    Here's this weeks chart:

    12Jan2011.jpg

    Congrats to our SoTW Neilersmc.

Well done to all our losers - there were some fantastic results this week - and our STSers.

Commiserations to our gainers - tomorrow is a new day and a new start so don't give up.

This weeks quote is an anonymous quote:

"I keep trying to lose weight but it keeps finding me."

    Buckfast Beauties v Southern Stunners

The team starting weights have been added to the chart.

Week 1 (week ended 5/1/11) was won by Southern Stunners
Week 2 (week ended 12/1/11) was won by Buckfast Beauties

Well done to both teams - who will win next week?

Forgive me MSEr's for I have sinned, :o it's been at least 4 weeks since my last confession!! Ok, I had both my boys birthdays around Christmas and with all the festivities, all my healthy eating and exercise regime went completely out of the window!!! I have actually joined ww online yesterday (thanks for the tip in Martin's email! :money:) and my wii fit is coming back out today, planning on doing it every other day to start with and see how I get on. I already feel better for eating healthier yesterday. The scales weighed me in at 16st 4lbs yesterday, so have out on about 8lbs over the christmas and birthdays season!

Good luck all and I promise to check in regularly!

AAAAARGHHHHHH forgot to post yesterday. Got home from work at 8 after 11 hours and was so shattered I went for a very quick bath and straight to bed. Wasn't worth posting anyhoo, a measly -0.5lb!!! I'll carry it til next week fred :)
    4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j
  • Thanks puds for your encouragement!

I think others call the plank the bridge instead. It's the one where you lie on the floor on your stomach with your forearms in front of you, and then lift yourself up by your legs and forearms and hold it there for as long as you can. It's great for toning your core, but makes me shake! My long term target is to hold it for a whole minute, and I can do around 30 secs at the mo.

    Exercise log for yesterday:
32 mins on Wii Fit, burning 152 kcal. Included 10 min box, 8 mins steps and 12 min jog (at 154% burn) - just over my 30 min minimum limit, but unfortunately I didn't get home until 9.30pm and had to sleep!

    Food Diary for yesterday:
Breakfast - 2 sunflower seed ryvitas with spread and 1 laughing cow cheese triange, small coffee, juice, probiotic yog
Lunch - 1 large slice ham shredded in leftover lemon couscous and veg medley with portion of salad. Pomegranate seeds.
Dinner - 5 Bean Chilli with basmatic rice and tortilla chips (from Wetherspoon), orange juice
Snacks - 1 Ferrero Rocher (morning), Tea and slice malt loaf (afternoon)

Good luck everyone with their goals today!

rablovesroo that looks like a good food diary to me - the chilli is one of the lowest cal meals wetherspoons do - their nutritional values are available online which is handy.
well done on the exercise too.

Hello - we have a couple of fellas on here who should be able to offer you some good advice. but well done for taking the first steps and signing up to the fitness thing - sounds hardcore!

Never used Alli but I had a friend who did, dont think she got on too well with it. My main quarrell is that it stops you digesting all fat, including good fat, so things like olive oil and oily fish etc are a no go, which can't be good for your skin and general wellbeing... but again i am no expert. plus, I have IBS so that's enough digestion issues with fat without a pill on top!

I am doing sliming world from home (no classes, hate them) which is also very low fat (fat free yogs, etc) but I use my 'syns' for olive oil in cooking so I dont deny myself too much. I am enjoying it becasue you can eat quite a lot, I am rubbish when I try to restrict my cals and often binge just out of spite for the diet!

Oooh did i mention, when I went to that awful class I forgot to buy the 'directory' which apparently is very useful, and cos I dont want to go back ever again a lovely lady on the SW thread has sold me her old one (she's just got the new one).

Anyway, thanks Fredsnail for the chart - I am SO pleased to see that i've already succeeded in the 5lb challenege for Jan, I hardly ever manage it!!! I want to reach it every month and by June I will have lost 30lb!!

2011 baby, it's gonna be a good year!!!

PS - Nice van puds ;)

    Hi Bufger
Always good to see another bloke joining the thread, there are a few of us but we're still massively outnumbered by the she-folk.
I took alli for a while but didnt notice any significant difference in weight loss because of it, but didnt have any of the "side effects" that people often comment on either.
Saying that though, at the time i was eating a low fat low calorie diet, so as i understand it, the tablets cause the excess fat to pass undigested through the system, therefore because i was eating a low fat diet there wouldn't have been any excess fat anyway so no wonder it caused little difference.
The time when i think it would be of most use is when you're eating a poor diet, but personally, when im in that frame of mind, I wouldnt remember to take the tablets then anyway.
    ----

I've been to the dietician again this morning and it was far more useful than my previous visit. We talked about why the motivation has dwindled, (the last two months have been one long yoyo and im the same weight now as i was in my previous visit last November), we talked about how i feel before I start to binge, we talked about (eric's) low gi diet/insulin spikes etc and also she's referring me to a psychologist to try help me sort out why i use food as a reward and punishment, hopefully they'll be able to show me how to direct those emotions towards something completely unrelated. I'm quite optimistic about that, a few friends have said they think that's what I need more than anything.

There was also mention of surgery:eek:
Bypass or gasrtric band or both - she asked me how i felt about this prospect - couldnt answer - i have absolutely NO IDEA how i feel about that

    sorry for waffling!

ps. betty, yeah its a nice van in' it. not much room in the back for my comfy chair and dvd player though. All i want to do is sit and watch silence of the lambs over and over again, but those pesky puppies they just keep gettin' in the way ;)

Yep, basically, that is how they work. They tell you to eat a low fat diet as the pills stop you digesting fat - so any fat you do eat passes through you (and out of you, at any time ) as undigested orange sludge.
    Not nice.
And you are right puds, if you are already eating low fat low cal then there's no need for the pill really (apparently it will help you lose a bit more than you would without it, but then I worry that this encourages speedy weight loss, which is much more likely to end up with you putting it all back on again then if you did it slower and steadier)

Just hopped on the scales there and was pleased to see it was 17st2 1/2 lbs which is 6 1/2lbs down on my starting weight. I appreciate different weighing time during the day and I feel quite thirsty which once sorted could add a couple of pounds but even 4 1/2lbs after 12 days is good going in my eyes. Current target is to break the 17st barrier.

I tried Alli before. I had to convince the pharmacist give me it as he said I was fine. I said well work out my BMI and see. Got the tablets :D

I might go to the docs and get some prescribed (Orlistat) as they are pricey. I only used them when I was in a situation where I couldn't control what I was being served, like visiting relatives. You certainly see the fat afterwards and be verrrrry careful with the side-effects i.e. carry clean boxers :rotfl:until you get the hang of things! Oh and you have to take multivitamins at a different time when you are not taking the Alli as some are fat soluble and would otherwise be, ahem, removed
