Hi lovely peeps
I doubt very much if anyone remembers me as it has been over two years since I posted on MSE (especially on earlier threads of this very Lose Weight .... via which I had great success :T). Today I needed a recipe from one of the other forums and just happened to notice the last post from grannynise which caught my eye and I thought blimey that rings a bell, so I've just read through the last few pages and was so pleased to see some old names are still here imparting their more than valuable advice and support...such as BB, Beanie, Victory, Vixarooni (I still refer to your bra measuring advice) and efrieze amongst others no doubt. I've really missed the banter and friendlyness of this particular thread and I hope that you are all keeping well.
For all the other lovely folk here whom I haven't encountered before please, please stay with this thread especially during the times that dieting becomes hard (Christmas/Hannukah spring to mind) because all the support and absorbent shoulders are to be found here in abundance.
I wish you all the best of Christmas wishes (and compliments of the season)....:xmassign::xmastree::santa2::snow_laug:xmassmile:rudolf:......I'd forgotten about the smileys :T
Now I'd better go and find lebkuchen recipe
xxxx
(Now to try and remember how to post this!)I wish that I could be the oldest AND wisest....sadly it's not the latterbut my time will come _party_ wooooh hoooh! Beware!!!!!!!

Oh no! quick, start making some soup! Can I suggest carrot, lentil and red chilli - delish. it will make you feel better, warm and cosy and help battle the nastry flu bugs.
I can also reccomend a remedy of hot water, fresh lemon juice, honey and fresh ginger. Tastes strong but its really amazingly good for you.Betty B: The Eternal Procrastinator....

Petrichor how lovely to hear from you - I remember you from my days of being a shy LW thread lurker!
Years ago when I was at Uni I was never brave enough to post anything myself - in denial I suppose - but I used to read the threads for inspiration.
Merry Christmas!! :xmastree:Betty B: The Eternal Procrastinator....

mc I fully agree, it has become a period of over indulgence, we have far too much stuff here waiting, I am sure in my day it was much more fun, a lot less food and more to do with the family and celebration than trying to keep up with the joneses and organize parties, entertain, buy bigger, better, best, eat for weeks in a round of invites, I don't know maybe it seems endless because I struggle with the cost, the weight gain, dread what my kids ask for for the price tag, all the glitz has gone out of it and all I see is money being thrown at a day that they have lost the appreciation for.:D0 -

I would love to have Xmas day at my house, with just my OH one year. But unfortunately it seems that until you have kids of your own you are required to travel all around to everyone else's house. I hate leaving the house empty at xmas and the pets on their own. And I hate living out of a bag for 4 days in a row and staying in various different beds.
Ugh, rant over!!
We haven't got any kids at home any more, there's just DH and me, but we couldn't consider doing what you've described above. We'd hate it too and we just wouldn't do it.
Victory, you're right, it IS all about the price tag.
Well, I have sorted all the present-giving that matters. Charity Flowers of Guernsey will send special Christmas flower bouquets to 5 of my dearest friends/relatives and at the same time, give a donation to my chosen charity - I chose the Prostate Cancer Charity, there's a long list to choose from. I sent my youngest GD a cheque for £100 for Christmas and birthday because she's saving for a car. I already bought a winter jacket and boots for elder GD who has a very active outdoor life, and we agreed that would count for Christmas and birthday. I popped a couple of tenners into a card for her.Ær ic wisdom funde, ær wearð ic eald.
Before I found wisdom, I became old.0
