BettyB - loved the way u said what u felt like doing the davina work out, made me giggle.
Beanie - is it a backboiler? Does running some of the hot water off stop the noise? Could just be getting too hot, but get it checked b4 xmas and don't end up like me last year! Crowded round the oven trying to get a heat! I'm with u on the snow hon! Bloody depressing stuff, although I'm lucky enough that I live on the flat and only one street away from a main road, so have been managing to get the car out every day, albeit very slowly and carefully. Living so close to the hospital has it's advantages. Only had very light snow flurries yesterday, so hopefully that's the end of it for a wee while, doubt it tho.
Vix, peeing on the floor  and the poor !!!!! gets the blame, you should hang your head in shame!!:rotfl:
fell - looks like you all had a great day
Seen the surgeon about my knee yesterday, not the best news, seems my patella (kneecap doh) and the femur (thighbone, Sorry, most ppl know what that is, but just in case) aren't properly aligned. Not a lot they can do for it, but my job is definitely making it worse, more physio to be done but until I get another job, it's not looking great for a recovery. Something I could learn to live with if my job wasn't causing it to go out every other week. So going to try and have a word with manager today and see if he's got any suggestions.4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0 -
yesterday wasn't a good day :-( definitely fell off the wagon - had about 7000 calories altogether and by the end of the day felt so full that could hardly move from the chair. today's going to be good though again, I can feel it already :-)How's the snow for people - we've had hardly any and it's now pouring with rain and 5 degrees.Ha ha! That was the cat! I wasn't THAT drunk!!
Neilers - realtively speaking subway is a very healthy choice, compare the alternative fast food outlets: kfc, pizzahut, burgerking, chippy, mcdonalds, donner kebab, curry, chinese - would you prefer one of those, because I wouldn't!
I usually get either a foot long turkey sub on wheat bread, or a club salad in a tray. Personally I'm far more concerned about calories than whether somethings been processed or not, but if that did bother me then, like Eric said, would just get the chicken or chicken teryaki instead.
imo the thing to avoid is the light mayo, it sounds like the low calorie choice but it's got lots more than some of the other sauces, the lowest calorie sauce is sweet onion.
ps. on Chrismas day, our local subway is open 24 hours as usual and a few of us lonely singletons have decided that we're all having a turkey sub for christmas dinner, and we're going to take our own stuffing to add and take some christmas crackers and so on :-)0 -
We're going to be away for 5 nights staying in a small hotel in the Belgian Ardennes, and we've just received their 'Reveillon' menu from them asking us if we'd like to reserve our table.
The 'Reveillon' meal traditionally happens after Midnight Mass in French-speaking countries. You think English Christmas Dinner is bad what with all the trimmings - I think the Reveillon meal, in the middle of the night, looks like enough food for the rest of the week!!! Well, we did say we wanted to participate in all their traditions, that's one of the highlights of going abroad, for us. We've eaten traditional fish stew in Portugal, and grilled sardines fresh from the sea - we are not the kind of English travellers who want fish and chips in Spain or Portugal!!
One of the highlights of the menu will be wild boar - now, that is a very tasty meat, we've had it in the Black Forest. But as for my 1100 calories, forget it for a week starting 22nd December.Ær ic wisdom funde, ær wearð ic eald.

We're going away for Christmas, staying at a small hotel in the Belgian Ardennes. We've just received the menu for their 'Reveillon' meal (after Midnight Mass) and asking us if we'd like to reserve a table. Well, we do like to participate in other countries' traditions when we go overseas - we're not the kind of English who expect fish and chips in Spain and Portugal. (Have eaten delicious fish stew on the Algarve, a Portuguese tradition, and grilled sardines fresh from the sea...)
There's punch to start with, coming back from Midnight Mass having not eaten much during the day - Christmas Eve is fasting, apparently. Then there's a dual terrine - terrine is like pate. Young wild boar in wine and kid in Calvados with honey preserve. Is your mouth watering yet???
Then, wild boar stew with dauphinois potatoes with grated cheese, pear and bilberry. Mixed vegetables including broccoli and chicory. Then, cheese, and/or nest of beetroot salad. To end, rum and raisin ice-cream.
This is going to be instead of Christmas dinner for us.
Last Christmas we went to the traditional Christmas Eve service in Coventry Cathedral and that was absolutely wonderful. But we were refused a hot drink when we got back to the hotel because 'the mulled wine was only for those who were going to Midnight Mass'. As most of the other folk in the hotel were wrinklies in coach parties and coaches were not laid on to take them to church, I doubt if any of them got there!!! Christmas dinner for us, if I remember rightly, was sandwiches bought from a petrol station and eaten in the car, that was after we'd been to a nearby village church for a lovely Christmas Day service.
Have just heard back from the hotel - this meal is available in the evening before Midnight Mass, 6.30 to 10.30 pm. The church is only 300 metres away. It sounds absolutely wonderful, am looking forward to it. But, 1100 calories a day? I don't think so, somehow!!!Ær ic wisdom funde, ær wearð ic eald.

Food is only a small part of culture... I dont like going away and not stepping foot outside of the hotel but at the same time a holiday for some people is a chance to do nothing for a week, and if they want to just stay in the hotel and venture out for a bit than that is up to them. Sometimes it can be harmful to go to places that don't have much tourism, or to go to events ect because it can be a snowball effect of more people going and then it becomes just a show for the tourists.
So negative and pros all the way in tourism!0 -
Not too goo d a day yesterday food wise, well food wasn't too bad it was the alcohol that killed it. Drove most of the way home from Newcastle, stayed at a friends last night and as it was ten pm by the time we completed the journey to her house, and DD was still wide awake in the car. So we had a sleep over, I say sleep, there was a lack of sleep, it was half four this morning before we stopped nattering, having drank 2 large bottles of red square (and best friend drank a bottle of wine, shame to leave half a glass in the bottle!) then up at half 6 with the kids! I am feeling it now but as hubby is going out to the beer festival I can chill out have a bath and sleep lol
Puddings - loving the advent calendar!
Eric - you take it easy with that snow shovelling!!
Mazza - be careful with that knee in the snow.
Back on the wagon again tomorrow, see you there Puds lolYou never know how strong you are until you have no other option.0 -
