    Well done on your overpayment!

I've just found your posts and am impressed by the way you write and the way you're determined to sort out your finances. If you can manage not to add to your debts and keep paying them down it'll be such an achievement for you.

Don't leave yourself with no money for emergencies though. Even a change jar can help out at crucial times.

  • Thanks for all the weekend posts guys.

Managed to actually make some money this weekend rather than spend it. I usually play Sunday Morning football and was scheduled to play this week but the referee for our game pulled out so rather than call the game off I volunteered to step it. I am currently training to do it properly so was good experience and got the match fee for filling in - promptly went on filling the car up with petrol though, but still make a good extra quid on the side.

It's pay day this Friday and my bank account appears to still have cash in it, which means sticking to the £10 per week budget has worked this month. Might take lilac ladies advice and put this spare cash (around about £40) into a spare savings account for emergencies.

I have a couple of busy weeks lined up work and social wise so hopefully shouldn't have to spend any cash for a while. All the social events are free, have nieces 1st birthday this weekend, then my oldest School Xmas Fayre the following weekend so a couple of freebies to keep the kids entertained is always nice.

The feeling of having £40 left in the account has swiftly left the building - daughter decided to bring home a letter from school with details of he Christmas Panto and end of term party. As it's her first year at school we have decided that we can't not go to her first performance so swiftly paid out for tickets to that and also to her end of term party.

    School eh? Far too expensive!

That's what I meant in my previous post. If you hadn't put aside some money for "emergency" use you'd either have to get further into debt or let your daughter down. Enjoy the panto. ( and keep adding to your emergency fund whenever you can!)

  • Thanks lilac_lady I certainly will remember to keep an emergency fund topped up especially this time of year.

My purchases from Toys 'R' Us arrived yesterday and Quidco is currently tracking the cashback, not alot, but £30 will be a nice addition to my debt busting pot. Also, with British Gas hiking up their prices I have made an appointment for nPower to come and tell me if they can save me any pennies, especially as they seem to be offering pretty good cashback deals at the moment.

My wife is working nights this week so pretty much going to be no spend week for me - her mum will be putting the little ones to bed for me tonight as I won't be home in time and she will be making up a stew for me to have when I get home. Taking my nan shopping tomorrow (good deed for the month and also ensures I get what I want for Crimbo and what the girls want) so she has said she will get lunch as payment.

Now just to find something really nice to get the wife for Christmas!

  • Morning all.

Had a nice NSD yesterday despite taking my nan shopping - she doesn't get the opportunity to go out of the town much as she is wheelchair bound so she was eternally grateful and paid for lunch and petrol, even though I insisted she didn't need to. Still, managed to help her get all the Christmas presents she needed to get (there is always something exciting about helping someone spend a hell of a lot of money even though your not likely to benefit). We did however manage to get some awesome toys for the kids, including the toy we wanted to get when we went to T'R'U last week but they had sold out.

Still struggling to think of anything to get the wife for Christmas though.
