Wilf - welcome aboard. Hopefully I can continue to keep it updated.

Yesterday took a surprising turn. I usually work till 8 on a Thursday but one of our Investigators was down visiting some clients for us and was staying in town for the night. Given that he had nothing planned he called the office to see if anyone fancied a few drinks and some food so as 1 of only 2 people in the office I politely accepted the offer and along with my colleague had a boozed fueled evening with free 3 course meal (at the poshest restaurant in town) all fully paid!

Feeling it now though - usually when I have a hang over I tend to eat a McDonalds/Burger King brekkie to get rid of it - resisting tempation today though as would mean no money for lunch in this weeks budget.
  • Well done for resisting although bonus with the freebie last night!

A weeked that had we not required shopping would have been no spend aided by the weather.

Friday was obviously fireworks night and we were contemplating taking the kids to a firework party until we discovered the house that backed on to the alleyway behind ours were throwing one, so we huddled in the girls bedroom around 6.30 and watched a rather impressive display free of charges. Did we feel guilty stealing someone elses party, nope!

Saturday we had planned to spend some cash as were attending a families 30th birthday bash, I was on driving duty so was going to be relatively cheap, however did not expect it to be free as it turned out. I guess driving does have its perks as they bar we attended provided free drinks for designated drivers. Only spent £10 in total as the wife had a couple of glasses.

The bad weather here yesterday mean't that we didn't go out apart from to the supermarket, but thanks to some bargin hunting and some vouchers we were able to get a fortnights shopping (including full cleaning products) for under £50 which made a nice surprise.

For once I didn't hate Monday! The weather here was absolutely horrible and didn't stop raining from the moment I got to work until long after I got home. The benefit from this, I didn't venture out of the office at lunchtime to walk around the town and therefore buy anything. I took lunch to work and borrowed a colleagues paper, not my usual paper but it was sufficient to last me the lunch hour.

    Things to do this week:
    1) Still waiting on my egg card though to do the balance transfers I have lined up.
    2) Rack up atleast 5 hours overtime this week to go towards the Christmas Present pot.

Instead of buying a daily paper, are you allowed to use the internet on your lunch break - you can read the day's news on there for free :D

I know I could, but he doesn't buy one everyday, and 20p is a small price to pay to keep me in the office at lunch rather than out spending money. Also means I don't go too deep into my weekly budget.

Had a day off yesterday which was nice, so spent it stuck in doors with the little one due to the horrible weather we are experiencing - a no spend day so not going to complain too much about it, oh, and my Egg Card finally arrived.

So, this morning, rang the Car Loan company and got a settlement figure and completed an online balance transfer so that will now be paid off interest free - once I have shouted at Argos and got something that I pre-ordered and then cancelled 2-weeks ago but they still delivered returned and the balance refunded I will add that to the new card too.

    Finally making progress.

Thanks jwil, although on paper it doesn't look like I have because no reductions have been made, although I was rather happy and a little overly excited when telling the wife all about my two balance transfers from accounts with 29.9% interest to 0% last night. She unfortunately didn't understand by excitement.

Still, an early finish today, 1pm then a long weekend (by long I mean an extra 1/2day) with nothing but a Sunday Morning game of footbal to look forward to (please God provide an out of character sunny morning). It comes with free food afterwards as it's a cup game so all is good (well, it will be).

Sorted out the CD cupboard last night and started uploading all our CD's onto iTunes so that we can sell the originals off rather than leaving them gathering dust, probably won't fetch alot, but not alot is better than dust.
  • Morning all.

The sun is shining, which hasn't happened too often around here recently and we are 40 days away from Crimbo!

I had a NSW thanks kindly to the weather - constant rain for 2 days mean't we didn't venture outside as a family and thus had no temptation to spend any cash. Saturday we put on the xbox and played the new Kinect game that I got as a delayed birthday present from my parents. There is something really funny about watching your 4 year old play bowling.

Sunday I did have to go out into the rain and play football, but that's free as the pub we play for cover all our costs, fortunately I am not responsible for washing the kit afterwards, I swear it would be cheaper for them to buy a complete replacement that try to wash them after that. Then after that headed to the in-laws for a Sunday roast and a nice warm bath to put me in relax mode for the remainder of the weekend.

Today though it is unlikely that it will be no spend, our local Debenhams starts it's 25% sale tomorrow, and my firm have been invited to an early access evening. So I am going to attend that and hopefully get some discounted Christmas presents.
