    Here's this weeks chart:

    Congratulations to our SoTW Neilersmc.

Well done to all the losers and STSers, and commiserations to the gainers, keep plodding - a marathon is run by putting one foot in front of the other, one at a time.

This weeks winners of the North v South challenge is Buckfast Beauties :T well done - and good luck to both teams next week.

This weeks quote is from Julius Erving:

    hello all

sorry i've been absent for a bit - had a bit of a hard week work and food wise and feeling rubbish.

gone back up to 10, 9 - sorry for posting late fred but can you zero me on the chart again?? thanks

Dont know what to do - feeling so uninspired by Slimming world that i have kinda given it up but i have taken some principles from it - less oil/bad fats, limited dairy products, limited fibre - as that philosophy suits my IBS too.

I have started using rice milk again as i prefer it to normal milk, shame it's so much more money.

I really need to hit the gym again. But i have felt so run down for the last few days that i can't even bring myself to do the Davina DVD let alone get out of the house.

I need to revamp my eating habits, my exercise and my daily routine.

A friend of mine is doing a low-carb protein shake diet - she has already tried a load of other ones like slim fast, alli pills, etc, and i know this is really bad but I want to lose weight the old fashioned way just to show her that you dont have to spend money on magical diet products to lose weight you just have to eat healthily and move more!

Hi Betty, really glad you're back and I'm sorry youre feeling rubbish at the mo.

It sounds to me like you are full of good intentions, but that never seem to materialise, so no wonder youre feeling fed up!

I think all it will take is one or two good food/exercise days to start to lift your spirit, remember the first day is always the hardest. Make a food & exercise plan, nothing long term just for a couple of days and go fairly easy on yourself, (marathon running should not be on the list!) give it all the willpower you've got and at the end ofthose two days see how you feel, maybe then you might want to plan for a little longer.
    Take care

my fitness pal is really good. Its saying i have 600 odd calories left in my day. The only trouble is......thats sending me a green light for chocolate which im going to do on this occasion because i feel so crap today its not even funny. Woke up with a dodgy throat and its really gone to my head as the day has gone on :( Can't wait for my family to go out so i can put my nightie on and slob on the sofa eating chocolate and playing COD.

Nice to see you again bets i like to think we have a special bond being a similar weight! Shame we dont live closer, my friends really help me to get to the gym.

Hey Betty, good to see you again.

There's you losing motivation with SW, and I'm going to join up next week! I wanted to start from today though, so have bought the latest mag, and had a look on the website for some inspiration for what I can/can't eat (or not combine). I did it many years back, and can't even find the books now. I know that my appetite is my downfall, so am hoping that the SW way will help me with that. Still can't get my head around being able to eat loads of food, which must all add up calorie-wise, and then lose weight?!! But I'm going to give it a go.

Maybe if you need a bit of motivation, try making some of your favourite foods, that fit into the plan for the next few days. If you're feeling a bit rough, maybe a bit of gentle exercise like a walk or 2 over the weekend will help?

So, on my make-it-up-as-you-go-along (for now) SW diet, today I've had:

    B - 2 slices bacon, 2 eggs, 1 slice bread
L - Bowl of tomato soup
Snack - muller lite cheesecake yogurt (OMG THEY'RE 'KIN GORGEOUS)!
D - Caesar salad - shared with OH using 2 chicken breasts, iceberg lettuce, 3 tomatoes, cucumber, red onion & a dash of Morrisons v.low fat dressing
I've allowed 250ml of s/skim milk for my allowance, used in tea during the day

Have I had enough? Have I had the right stuff? I'm relying on the SW gurus on here to guide me until next Monday evening, when I join my first class. Oh, and best of all, I can take my plump son along with me for free, and he'll get to learn how to eat healthily too.

