If I have missed you off or you wish to join either challenge please post and I'll pick everyone up before Wednesday's chart.

If you are taking part in the North v South Challenge and want to be in the North or South teams please pm me your starting weight for the challenge - this will remain confidential between you and me and will only be used to calculate the % weight losses for the teams (and means that any advantage with different numbers of members or weight is evened out).

Hi Fred, I'll join the Southern Stunners - are you using the Wednesday weights or will that be the day the first calcualtions are done in which case I can send you my weight from last Saturday. I'll have to use Saturday's starting weight to calculate loss for 5lb challenge

Victory - good luck if you decide to switch to sw. You will find it hard to get your head round some of it compared to ww rules. You just have to trust the sw system and go with it. What i am not sure of is how much you can expect to lose if you are aready within the healthy bmi range. I mean if you are a stone over a healthy bmi, you will lose, but if your bmi is say 23, it will be tougher to lose imo.

Not sure of the BMI but I am OH says 1 stone I say easily stone and half over weight so that makes a difference to the BMI, can't see it being 23 now then?

how to ruin a franchise, give it to the uk ....

I have to so agree, the only one I can tolerate is the USA one ,the australian one is too over dramatic and teary and the accent sends me crazy, the UK one with Davina with her over acting towards the camera lense, with her silly face pulling and over zealousness is going to ruin that one for me, I know what I am going to do put it on record and fast forward her to get to the good bits.

I do that often and do you know you can watch an hour show in 20 mins by by passing all the build up over dramatic weighing moments and just get on with the weight loss?:rotfl::D

You feel for them, you get into their lives, they always say they are doing it for their kids or because their parents died early or because the wife has threatened to leave and they want a better quality of life and htey cry buckets and I cry buckets and you urge them on week by week and see their transformation....

A lot of it can be skipped, is built up but they go into their reserve of strength and pull through and you are there with them, only to find that they put a whole load of it back on when they left the show and went back to the real world with no trainer, with fast food everywhere and you feel let down, sad for them, it is all a journey with them and I would give up everything I had for them to succeed and then they go back again....

xfactor is the very worst culprit for that.. the long over 2hr show that they had a couple of months ago, cropped down to under 30 minutes when all the dramatic build up, adverts, phone numbers, dermot talk etc was cut out.
It left only the bits that mattered...the singing parts and the judges comments that followed. Just shows how much bull these shows are packed with!

I have just spent some time reading through this thread. I am so impressed by everyone who has committed long term.
I have had a really rubbish dieting record - apart from an epic diet to shift baby fat about 16 years ago.
I think my big stumbling block is that I really don't know how to do it on a tight food budget. I can a mange a tight food budget as I have done so for years, but I think I have too many carbs in it and not enough healthy food. I do cook from scratch and don't buy ready meals and junk foods. However as my food spends go up too much, I tend to quit.
Is anyone else dieting on a budget?

    Hi All,

Well this was my first official diet day; I was careful about what I ate yesterday, but only really started today. I’ve decided to post my day’s meals, calorie count, and any exercise, for at least the next few days as I think ‘making it public’ will help keep me on the straight and narrow!
I’m aiming for 1500 cals or less a day as (according to one of the websites listed on the first page of the thread) my body needs around 2250 calories a day for my weight and activity level. Hopefully, this will mean that I’m on track to lose 1.5 lbs a week.

    So here goes…

Breakfast - Two slices of toast and a scrambled egg (plus tommy sauce!)
Snack - Munch Bunch yogurt thingy
Lunch - Ham sandwich with cucumber and black olives, and a packet of French Fries.
Dinner - SW style baked tortilla salad basket

The tortilla basket was delicious, I first tried one last month at a restaurant at Disneyland and this one was just as nice - and with probably ¼ of the calories! I'll definitely be having it again.

My grand total was 1636 calories for food. I haven’t done as much exercise as I would have liked today as I’ve been quite busy, but I did manage to burn 183 cals on the Wii earlier, and may try for a few more later (if I have the energy!).
So, taking off the 183 brings my total down to 1453 - yay! :j Hope everyone else had a great diet day (especially the Buckfast beauties!!!).
