    Here is this weeks chart:

    15Dec10.jpg

Congratulations to our joint SoTW Brighton Belle and Safesound with outstanding losses this week.

Well done to all the losers and stsers this week, and commiserations to the gainers.

Special congratulations to Alliwantistosave for hitting 7st this week.

As we all know it's temptation alley for the next couple of weeks - with food, drink, cold temperatures and lurgy around every corner. However I will continue to do the chart for those who wish to post a result or an sts.

This weeks quote is from Martin Luther King, Jr

"We must accept finite disappointment, but we must never lose infinite hope."
  • Coming back to Slimming World!

Hi all - I used slimming world in the past with great success! However, after moving to Canada I have fallen off the bandwagon and I don't know what any of the free foods are over here as most food is quite different! Does anyone have the password for this week so I can get the north american info???

I don't know how much I weigh as I don't own a scale (which is good and bad!) but I know it's more than I want! I am 5'5 and I would reckon around 165-170 lbs based on the way my clothes are fitting! I would like to be back to 135 lbs so about 30 lbs to lose. We have a gym in our condo building so no excuses - we even have a swimming pool so I can do laps around that. My biggest problem is food - we eat out A LOT. Because we live in downtown Vancouver we don't have a big supermarket like Sainsburys (oh how I long for Sainsburys) so I am forced to go to about 2-3 different places to buy everything I need. It's very frustrating. I am hoping having a list of syn values and free foods would really help out!

Nice to meet you all! x

BettyB, as you hate it so much, don't do it. If you'd prefer Christmas in your own home with your OH, your pets and your own things around you, then just make it clear that that's what you'll be doing. .

The thing is we spend most of the time at Xmas with OH's family so I can't/don't really complain cos I am so grateful to them treating me like one of their own

    WELL DONE ALLIWANT!!!! :j:j:beer:

And well done BB and safesound for SOTW:T

and big thanks to Fred :) for the chart (even tho my stats look pitiful... )

Welcome FStone, I am on and off SW at the mo - can't seem to stick with anything right now. There is a SW-specific thread that you might find helpful for syns and general advice here: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2829582 - but of course you are also welcome to stick around here too (I tend to float in and out of the SW thread for tips and inspiration but spend most of my time here for moral support and fun times!)

BTW did anyone see the apprentice last night? Amazing episode!:rotfl: Stella to win!!!! :D

Re xmas - it has to be what you want it to be, forget the demands and the shops begging you to spend, it is about family and being thankful, the year has been tough for a lot of us but at the end of the day on xmas day raise a glass with a smile that we made it, it made us stronger and better people and we won;)

I went once car filled with xmas presents 450 miles up the road to the in laws for xmas and lovely as it was to have a bustling house would never do it again, the stress of trying to get 2 kids in the car with remembering everything they needed from home plus their gifts etc was too much and from then vowed never to do it again and have not, sure the inlaws feel aggrieved and would wish their grand kids with them but they have a car, can come down and do not have to consider kids, just themselves so it is easier for them, they choose not to:D

My youngest likes habit, routine, likes to know what he is doing and when and why so we are better off here, the 4 of us, a customer at work asked me what I wanted for xmas and I said I already have it, my 3 fav people (OH and 2 kids) are happy, healthy, safe, loved and secure that is what it is all about not the latest gadget and gizmo, masses of calories and hang overs:D

Re calories at xmas and over eating, getting drunk, having masses o f calories intake, just think like my youngest does now, you can have whatever you want, just have the one or a couple, you do not need to eat the whole cake, or the whole box of biscuits or masses of sweets, have a few, enjoy them and move on to something healthier, you will not feel left out, I have a huge hang up with white bread which is creeping back into my eating again and have cut it down from half a loaf in one go to 6 slices to 4 slices to one slice and I play games with it, I will have half of the slice and then the other half save it for later or just take a bite and then keep it knowing I can have the rest, stupid I know but at least it is portion control and I get to have a slice.

Like biscuits, I can have 2, it takes some doing but I have 2 and try to think positive, I had what I wanted but I did not go crazy.

Silly daft mind games but they work, so long as you get what you want I think the mind settles back down and is relatively happy rather than the denial and turning into a battle and creating a binge through thoughts of feeling deprived.

The having what you want but making it healthier version of it always works, it does not have to be whipped double cream when it can be creme fraise or fromage frais,it doesn't have to be butter, lard, grease, oils, it does not have to be full fat when it can be light version etc
