Hi No Money
I have just read your diary from start to date and wanted to let you know that I am routing for you xDebt Bust LBM 01/01/2013 - [STRIKE]£11,115.28[/STRIKE] £10,593.81
Debt free date: Sept 2014 :beer:0 -
ebayqueen and Lucy1010 - thanks for the kind words.
Contacted CAP but they are unable to make us an appointment at the moment, overwhelmed with approaches. They think it will be a further 2-weeks before they can see us, but I think that will allow us to get everything we need sorted, and also work out the amendments that my wife will be entitled to with benefits etc.
Pay day today and have paid all my outstanding debts (minimum payments) I pay overpayments at the end of the month if there is anything spare because of the situation with my wife being unemployed. Due to a good month overtime I have a little bit more than I expected left over at this point compared to normal.
Hoping to be frugal this month as its a short one.0 -
Hope you manage to get your meeting with CAP soon."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0

Good morning all.
It's a lovely day here, and the sun is even shining. Finally we have some positive news for a change (well, hopefully).
My wife applied for a position at our local hospital, fortunately for us, the position is on the same ward as my mum, who is the ward sister. To ensure that things were as she was expecting, my wife went in, voluntarily yesterday for a shadowing morning, following the person who is leaving, and the vacancy advertised to replace.
My mum had a word with the ward manager, who basically said that as my mum has a hell of alot of influence and respect within the hospital, that if she claims my wife is as good as she sold her that she would close the application process and as good as offered her the job (subject to the official process being met). So, fingers crossed all goes well and she could be employed once more!
That would also mean no requirement for CAP.0 -
That is great news! Congratulations to you both! Fingers crossed it all goes through quickly."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0

Fingers crossed indeed.
It's a question of hoping it isn't too good to be true and that the ward manager is true to her word and does offer her the position (we are due some good luck and this will lift a huge weight).
That aside I have managed to bag some double time overtime at the weekend, it's not ideal having to come in on Sunday morning for 4-hours but for 8-hours pay I am sure I can live with it. If I come in early enough I can be finished in time for lunch at the in-laws (or should I come in later and avoid them, depending on your take on in-laws).
Even though there is this element of good news (potentially), the negativity of the last week or so is still there, but just trying to keep positive, if for no other reason that for the kids not to see daddy unhappy.0 -
Got my fingers crossed for your wife and well done with the overtime.0

I have everything crossed for your wife. You are doing so well and you are well past due some good luck.

Thanks for the responses.
She has passed Stage 1 - so now has to go through an interview. They have also added a 2nd position so there is double the chance of her getting the role. My mum is on the interview panel, but for obvious reasons she has opted out of sitting in on my wifes interview, although she will coach her as best as possible to the interview questions.
Apparently my wife scored the highest on sifting when they went through the applications, and that was without my mums influence so she has a pretty good chance anyway.
Some good luck will be nice - would mean we wont need to revert to CAP and can deal with our debts without having default notices applied against us (which is always useful). Fingers crossed for a good interview in 2-weeks.0 -
That's great news, fingers crossed indeed! I really hope this is the start of lots of good things for you all."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0
