Victory - there is a free trial SW menu here:

    http://www.slimmingworld.com/healthy-eating/non-vegetarian-menu.aspx

It's quite simple once you get your head around it. I have quite a lot of info saved into Word docs (since I only had access to the website for a little while) so if you want me to send it to you just PM me :)

Yes please because I cannot get my head around the mountain of scrambled eggs in the morning for example when on WW eggs are limited and pointed and I love eggs but they are so rationed on WW I used to consider them as an absolute luxury as someone else would see a slice of cake and loved every mouthful of them because of it along with the 2 wholemeal WW bread that was my saturday after work treat that I looked forward to all week and now I can eat scrambled eggs like that?

Being in derbyshire I'm kind of in the middle, although definitely see myself as more of a Northerner than a Southerner so will join the Buckfast Beauties, if you'll have me, lol!
Hey we'd be delighted to have you on the team... and now we can officially comment about the southerners all being short of lolly!

The "buckfast" refers to a really awful alcoholic drink thats popular with the louts in glasgow! well you did ask!

Efrieze - really good to see youve come back. Was it a one off or are you going to become a serial abandoner?!

:wave:Welcome to all our lovely new members - Hello!

Victory - Betty has given you lots of great info. It really helped me to see daily food plans for other people who were eating on SW, so I'll post my daily food to give you an idea of what I'm having.

The basic theory, and the beauty (as I see it) of the Extra Easy plan, is that you can freely eat whatever you want from the free foods, still get a daily intake of calcium and fibre, and foods with extra fats/sugars have to be synned. All of which makes perfect sense to eating healthily in my book.

    Yesterday I had:

    B - Porridge (Healthy Extra B), satsuma
L - 2 x eggs, 3 slices bacon (all fat removed), 3 tbsp baked beans, mushrooms & a large tomato
D - 2 x Sainsbury meatfree burgers (1 syn), SW chips, mixed salad, ketchup (2 syns)
    3 throat sweets (6 syns)
    1 biscotti (2 syns)

Healthy Extra A (HEA) : 250ml Sainsburys 1% milk (or semi-skimmed), which I use in all my teas & in my porridge, which is made 2/3 water 1/3 milk, and 3 hermesetas.

So all in all I had 11 syns that day, from an allowance of 10-15.

    Today's Food, on Extra Easy:
    B - 28g shredded wheat (HEB), pineapple
L - ham (lots of, cut from a joint), lettuce & tomato, salad cream (2 syns)
D - roast beef, SW roast potatoes x 4, mash, broccoli, peas, carrots, gravy (3 syns), yorkshire puds x 2 (6 syns)

So thats plenty of food, I feel satisfied this evening, although still craving having some sweet things, because I indulged last week at Christmas, but I know that will pass. I'm trying to not have all my syns this week, to break me back into the swing of things, then next week, I'll allow myself more, so I can have a treat in the evening if I need it.

All the family are eating the same meals as me, apart from them having more bread than I do, but I purposefully only allow myself bread once or twice a week, as I know I can find other alternatives to eat, and know that bread bloats me, makes me retain water, and makes me feel sluggish.

My OH said to me when I began the plan back in November that he'd put money on me gaining, not losing weight, because I seemed to be eating more food than he's ever seen me have before. The first week I lost 6lb! I panicked about portion control, and eating too much, but if you just eat until you're full, and stop yourself from eating until you feel uncomfortable, then you're doing the right thing.

The best tip I've been given so far is to ensure all your meat is very lean. Minced beef should be extra lean, not just lean, cut all visible fat from your meat. The bacon fat left on can mean 11 syns, so if you want to eat it, you have to count it. It's not worth it when you can have a cooked breakfast every day for lunch. As Betty said, Extra Easy works because you fill 1/3 of your plate with fruit or veg.

Breakfast for me can be: porridge & sliced banana, or a activia/muller fat free yogurt, satsuma & banana, or 2 x alpen light bars, apple & satsuma. A lovely fruit salad with natural yogurt poured on it, and some porridge oats is like a dessert, not a breakfast for me.

I can recommend Morrisons as a great place to find their Eat Smart line which is very low fat, and they have lots of snack things available. I always make sure I have quick-fix snacks to eat in the house, so Mugshot noodle/pasta snacks that you just add hot water to.

Homemade soups are brilliant, and add things like mushy peas, baked beans, lentils, etc. to them to get maximum benefit from them (it's not called dyno rod soup for nothing)!:rotfl:

If you need anything looking up on the SW website for syn values, just ask and I'll look it up for you. Have you got the new magazine? If you don't want to go to classes, but could do with getting the books to help you along, just go along to the first class, you get a complete pack with a little directory of syn values that is like my bible, all for the joining fee. I looked on ebay and a lot of the packs on there weren't complete. I see paying for class as another reason to stick with the plan, even though finding the £20 p/month is tricky to do, but I do benefit from staying to class, and the ladies there are lovely - even if the class leader reminds me of a cross between Catherine Tate's character 'Nan', and Little Britain's Fat Fighter's Marjorie Dawes!

When i went to whetherspoons today i picked up one of their food guide leaflets. Jeesus! Glad i did, my friend had a panini with chips and that was like 1000 cals!! I had the noodles at 300 odd calories and an OJ so i saved myself 600 calories by not going for my fave sausage, chips and beans option!!

I wont be having a panini in a hurry!

I don't think I can send the docs directly over PM - does anyone know how??? But if you PM me your email address I'll pop them over (and you can start tucking into scrambled eggs!!! :D)

Yeh spoons is dreadful - I used to look up the cals online before going and always had the plaice and chips or the quorn chilli.

The SW Mag is very helpful actually - and full of recipe ideas/menu plans. I cut bits out of them and stick them in a little book!! (nerdy!:rotfl:)

Sary - do you know if I can just turn up to my local group once, pay the joining fee (and class rate?) and get the books then never go back??? seems like there might be a catch????

As far as i can see yeah just go once get the SW books and not go back is feasible.

Personally the £4.95 a week is something i can afford and the group support is brilliant - lost without it.
Im back to my group tomorrow - !!!!in 3/4 of a stone on since November to shift
