That's a shame about the house, maybe they'll get a bit more realistic as time goes on.
I would think it is highly unlikely that your mortgage lender will lend you more than the house is worth - there would be no guarantee that you would do the work to bring the house up to the higher valuation, and if you defaulted, they wouldn't get their money back. It's always worth checking though."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -
Thanks guys, the responses given pretty much sum up what my mortgage advisor told me - that could deem the whole potential move a non starter as would now need to find a 10% deposit in addition to the money required to do the necessary work when moving.
That won't leave much room for debt repayments.0 -
Good day all - it's been a few days without activity so thought I'd change that. Unfortunately I have nothing positive to add to the diary, things are ticking along as usual, pay day in a week so with it being the first with the newly acquired overtime I should have a little bit spare to make a dent somewhere, also, no council tax due either, so there is another £100 to assist (potentially).
A shocking letter from British Gas this morning though stating they intend to make my bills 6-monthly rather than quarterly! Not liking the sound of that so awaiting their call back to discuss.0 -
Do you pay by monthly direct debt? If not most suppliers will put you on a better tariff and apply some sort of discount xLoan - [STRIKE]£6991.95[/STRIKE]£6180.01; Barclays Res - [STRIKE]£600[/STRIKE] £0 - £22 per week , NWB Grad O/D - [STRIKE]£1185[/STRIKE] £887.86 18.28% SWALEC - [STRIKE]£700[/STRIKE] £0 NPOWER [STRIKE]£220[/STRIKE] £0 Kays - [STRIKE]£591.28[/STRIKE] £0 TOTAL DEBT - [STRIKE]£10,288.23[/STRIKE] £7,000.01 31.96 % Paid off. It's been a while without updates so thought I'd rectify that:
British Gas all sorted - a nice phone call with one of the supervisors has resulted in my quarterly bills being reapplied and a change of tariff based on my usage according to their figures should leave me better off (only time will tell I guess).
A peaceful weekend, took the wife shopping in the hope we could find a nice dress for her sisters wedding, as sister doesn't want her bridesmaids paying out stupid sums for dresses with the words bridesmaid written before it. One trip to Jane Norman and all bridesmaids kitted out it matching dresses that were reduced from £120 to £19.50 in the sale...RESULT!
Also managed to sell almost a loft full of stuff on ebay - it didn't net much mind, but the £100 odd it did make has come in useful.
Pay day this Friday for me and I still have some money left over, so that will be on it's way to debt buster land.0 -
That's fantastic news re: the dresses - what a bargain!
Did you ask BG if it would be cheaper for you to be on monthly direct debit or do you prefer having your bill quarterly?Loan - [STRIKE]£6991.95[/STRIKE]£6180.01; Barclays Res - [STRIKE]£600[/STRIKE] £0 - £22 per week , NWB Grad O/D - [STRIKE]£1185[/STRIKE] £887.86 18.28% SWALEC - [STRIKE]£700[/STRIKE] £0 NPOWER [STRIKE]£220[/STRIKE] £0 Kays - [STRIKE]£591.28[/STRIKE] £0 TOTAL DEBT - [STRIKE]£10,288.23[/STRIKE] £7,000.01 31.96 % Paid off. HI NOmoney
Havent checked in with you for a while. Good to see your coping with everything and what a great bargain those dresses were. You have done really well with clearing the loft. Good to make a bit of money out whats no use to you anymore. Just think every month will see the debt going down a bit more.
Are you able to pay any extra this month?

Hi ebayqueen - Thanks for the comments, no additional payments beyond the money raised from sales this month. My wife is still on reduced hours so any additional money I have earned this month will subsidise her share of bill payments so she doesn't fall into her overdraft (kind hubby me).0 -
Well done on the bargainous dresses and the ebay sales!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0
