Morning all.
An expensive yet money saving day for me yesterday. Decided it was about time we started the kids Christmas shopping, so after sending the eldest off to school and the youngest to the in-laws the wife and I shot off to Toys R Us to get some supplies.
However, to ensure we didn't go overboard we went, had a look around, wrote down everything that we wanted to buy then went home. Last night, sat in front of the laptop, fired up Quidco and ordered everything we wanted to buy getting cashback in the process.
Cheapskate I hear you cry - something I would never have done before coming on here, felt rather cheeky, but my bank balance will look better for doing so!0 -
Nothing wrong in doing that, I always do it now. I wont let my oh buy anything unless it goes through a cashback site.
The cashback goes straight into the child trust fund account - every month or two an extra £20 goes in so definately worth while doing it.Year 2019 (1,700/£17000mortgage repayment)Overall mortgage (71,400/165568) (44

Nothing cheapskate about that, it's the way it should be done, well done! :T"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -
NO money loving the diary and keep up the hard work.
Not a cheapskate at all, i did the same with boots, made a list as i went around, came home and ordered through quidco to the store so i didn't have to pay delivery, just popped out in my lunch hour to pick it all up.0 -
Kiddies toys all ordered and pending delivery and Quidco has tracked the order - so just got to sit back and wait for the goods/pennies to roll in.
Long day at work for me yesterday so didn't spend anything that wasn't essential (only picked up the last of the kids presents, was 20% off so couldn't complain and was something that I forgot to put on my toys 'r' us order so needed to be done).
Managed to make £120 this morning as well selling a copy of the new Microsoft Kinect Sensor. I got one for my birthday from my parents then another free one when I upgraded my phone - so one has been sold on and the money has gone straight on to some repayments - the 1st proper/meaningful overpayment of my debt free journey!0 -
Well done on the payment - I can only dream of paying that much off debt this side of Christmas bet you are very pleased

I was/am pleased but at the same time a little cautious. I set aside a budget to all the Christmas Shopping alongside one to pay the card payments etc off for this coming payday (last one before Christmas). However, that took into consideration overtime being available (but that has now cruelly been removed from us). I am hoping it by paying it off as an overpayment I won't get caught short.0 -
Oooooh - another diary for me to stalk :-)
Well done on the first repayment to your card - I was so excited when i made my first dent in my debt a few days after my LBM. Makes it feel like we're getting somewhere, huh?0 -

The stalked becomes the stalker, an interesting twist.
It certainly does feel good - although it's taking longer than I would have hoped to make a start, but it should get easier.0 -
.NoMoney, just logged on to say well done for coming on here to sort out your debts.
Please keep posting, I'm really enjoying your diary. You are a good writer. People are reading it so don't be put off!
Just dropped in to echo Lyndatp
It can feel a bit like talking to yourself at times, partly as some newcomers post once or twice then never post again, then again (hangs head) some of us who've been around for a while have been known to go awol too, though usually due to other things going on .. so it can take a while for people to get used to you posting and become more interactive.
Having said that, I'm sure there are many many people who are either guests reading, or are too shy to post - so just lurk with intent :rotfl:
Well done on your progress so far, and good luck with the debt busting.
