Delamo - I just had another quick thought too. You could make your own cup measurements. Weigh out the ingredients you want in a plastic glass (like the sort you get in s/mkts for parties) and make a line with a marker pen where that measure is. Then you have your own tailor-made set of cups. You could have different cups for different foods, like one for rice, another for flour, different ones for various cereals, etc.

The problem is the diet site i use has a fair few americans who contribute to the food options ie---say rice--the product is 1 cup(american style) and the callorie count is based on how big their cup is!!--they dont measure things into the cup so dont say the quantified amount! if you see what i mean!!??--you use these inputs to count your daily intake--i measure my food but it is very fiddly when you eat something just once in a blue moon or in a restaurant.

I've been to see a dietician this morning, my first visit for about 5 years, i reckon she was training because there was "a colleague" in the room with her as well... and she gave me really top quality advice... apparently what i need to do is more exercise and cut down on things like cake and crisps... amazing advice, i would really never of thought of that!

Something else i've been pondering about...There are 2 gyms in blackburn that are only for women. and none that are only for men. whys that?
Not that i would go even if there was... the only time i'd go in a gym is if it was a "fatties only" gym... cant think of anything more demoralising than being in a gym full of fit muscley people

The SW meeting was very friendly and welcoming, and my son thoroughly enjoyed it. He really seems to have picked up the system of doing EE, and is writing out his own food diary. There was another girl there near to his age, and a girl who is in her late teens. The ladies all swooned over him, saying how gorgeous he looks (which he does), so he got lots of attention. He likes the HiFi bars, and is having one for his breakfast, along with a bowl of fresh fruit. I think he's a bit disappointed today that he couldn't have an egg & bacon roll, which fits nicely into the plan, and only pizza was left to eat. I've reassured him that just counting it in is a big step in the right direction, and the rest of his day's food was healthy.

Glad it was a good meeting and that your son enjoyed it too.

I still can't decide whether to dive back into SW of not. Been sort of hovering between doing it and not.... bit frustrating.

hope you're ok alliwantistosave - how nice that people are noticing your loss (and yours Eric!)

I am in complete turmoil as to what to do.
I dont know whether to do SW or revert to cal counting or just do the 'eat sensibly' thing. I am scared that whatever i do i'll fail and not lose anything before Xmas, which has been my long term goal for ages.

Hmm well from what I have seen men's only gyms do exist but they are really just for men that like other men....if you get my drift....

Puds - I use a gym that's attached to the local leisure centre, and from my experience, there's very few muscle bound fit blokes in there. The majority were pensioners, and mums trying to lose baby weight. In fact, I'd say the vast majority were very overweight, but doing something about it, and a small amount of young lads trying to get some muscle, or people who were clearly fitter, and doing training. I never felt it was a place for only the fit and glamorous, which is what my preconceived idea had been of it. There is another private gym across town that seems to attract the more archetypal body builder types, although from those that walk to it past my house, they look like tattoo'd ex-cons (in fact I know that some are), and some of the teenage lads from my boys' school go there to try to get 'rip'. The problem with the other gym is that it has no aircon. How you can have a gym without it is beyond me. Before I joined, I went along to have a look at the facilities, and get an idea of the kind of clientele they had, so if you fancy ever joining, maybe try to do that first?

In my gym theres a variety of people in there! Lots of women, but it depends what time you go, i was the only girl in the gym one evening! So maybe men go more in the eve.

The only muscular ones were in the pumping iron section, and they look odd to be honest! Theres a few gyms in my city, and the one i go to is the oldest, to avoid all the thin people ha
  • Well I have been to the Dr's this morning about a couple of things and saw my own GP for a change. She said if she had known it was me in the booked slot she wouldn't have recognised me :rotfl: She was amazed that I had lost so much weight and without going to SW/WW/RC Etc...
So much so she wanted to weigh me to update my medical records and drum roll please ..................

according to the NHS database I am no longer obese!!!! :j:dance::j:dance::j:dance::j:dance::j

I was so happy I think I must have skipped all the way home like I was a 7 year old child :D Anyway she still told me I should loose another 2 stone  But I will take that with a pinch of salt for now as I have my own goal in mind.

Got to wait now for a referral to Physio again for my shoulder that I damaged almost 2yrs ago in a skiing accident. It has been causing a lot of pain lately and waking me up at night. The perils of loosing weight :o

Betty - have you tried davina yet? I was thinking the other day 1/2 way through the DVD I wonder what you thought of it ..... I know I should have been concentrating on my exercise but my mind tends to wonder on the bits I find easy now

Off now for a big cup of tea to celebrate (oh the life I lead!!)

alliwantistosave :j great news well done you!

I have given Davina a try but to be honest I just felt too silly doing it in my living room. It's almost like my brain doesn't belive it is 'real' exercise, so I'm not sure it's for me.

I am in such a slump right now :( feel like i'm on a rollercoaster of emotion/ambition but i am rarely at the top
