Thanks Jamesiebabie, especially for the "I thought it would take the pound off at the till" Very clever.

Personally I couldn't feel comfortable with argueing for an r&r when the product is clearly displaying the price. but I agree it's still an r&r

I bet there are a few people out there who find it difficult to argue over a penny?, the rowenta iron backs up my point of view (I say that because my local store still has the big yellow Sels displaying £14.97)
  • I noticed a few expensive items that seemed to be out by a penny but I didn't have the balls to do it, especially with my first R&R.
:T Benjamin has won!!! Am soooo proud. Thank you to everyone who agreed my baby was the cutiest. Want to go round and hug everyone who voted, it means so much to me!:A

expensive items?, oh well thats different !!

    LCD TV?, SAT NAV?

I am actually bored of r&r for small items (not worth the hassle for a joint of meat) I am only chasing items to a minimum value of £20

Go on be a devil. We'll be able to iron out the points on this forum. Every little helps. In for a penny, in for a pound. Sorry for the pun.

please help. I shop in tesco all the time and I don't know how you do this RR thingie. firstly how do you remember what the price of of every item to know if you ahve been overpriced?

Secondly if you have been overcharged do they automatically do this RR ( I assune this is refund and replace) or do you ahve to argue - I don't do confrontation.

Pointers on how to start would be great

Go to the misprices thread make a small list of items that would interest you and pop round to your local store and check them out. If the store has price checking scanners then check the price before going through the till. If you are overcharged at the till, go to cs desk after paying and tell them you have been overcharged. If they go to check the shelf label - go with them. I don't mention their policy unless they only offer the difference, quite often you will automatically be offered the full refund. If you are offered just the difference then point out their policy. You might not find misprices every time you shop but you'll get better at spotting them with practise. Good luck.

I usually go in with a shopping list and write down the prices next to the item and cross check it after going through the till. Others use PDA's [I'm not worthy!]. Once the items are paid for it is cotractual and they should give you the R&R without any problems. Sometimes thay can be awkward though. sometimes they try and palm you off with the difference. As soon as they do this, just point out the sign behind them and the last three lines. That should do the trick. What ever you do don't mention R&R. Just state that you have been overcharged.

    I hope that helps.

Firstly I would like to say that I think the majority of us on here "don't do confrontation" ( although some are quite unshaken apparently if/when confrontation does occur ;) )
What has put fire in my belly as such, and probably has with others is usually the way that tentative first time approaches to cs desk with a "I think I've been overcharged" results in some shocking behaviour by the cs staff, and their manner and tone of voice.

The first time I ever went to the cs desk KNOWING about R&R, the sel mysteriously disappeared when they went to check it out.
On another occasion, I bought a book and only at home found I had been overcharged. When I went back in later with the book ( with a price sticker on) and the receipt showing "Book" at a higher price, it now scanned at the lower price, and the cs woman virtually accused me a bringing in a receipt for a different book - only when I asked to speak to the manager did she begrudgingly pay up.

MOST cs are polite and professional. Some treat you as if you are taking the money from THEIR purse. Although when I have a bad experience - thankfully so far, not often - I feel a bit shaken up, and feel I've lost my nerve, it also somehow makes me resolved to go back and get something so clear-cut and irrefutable, that they will regret ever messing with me in the first place :D
