I think I will give R+R a miss till after Christmas. My profile is just to high. Mind you I got up this morning took some R+R PJs of my daughter then ironed with my R+R iron have made lunch with R+R chicken made out of an R+R cookbook then wrapped some R+R Christmas presents. So have done very well recently.

was in my local Tesco earlier and I was near CS when they did an announcement over the tannoy for a "code 9 to CS"

Shortly after that a crowd of scanner clad employees descended on the cd/dvds.

Anyone any idea what a code 9 is? or any of the other codes?

Hi. Found this site yesterday and couldn't believe how many money saving tips I found.

While out doing my shopping found this -

Fresh British Lamb Rump Steaks SEL £11.99 down to £11.49kg

Some of the packs were priced at the £11.99 rate so I bought 2 (£11.78 in total).

When I went to CS and explained the difference I was told I would have to speak to a manager, after waiting five minutes one arrived. She tried to tell me that R+R does not apply to meat products as they are individually priced and that the price difference actually meant I hadn't paid enough.

After I explained in detail how the difference worked in their favour and that the T+Cs on the till point do not state any exclusions she said that she would give me the refund and the steaks this time but would not be able to it again.

£11.78 refund on my first try, well pleased.

Thanks to everyone who has given advice in this thread.

Constantine, Spa? How does this happen - aren't the scanners and tills connected? Would appreciate your help here - thanks.

I had this situation a little while ago, this was caused by an equipment failure meaning that price changes were not transmitted to the self scan tills. The equipment that failed is among the most vital in the store and was fixed within a relatively short space of time - but not quick enough for us to notice that things were askew.

The self scan and the tills all operate from the same database however are udpated in a different way and at a different time.

BTW, the Quality Street, Celebrations, Heroes, etc. ARE now scanning and SEL'd at '2 for £5' (as I found out at some cost today!).

The offer has gone down by £1 per 2 packs, valid till next week (worth a look on the 25th though!).

Must be a thing local to that store, never heard of a code 9....

There are a couple of tannoy announcements that are the same the company over such as "Get the hell out the store is on fire" or "Good looking chapess / Chap on Aisle 15...go and have a look" but nothing codewise...:D

I have noticed that many posters are mentioning that they have "seen lots of scanners about" or "loads of suits with price checkers".

For information, the larger stores can have anything upto 18 PDA's that can do a number of functions including stock control, waste, reductions and the pricing. These are obviously used by many different departments at all times of the day.

It may be worth bearing in mind that just because you see a member of staff / management with a scanner it may not be anything to do with pricing at all....in fact the %age likelihood is actually quite slim.

My local store is undergoing some type of stock take which is why there are a lot of "scanner clad" employees about.
