yayayay, I hope my son doesn't think like that. Actually he does  Doesn't matter how cool I am, I m never cool enough - ehem he is only 13, does this get worse or better with time?:p

I've never felt that my mum isnt "cool". One of my birthday parties my mum dediced to do the can can and show her knickers off. Why she it i will never know...but it embarassed me!!

Perhaps its a son - mum thing and different with daughters!
  • Well done Eric :T:T:T

I know how pleased with yourself you must be as I know how I felt last week. That is an impressive result especially from someone who doesn't believe in BMI :rotfl:

TED: Cor i'd move in with you then, as long as its kept tidy id be happy to use all your gear, watch every programme i wanted to and leave my dirty underwear in the living room for three weeks without anyone moaning!!
sure no problem, so long as you put up with the mess too, and as i work from home it often looks more like a warehouse than a living room... at the moment inside the house theres a 6 foot high pile of reams of paper and boxes of envelopes plus about 900 ink cartridges!!! ... that's why i can hardly grumple about somebody parking their pushbike inside the house :D
grr! katie bloody waissel. if aidens not gonna win then im voting for wagner!

Regarding fat genes: Im convinced that there must be some reason why in my family, me, my dad and my grandfather are/were all >25st. Ok, it may not be genetics, i dont know, but I doubt it's just coincidence either.

    Morning all,

Well OMG - I just got on the scales. Last week I was 16 stone on the dot. This week I am (drum roll please!!) 15 Stone 2lbs :T:j:eek::j:T How on earth I have managed to lose 12lbs in one week I'll never know!! At least I feel that what I am doing is working then :D (And before anyone shouts  at me, yes I know this is more than you're supposed to lose in 1 week, am assuming it just because it's the first week of my new diet and exercise regime, always seem to lose more in the first week!).

Definitely smashed my goal to lose 4lbs by my housewarming at the weekend!! Next goal will be to get under 15 stone. Will give myself 3 weeks for that, as I don't imagine I will lose too much next week given my fantastic loss this week!!

Right - goals for today. Am doing 20 mins of walking, so min of 10 mins on wii fit. 5 portions of fruit and veg. New goal - up my water intake. Am going to aim for 8 large glasses of water a day. Have put a little chart up in my kitchen so I can keep track.

I feel so positive today and really happy. This is the first time I've lost weight by myself without going on a crazy diet!! Feel like I'm making healthy changes so I can sustain this long term.

Hope you're all having a good day, I'm having a fab one now!!!

There is some genetics to it and there is some physiological addiction to it as well, but the hardest part is accepting if we do not put food in our gobs our body will not get fat, as i keep preaching thou getting your insulin under control makes this vastly easier

we are hard wired to hunt out extra food and build up a bit of fat as a reserve for lean times, I suspect this is deeper encoded into peoples that predominately lived in cold climates but I have not seen any evidence to support this. We are also hard wired to hunt out fatty and sugary foods, our brain chemically rewards us for eating such things (and salt), we do this because our brains use a lot of energy (about 20 watts).

there is some speculation that we also have an internal "scale" where our body says I want to carry X amount of body fat as a reserve, its speculated that for some reason this "scale" goes haywire in some people. I have chemically messed about with food down as a suspect for this but no evidence to support it. There does seam to be evidence that once you have a messed up internal "scale" the body does seam to want to go back to that weight.

so with all the above factors and living in a world surrounded with billions of cheap calories and barely ever having to lift a finger its easy to start storing a lot of body fat

But at the end of the day we do have the final say it what goes in our gob...
