JenIttels wrote:PS I see why everyone loves Vegas so much now. Do you go for the gambling, Lois, or for something else?
I haven't been before, but I've heard such amazing things from people who have been that I decided to see what all the fuss is about! I'm not really into gambling, but I'm looking forward to playing cr@ps. I think its the whole OTTness of Vegas that attracts me, and I've heard people see it's a place you either love or hate, so we'll see..!
We're going with friends, and the earliest we've been able to agree dates is March 2008, but that coincides with one of the friend's significant birthdays and our anniversary, so seems like a good time to go.
DH also plans to hire a Harley and ride to the Hoover dam while we're there - not too sure about that idea personally but whatever...:rolleyes:

You won't be the first Suggs - there's a house in New Bradwell that was already decorated and lit up yesterday!

Get the tree up Suggs! My tree went up today! and i listened to my christmas cd whilst doing it. Had to draw the curtains so i wiggle around the living to 'santa baby.' I normally do it the first sunday in advent but I'm in the Barley Hall in York on Sunday so had to do it abit early this year. Looking forward to a quiet Christmas just me and OH for the day, snuggled on the sofa watching the fire. And recovering from the trauma of throwing a party on the 22nd. I don't know what possessed me, but I'm having a black tie cocktail party at my house. To my delight, a very nice party dress from the past now fits so I'm splurging the dress money on having a hairstyle at the hairdressers. Best stay off the sweeties between now and then or the dress won't fit though!0

Consultant it sounds ideal for your family that they spend the day apart but what happens if they have kids?
Ah well that's when everything will change I expect.
Noooo Suggs, please don't put the tree up yet - think of the dust the baubles will gather
Sorry KatiePC but it's too soon for me. All the magic's gone by the time the big week arrives! I'm already sick of the Christmas songs every time I go into a shop. I honestly think if it all started about 2 weeks before 'The Day' it would be so much more exciting!
BTW KPC, what's going on in the Barley Hall?
Suggswhere do you live, I'll look after the Pringles and chocs for you, don't worry, they'll be safe with me :rotfl: :santa2:I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -
Evening all :wave:
This must be a first - no new posts for nearly 24 hours! I hope everyone is busy with Christmas preparations and hasn't lost their motivation
Christmas really is looming fast - my neighbours have been putting their external Christmas lights up, and I made the mistake of braving the shops today, in search of presents and accessories to go with my outfit for the 'do' on Friday - parking was a nightmare. :eek:
Fortunately my outfit fits me so I don't need to starve myself all week, but when I took it out of the wardrobe I noticed a dress that I bought three years ago and wore to a posh frock do - it's a gorgeous dress, far too dressy for this weeks do, but right now I couldn't wear it if I wanted to, as I'm two sizes larger than I was then. :mad:
Anyway, seeing the dress has made me determined that I'm going to get back to target again, and I'm not going to wait until 1st Jan to set my usual new year resolution yet again! So you can all bear witness to this and remind me of it regularly please.
Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

I am very worried about them - they might encourage rats!!!! I'll just pop down and pick them up shall I
Well done Lois on making that commitment - it can be done if you're determined! I'm sure you'll look gorgeous in the outfit you've chosen for this 'do', and then you can wear the other dress for the next one :jI let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -
morning, sounds like we are all sorting Christmas out this week. I braved the shoops too this weekend. I have all my presents etc sorted but husband needed to buy for his mum and dad. SO many people so much rubbish, went to Portsmouth not nice at all on a Saturday Morning.
TOday gettting really stuck into the packing and finding all those little bits and pieces that needs to get sorted before we go. Charge camera, wash golf clubs, find travel kits etc.
Hope you are all staying on the diets, I am being quite good but not good enough.Save £12k in 25 No 49

My girls are 15 (on 5th Jan) 12 and my son is 11. Mrs Suggs has a 16 year old girl and a 14 year old chav, opps sorry son
They do get on pretty well, the recent holiday to Majorca demostrated and reassured me about that. Its me that struggles sometimes, I spend 2/3's of my time on my own with my children coming every second weekend, and so sometimes my house goes from 1 person to 7 people in a matter of hours, its frightening :eek:Proud Member of the Lose Weight Thread on I Wanna..................

Hi all. I appreciate everyone is busy these days, but just in case anyone pops on here for a few minutes, I thought I'd post a recipe which was emailed to me today:-
Christmas Cake
Ingredients:
1 cup of water
1 tsp baking soda
1 cup of sugar
1 tsp salt
1 cup of brown sugar
lemon juice
4 large eggs
Nuts
1 large bottle rum
2 cups of dried fruit
Method:
Sample the rum to check quality;
Take a large bowl, check the rum again;
To be sure it is of the highest quality, pour one level cup and drink;
Repeat;
Turn on the electric mixer;
Beat one cup of butter in a large fluffy bowl;
Add one teaspoon of sugar;
Beat again;
At this point it's best to make sure the rum is still OK;
Try another cup .... just in case. Turn off the mixerer;
Break 2 leggs and add to the bowl and chuck in the cup of dried fruit;
Pick fruit off floor;
Mix on the turner;
If the fried druit gets stuck in the beaterers pry it loose with a drewscriver;
Sample the rum to check for tonsisticity;
Next, sift two cups of salt. Or something. Who gives a stuff;
Check the rum;
Now shift the lemon juice and strain your nuts;
Add one table;
Add a spoon of sugar, or whatever you can find;
Greash the oven;
Turn the cake tin 360 degrees and try not to fall over;
Don't forget to beat off the turner;
Finally, throw the bowl through the window and finish the rum.
CHERRY MISTMAS! :xmastree:I let my mind wander and it never came back!0
