Thanks for the kind comments.
I am sure she doesn't consider me that good, after all, the majority of the debt must fall to me, so in a way, I do kind of have to take responsibility for it.
We were lucky enough not to add to it in January, and with Feb/March being shorter months for pay I hope to be able to clear more than usual.
However, we are still toying with a DMP to make things easier (if they all agree to ditch the interest on the accounts).0 -
If you do go to CCCS or Citizens advice - they are free. DO NOT pay for one as it will take longer to pay your debts and just be mindful some companies will take your money but not distibute it until all your creditors agree to the terms which can take up to 6 months so just ask the right questions first xxLoan - [STRIKE]£6991.95[/STRIKE]£6180.01; Barclays Res - [STRIKE]£600[/STRIKE] £0 - £22 per week , NWB Grad O/D - [STRIKE]£1185[/STRIKE] £887.86 18.28% SWALEC - [STRIKE]£700[/STRIKE] £0 NPOWER [STRIKE]£220[/STRIKE] £0 Kays - [STRIKE]£591.28[/STRIKE] £0 TOTAL DEBT - [STRIKE]£10,288.23[/STRIKE] £7,000.01 31.96 % Paid off. Thanks Kat, we were looking at Christians against Poverty as they run a local workshop at the church my inlaws go to - and they suggested them. As they are local they will send someone round to see us and talk us through it.
However, we are holding off for the time being, probably until the end of Feb/March - see if things pick up.0 -
Good morning all.
A good weekend here, managed to make £30 this weekend and not spend a penny despite having to do a full weekly shop! I made the cash by taking some old and no longer functional electrical goods to a local electrical store that was asking for spare parts, and happily swapped them for some cash.
Then went shopping to do the weekly shop and bumped into my nan - it was suitably chucking it down outside and she was buying a fair old bit of shopping and was expecting to walk home. A couple of minutes later whilst queuing at the check out she suggested that in exchange for buying my shopping would be give her a lift home - we would have offered anyway, but couldn't turn down the free gift (she does know about our financial issue so think it was her polite way of assisting without trying to make us feel bad).
All in all a good weekend, how about you guys?0 -
That sounds like a very good weekend No.Money. That was very nice of your Nan, and sounds like you've had a good weekend.
I've reported the above posts as spam btw."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -

Thanks all for the kind responses, things must be looking up for a wierdo to start infesting my diary with spam. Never liked the stuff as a kid and certainly don't like it now!
Did manage to pick up a bargin though, our computer desk in the bedroom decided to break Friday night, now you can imagine the fright being woken up at 3am to a tremendous noise, we thought maybe the kids had fallen out of bed (they have bunkbeds so scary thought). So, off to the YMCA Saturday morning and replaced it with a sturdy one for £5, which considering all the local shops (Argos etc wanted upwards of £25 for something similar I was well pleased).
My Father in Law also paid for my weekly exercise this week, his 6-a-side team were one short and asked me to fill in, my game was called off due to the weather so enjoyed an hour long run out for free.
Apart from that all was quiet, the little one was ill so stayed home and kept her company whilst my wife took the older one to her party.
One thing I would like to ask, if anyone has the answers of course. You may remember a week or so back I stated we were considering a DMP due to my wifes work position, this is looking more and more likely, and we agreed that even if it did pick up, the extra she earned would go towards decreasing things faster. However, if you can recall back to the early pages (1 or 2 possibly) you will note I was able to acquire an Egg Card on a 0% deal until the end of 2011.
If we were to go on a DMP (within 3-months of acquiring this card) would we be rejected, chased around by men with boards accusing us of fraud due to obtaining credit and then jumping on a DMP? Obviously back then a DMP wasnt required, but the work situation has got worse and it is beginning to get impossible to cope not knowing if there is going to be money/work there for my wife or not each week.
Any suggestions appreciated.