OH is still trying to negotiate a better value gym membership for us, but I'll be going there again soon too.
One day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing

Be nice to your children, they'll choose your care home

B - 2 slices bacon, 2 eggs, 1 slice bread bacon is free as long as all fat is removed, eggs are free and the bread should be whole meal from a 400g loaf. Obviously the bacon and eggs should not be fried in oil or butter!
L - Bowl of tomato soup tinned soup can be very high in syns, but there are some very good recipes about for synfree soups - I have a really good one for tomato soup that tastes just like Heinz!
Snack - muller lite cheesecake yogurt (OMG THEY'RE 'KIN GORGEOUS)! I know - they are fab - and worth the 1 syn they are. Most of the muller light yogurts are free though!
D - Caesar salad - shared with OH using 2 chicken breasts, iceberg lettuce, 3 tomatoes, cucumber, red onion & a dash of Morrisons v.low fat dressing - this is great - as long as you removed the skin from the chicken!

Have I had enough? Have I had the right stuff? You have done really well considering you are doing it from memory! You could have had another slice of bread plus I would have had a few pieces of fruit in there too! Doing EE you could have added some baked beans and some SW chips to your breakfast for a really filling start to your day!
With your dinner you could have made yourself a nice pasta salad to help you keep fuller longer after dinner - all free! Plus you could have used some syns and had a nice glass of wine in the evening!

I am happy to give you some support till you get your books! The latest plan at SW is called Extra Easy and once you try it you won't want to go back to the old red and green days.

With EE all lean meat, fish, dry pasta, rice, potatoes, vegetables and fruit are free foods and can be eaten as much as required to fill you up.

Each meal plate should consist of 1/3 minimum of superspeed foods (you will get a list in the book) which luckily enough is most vegetables and fruit!

In addition you can have one B choice (bread, cereal etc) and one A choice (milk cheese).

Plus you get up to 15 syns to have what you fancy every day!

I have put comments in blue next to your menu above as guidance.
Just read back all my blue comments - I sound like a strict headmistriss marking a students paper haha!

thanks Puds, you are SO right. All I need is one or two good days then I will be in 'the swing of it' and keep it up. Shame I've got the folks coming over for a takeaway tomorrow :rotfl: But they know about my weight worried so they wont mind/notice if I am restrained this time. If I can make it till Monday having been 'good' (I hate that expression) then I think I can stick to it. It's only a few days for goodness sake!

thanks, yeh it is a shame we dont live closer, could give each other a lot of motivation!
You seem to have the same pattern as I do too - gym, no gym, slob, feel rubbish, back to the gym, feel a bit better, and repeat!!

thanks Sary, I am going to give SW another try. After talking about it with a friend last night I realised how much I belived in it, unlike all the other 'diets' I have failed at SW really did help me get in control of my bad habits (for a little while at least!!)

the fab thing is that you really can eat as much of certain food as you want - it's very clever, it allows you as much as you can eat of food that is either really good for you (eg. veg) and so will help you lose weight, or really filling (ie pasta or lean meat) so you can't eat that much anyway! But it makes you feel like you're still treating yourself and not on a 'diet'.

your day looks good, I guess it was an EE day or red? you could have exactly what you had but with more grains if you do EE, esp as you only seem to have had 1 HEB and 1 HEA which is the EE rule.

I wont comment much as I see marion already did a fab job, but I will say that the cheesecake mullers are fab for 1 or 2 syns but dont do what i did and have too many - i can't stand them now!!
Home made soup is the best syn free soup by the way! (and it's cheaper and yummier!)

I am doing just that :D (great minds!) - yesterday I made SW-approved steak and chips and tonight I'm doing chicken stuffed with quark and herbs wrapped in parma ham (only a 1/2 a syn) - I am going to 'treat' myself to a few exciting recipes that just happen to fit perfectly with SW so I can re-gain my love for the plan! As with exercise, got a day with the OH tomorrow with nothing to do, so we're going to go for a bike ride and play squash, which are my favourite things :)

    Marion and Betty,

Thank you both so much for your help and guidance.

I've decided that I am going to join the group anyway, which starts on Monday evening. I've managed to convince my 12 y/o son to go along with me too (he needs it, I'm afraid!) and he can go for free, so I'm getting a BOGOF effectively! We've both had a good read through the SW magazine I bought yesterday, and he seems really keen to get involved. Once I've got my books next week, I'll be fine. I just thought to myself, it's a fiver a week, and at the moment that is quite a bit to spend on myself each week, but if it were for one of the children, I'd do it for them without thinking. As it is, it is going to be for one of them now. If I do this for me, then everyone else gets to benefit from the healthier me anyway. I feel gaining weight this past year or so has definitely affected my energy levels.

