  • Honey and Rachel hope you both feel better soon :grouphug:

Ew, KatiePC that website made me feel quite sick. What a shock to see it happen, but the poor hens must have wondered what was going on!

JenIttels congratulations on the wedding. I hope it all went exactly how you hoped :happyhear

Devilsnose if my GP told me I was a lard-!!!!, I'd bop him one - how rude can you be???
Actually I once was seen by an Indian Doctor who said to me "that's f-a-t, while poking me in the spare tyre. I was so stunned that I neglected to do the same to her and say "so's that", 'cos her spare tyre stuck out every bit as much as mine. However, I did change my GP so that I wouldn't have to see her again.

I've been Christmas shopping today with No. 2 daughter. We went in to Leeds for the day, spent a small (well, actually quite a large) fortune and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I got the last two pressies, and am feeling very smug and feel I deserve a large glass of wine and a nice bubble bath to wind down.
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

I'm obv not as polite as you consultant, when I was pregnant with DS my midwife told me that I was putting on too much weight (at that time I was approx 8.5 stone -those were the days eh?) Filled with hormones and most upset about her comments I promptly replied "well at least I have an excuse" She was a nice as pie to me after that and never mentioned my weight when pregnant with NBr 2 :rotfl: Old bag!
  • hope you weren't too upset by the article consultant - I thought it was quite funny - I've clearly been working int he industry for too long! What they were actually doing was not nice at all, but I couldn't help but be amused by the curse of the zombie hens. Still serves the producers right! Glad you enjoyed the Leeds shopping - i went to York at weekend for the st nicholas and got almost squashed to death. How's your mum doing these days?

And a quick question for Lois - saw your poist on the recipe thread for the mince pies - how come they can't be made in advance? I've got a do on saturday and i was comntemplating making some on friday to take along - will they just disintegrate? And tallgirl - I made it! yay got week 1 of going to the gym!
  • Grrr...i'm not sure that I'm going to be able to keep on the diet in the near future. I've been struggling to get back into it after the holiday (always start well but keep waking up at the wee hours of the morning and stuffing myself with all sorts of terrible things) and have things coming up where I con't be able to have any real control over what I eat.

Some friends sent us a posh choclate cake with homemade choclate sauce last night as a wedding present and I hate wasting food! Seriously. I may have to get MrIttels to hide it and throw it away so that I don't have to see it and feel bad both when I don't eat it and when I do eat it!

I'm trying to make myself reduce my portion sizes so that when I do go to all these bad places for food I'll only eat small portions so reduce the damage.

I might try and just maintain until we're all settled in Vegas as I'm flip-flopping between being an angel and binging on rubbish.

Yeesh. Sorry for the whinge. I'm also getting concerned about dieting in the US. They won't have the same syn free products as us (i'm relying on the batchelor's pasta n sauce etc these days). Do you think I'd be ok calculating the syn values of american products using the online syns calculator?
  • Glad you're feeling better Honey - sounds like it was all rough for a while.

C31 - It sounds like loads of fun in your life at the moment! Lots of shopping with one daughter and weddingy stuff with the other...am very jealous!

Katie - interesting chicken post. I totally get what you mean about the funny side of it but ick ick ick also! Do I need to give up eggs now?

Thanks to everyone asking about the wedding. It was really lovely and stress free and some of MrIttel's US colleagues came along which was cool. Have had a huge bump back to reality now with so much to do and no real motivation to concentrate at work (I want to put a sign up by me desk saying - "don't ask me to do any work - I'm already in Vegas :)"). Not that I'm whinging again, honest ;)

Katiepops well done for getting to the gym, I have now done my 2 this weeks but might go tomorrow as well not sure. I shall only be able to do this twice a week for one more week as we are off to South Africa next Friday, can't wait.
Rachel & Honey sorry to hear you are still unwell, guess you will just have to watch daytime telly.
I am still trying to be good, no snacks between meals and proper square meals.

Hugs to Rachel. Hope you start to feel better. Can you busy yourself with writing Christmas cards, wrapping, decorating ? My DH loved it when I had tonsillitis earlier this year, said it was the quietest I'd been in the 10 years he has known me!!
I weighed myself this morning (oh I know, slap on the wrist) and since Monday nights WI have lost 5lbs  I know its cos I have been sick and am dehydrated and it will go on again once I start to eat but hey, my size 12 jeans are loose!! To be honest, I'd rather weigh the same and not have been as sick as I was. Tummy still feels icky and can only manage toast (white bread at that ) Still, I do feel a good lot better and stronger than earlier in the week. Thanks for all the good wishes.

Honey - did the Xmas cards yesterday and was planning to start wrapping pressies today! Great minds think alike!
Hope you're feeling a bit better and that lunch stays with you!
Have just hoovered all of the house and am now washing brand new bedding ready for the guests over Xmas. I am turning into a Stepford wife!
May start sorting out the wardrobes this afternoon - they don't actually shut anymore and there's tons of stuff to chuck out.
Don't actually feel very ill - just been told to rest and not speak. Eating hasn't been a problem either (unfortunately! - had a feeling sorry for myself mince pie or two)
  • Rachel feeling-sorry-for-yourself-mince-pies have no calories, didn't you know :rotfl: Hope you're feeling better soon.

Wow Honey you're fading away ;) I'm inclined to think, when you're not feeling well, you should eat whatever you fancy and to h*ll with the diet. Hmm, you know I sometimes think I don't have the right attitude for this slimming lark :rotfl:

JenIttels I'm very lucky with my children, they are fab and they seem to quite like me too, fortunately :D

KatiePC my friend's daughter went to York at the weekend and she said she'd never seen it so busy, she was quite intimidated by the crowds. Leeds was busy, but not really more than a normal day, it was great.
My Mum is back to her old self, thanks. It seems to have knocked a bit of the stuffing out of her, but she's eating well, so she'll soon be back to normal.

What's everyone doing for Christmas - not food-wise, I mean do you stay at home, go away or what? Is it a big family affair, or a much quieter 'do'?
I let my mind wander and it never came back!
