewarded you for its mistake (the £200) does not affect either your statutory rights or your right to use Tesco's 28 day policy to return unwanted items. The item has been bought and paid for by you. The R&R has nothing to do with that. Also, Tesco were already down under their own policy. Returning the item for a full refund after an R&R does not put Tesco in a worse situation. The loss, as you put it, has nothing to do with the act of taking the item back for a full refund. Tesco gives you the retail value for the console, they have not lost anything as a result of this action. See?In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?
It's time to make that change.

Broke_Student wrote:As of today I am more glad than ever Tescos is getting hit by R&R's. They deserve it. Their signs really are misleading and worse than other super markets.
For example, today in Sainsburys I saw a sign reading
"2 for £2.50 on selected salads*.
*Salads on offer marked on pack"
And sure enough, selected salads has a 2 for £2.50 SEL AND Sticker.
The Tesco equivalent is:
"Sensations 3 for £3".
Some flavours on the shelf will have a yellow SEL with 3 for £3. Few flavours, selling at the same price, will not have a yellow SEL and not scan under the offer. Hundreds end up paying full price on all 3 packs.
This results in a shi**y battle with CS who give you "but those are not included in the offer anyway. No overcharge."
And it gets worse. They remove the SEL and do not replace it so they carry on overcharging for the length of the promotion. Even a few people who may have noticed that a few items which would logically be under offer, but not buy as the individual SELs conflict would get scammed after the first R&R.
I had a CS woman refuse to give me R&R on the Covent garden soups because one of the ones I got wasnt in the offer, when I pointed out the big sign that just read "NEW COVENT GARDEN SOUPS 2 for £2.50" with no mention of exclusions she said that it was down to me to check the individual SELs to see if they are yellow or not. I told her that was rubbish and the only sign I read was the one that said they are 2 for £2.50! It ended up having to get the manager of CS to agree with me although even he said I should be checking the SELs (like I do anything BUT check SELs in Tescos)
I told him I thought the sign was very misleading and asked how many other people have been overcharged because of it (in front of a big queue of people at CS desk) and he said he didnt know but would look into getting the sign changed - A week later its still the same.Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0 -
Which soups do not give the discount?
