Hi - Just read your post from the start and well done for starting the process of becoming debt free.
On your income / expenditure you have a 0% repayment to your mum of £160. Would she consider a break in payments whilst you sorted out your finances. £160 paying your higher rate could be very useful.
Also I do all my xmas shopping on christmas eve at debs - its all half price or most of it is. Saves me a fortune every yearYear 2019 (1,700/£17000mortgage repayment)Overall mortgage (71,400/165568) (44

Unfortunately there is no payment break possible with the loan to my mum. She took out a loan (of which some of it was given to me) so she has repayments to make on that and my share is covered by what I give her. Also, my parents are looking to move in a couple of years and obviously want this paid off before they do as my dad isn't aware of the loan to me (he knows about the loan being taken out as they renovated which is what it was for, but not the extra amount for me).0 -
That is really impressive :T Definitely one for celebrating.two balance transfers from accounts with 29.9% interest to 0% last night."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -
Thanks jwil - I was really pleased with it - the minumum payment on the new Egg card is set to be paid by DD so just need to remember to throw extra cash at it every month to get that balance down before the deal expires in a years time.
Got some horrible news yesterday, they have decided to suspend all overtime at work until the end of the year, which means my best laid plans to use this as much as possible to assist with repayments has gone out the window. Someone obviously doesn't want to make debt recovery easy.0 -

Sorry to hear about that, nothing is guaranteed anywhere work wise at the moment is it? It's a real nightmare out there.
Hope you manage to come up with something."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -

If i were you I would pay the minimum as your suggest but put any overpayments into a cash ISA or something to get a little bit of interest - it won't be much but will help a little.
Then in a years time you can just pay it off in one go.

Hi nomoney, just thought id pop in and offer my support in your quest to being debt free!!
Bad news re the overtime, hopefully it will only be a short term thing and you will be back on track soon.
Well done on the 0% credit card too!!
I too have a DD in nappies and then theres the wipes to go with them! My DD is quite sensitive so if I try her on any other wipes she gets quite rashy. I do have to say ive switched to Pampers simply dry and they are quite good actually. Might be worth a shot!
Keep at it, one day you will look back and this will a distant memory

adiwood - nice suggestion, I might look into it. Although the temptation is to put the extra towards one of the other CC which I am paying interest on and keep this one ticking over - but that would still result in having to pay it off (with interest in 12-months). So probably to avoid temptation that I keep with it.
mummytogirls - I know that feeling, with our first (now 4) she only used Pampers otherwise she would get nasty rashes, we therefore stuck with it with this one. Shes the same, put her on anything economy and she turns into a tomato!
Really expensive, but if they don't have sore backsides they sleep better, and them sleeping better makes me a happy daddy.
Lyndatp25 - thanks for the kind words. I think it was the initial reaction, you come here, post your darkest secrets and then no-one responds so you think no-one is interested. Glad I stuck with it though.
Well - I intended to go to the Debenhams Sale today to get some kiddies shopping done whilst they have them discounted (as I didn't make it to our works preview evening last night), only to find out it doesn't start till tomorrow.
I was however annoyed to note that the PJ's I wanted to get the girls were in the sale but the cheeky so and so' had put the pre-sale price up to ensure they didn't have to discount them too much. I am not happy with that one little bit!0 -
Haha the sleep is defo worth the extra £'s!! My oldest DD is also 4! We have quite a few things in common really!
Very cheeky of Debenhams to put the price up to get extra money whilst most people will think theyre getting a right bargain!!Mummytogirls x0
