sary I want to switch to SW to give it a change/try/move away from WW to loose the stone gained but cannot understand the syn, hebs is it? What I can and can't eat? How can I eat endless carbs and loose? No clue and scared I will over eat and gain, seems a lot to eat, all I want to do is have a diet change and see if I can loose the stone, without having to think too much about what to eat, what to buy what is good to eat and what is syn etc, can you guide me ? What would a weeks menu look like?
I went on the website but to me it is all confusing, it just keeps telling you how much masses of food you can eat and whether you want a green, red day and include your syns etc too much for me.
I made a soup last night, a huge batch and instead of putting in some chicken stock cubes I don't know why I put in those beef ones the famous chef advertises, it is very strong, looks awful but will eat it as I made it and not into waste, maybe be better today:rotfl:0 -

Thanks for the welcome
Last night at 11.45 I realised that normally I would have gone to my stack of crisps. It was tempting, but I was able to resist. I'm good at writing things down, budgeting etc so I need to do this each day for food as well so I don't forget what I've had
It's great having this thread, as I feel I would be letting you all down not just myself as if I don't succeed.
Started today with homemade muesli (much better than bought), I just need to remember to soak the oats in water before I go to bed
I'm sure it's the extras that I usually eat that are my downfall, and not the main meals - we will seeNot Rachmaninov

I find it easy to write things down when im being well behaved, but when things go wrong and i pig out (and they often do) , then i find writing it down is very difficult - maybe its my way of refusing to admit just how much has been eaten.

If you do a shop once a week then make sure you plan all your meals for the week and only buy what's on the list, try not to be tempted by the reduced to clear stuff and bogofs etc if they're not on your shop list. I find it really hard to go shopping and not come back with "extras" - it's much easier to stick to a list if you shop online but then there are minimum spends involved etc.

:wave::wave:HI EVERYONE:wave::wave:
Its really good to see some new faces! - hi to you all - remember youre only a newbie on the first post - post number 2 makes you a regular! so please dont be shy about sticking your two penneth in anytime you like. ...mmm, waffle, DOH! :wall:
If you like a bit of competition to keep you motivated then dont forget to sign up for the 5lb January challenge or join a team for North vs South which starts again soon ... this is where the Buckfast Beauties:) (for the North) battle against the dark forces of the Southern Stunners:mad:. The team thats lost the biggest %age of its total weight in 4 weeks is the winner. The beauties havent been doing too well recently and really need some motivated new team members to help get us back on track.
If you want to join either team, and/or the 5lb challenge, then simply let Fredsnail know, it starts again this Wednesday I think0 -
Victory - there is a free trial SW menu here:
http://www.slimmingworld.com/healthy-eating/non-vegetarian-menu.aspx
My days usually go like this (I do Extra Easy where you can have 1 A choice and 1 B choice and free meat and carbs)
egg and wholewheat toast (B) for brekkie with a bit of flora light (synned)
fruit and herbal tea
pasta for lunch with salad/veg, canned tuna and cheese (A)
dinner is usually something like chicken in tomatoey curry sauce (home made, herba and spices are free)with veg, rice and a bit of mango chutney (synned)
Free food is low fat meat (EE and red) and carbs like pasta, potato and rice (EE and green). EE is different cos you have more free food but less healthy extras and you have to have more fruit and veg than on green or red.
Most fruit and veg is SuperFree!!! which means you can have loads and loads!
Healthy Extra B choice usualy means fribrous food (like brown bread or sugar-free cereal)
Healthy Extra A usually means dairy for calcium (like milk or cheese)
You can have different amounts of some food -v eg. normal cheddar is quite limited, but you can have more of low fat cheese like feta, or more milk if you switch to skimmed.
syns are like WW points or similar, you have to 'syn' things like extra cheese over your HEA allowance, chocolate and treats, or things you cook with like oils etc. You have to have some syns to keep your diet balanced and stop your body going into starvation/fat-clinging mode and I think it's also to keep your metabolism up.
It's quite simple once you get your head around it. I have quite a lot of info saved into Word docs (since I only had access to the website for a little while) so if you want me to send it to you just PM me

Oh i didnt think that lady was toned at all! Not toned as i see it anyway... i thought she has a lot of loose skin around her stomach. Doesnt take away from her achievement though!
Betty: Congratulations on your 4lbs loss!! I bet that feels good. I must say when i last weighed myself i weighed 10 stone 9lbs. I did it the other day and weighed 10 stone 3lbs. I didnt believe it but went back on the scales and i was still 10 stone 3! So i felt good, but i dont think its a true reflection of any loss. Im going to wait untill tomorrow for a start weight and measure.
I went to the gym today, almost didnt but then did, then spent some time walking through town and places, so i havent done too badly today. Im gunna do a bit of portion control this evening with tonights dinner, i think this is one of my downfalls!!0 -
Hi Everyone! :hello:
I'd love to join you all as I definitely need to lose a [STRIKE]bit[/STRIKE] LOT of weight!
I've never really dieted as my weight tends to go up and down, and evens itself out, although for the last couple of years it has only gone up! I now have around 40 lbs to lose and willpower isn't my strong point so I hope that joining this thread will give me the support to stay on track.
I will have a go at the 5lbs a month challenge and will join a team for extra motivation. Being in derbyshire I'm kind of in the middle, although definitely see myself as more of a Northerner than a Southerner so will join the Buckfast Beauties, if you'll have me, lol!
I do have to ask about the name Buckfast, though? I always thought that that was somewhere/something in the south, or am I confusing it with something else?0