So if I'm doing the EE plan, which I think will work best for me & fitting it into the family too, I just need to remember to include 2 HEB (which is fibre I'm guessing?) and 2 HEA (diary?). So, I could have a pudding of a muller with some jumbo oats and some fruit then? I really enjoyed that for my breakfast this morning, so it would be a bit of a treat. Can I eat museli as a HEB? Otherwise, I drink a lot of decaf tea most days, and am conscious I may use more than my 250ml of milk in that, so could I use more milk and make it another HEA?

I forgot to mention I did have beans with my b/fast yesterday, so I was a very good girl!

I'll ensure I don't eat too many Muller's too soon, so I don't get fed up of them. I've asked on the SW thread on MSE this morning if the new Nom fat free yogurts work out at any syns. I've also found some great support via twitter, where there are others doing SW, and also some SW consultants offering advice.

Today I've been peeing for England (sorry if TMI)! The consensus of opinion from the twitter gang is that it's my body detoxing out the excess fluid carbs were hanging on to. I've just had the most mahoosive lunch too, so I really can't get my head around the fact that I'm on a diet. I am so used to going hungry, in order to 'achieve' where weightloss is concerned.

I'm going to definitely make my own soup. Have already noticed the mention of 'Dyno Rod' soup on the SW thread, so it clearly has moving qualities! I reckon they should give out a 9 pack of toilet tissue with the joining pack the way things are going anyway.

    Meal plan today:
    B - Muller, banana & jumbo oats
L - bacon, eggs, mushrooms, beans, leftover salad
D - Baked potato, low-fat coleslaw (how many syns? It's Morrisons' own) chicken breast, side salad
Pudding - muller + fruit + oats (probably strawberries)

I don't know how I'll ever need all those syns, when I don't even eat alcohol!

All meat we have is lean, without fat or skin.

I read an article in the paper yesterday about how Weight Watchers is changing, and they're doing something called ProPoints, which looks suspiciously like Slimming World. The principles are very much the same though: it takes more energy from your body to digest the longer burning foods like protein, fruit & veg & fibre, whereas fats and carbs get digested faster, to create fat. They're 're-pointed' their foods too, so a banana and a curly wurly would have both been roughly the same points before, so you'd always choose the unhealthy, calorie/carb dense option, given a choice, whereas they've made fruit & veg points free. It definitely looks more attractive as a plan. I lost weight using WW before, but I found it hard to eat out and accommodate at times, making it easier to 'fail'.

On EE you only get 1 HEB (fibre - brown bread, cereal, ryvita, etc) and 1 HEA (milk or cheese) - unlike red or green days where you get 2

if you measure out your HEAs you can usually manage to get a day's worth of cuppas - esp with 350ml of skim (rather than semi skim)

    Meal plan today:
B - Muller free banana free & jumbo oats HEB 1
L - bacon free if lean, eggs, mushrooms, beans, leftover salad
D - Baked potato, low-fat coleslaw (how many syns? It's Morrisons' own -check minimins syns section, or google it, otherwise divide the kcals by 20 for approx syn value) chicken breast free if skin off, side salad
Pudding - muller + fruit + oats (probably strawberries) since you've had 1 HEB already, these might be synned - however, if you look up the portion for HEB oats then you could prob split it and have half HEB for brekkie and pudding

you can have some milk or cheese too - for HEA

I don't know how I'll ever need all those syns, when I don't even eat alcohol! i find i use syns for things like ketchup on ym fried breakfast, or jam on a ryvita.

All meat we have is lean, without fat or skin. good!

I am not a fan of Weightwatchers as it doesn't educate you about what is good and bad for you as much as SW does - for instance you cuold have all your points for the day in choc!
Also it limits consumption/portions which can lead to starvation mode or failure once your meals become 'normal' again once you hit your target. With SW i have really discovered what food my body responds well to.
