suggs, I wouldn't trust those scales anymore if I were you, but at least you can be sure that you have lost a fair amount of weight, so relax and be happy!

Madauri, I would but this Boots is part of the GP surgery and they have always been happy for me to use them. The lady in Boots even reset them for me as she changed the paper. The scales in the gym reflect the weight loss, but short of actually making an appointment to see a nurse and use the actual surgery scales which are in full view of a waiting room, I think I will have to stick with Boots.

  • Suggs if your surgery scales are anything like ours, they won't be terribly accurate anyway.
As everybody says, accept you've had a good loss and keep going as you normally would. It seems to me that the site of your op will not be as swollen as it has been and will probably have shed a certain amount of fluid which, of course, will show on the scales.
Whatever the cause, be happy :T

Cheekymole, congratulations on staying at target - the hardest part of slimming IMO.

Whoo MissMP - what a loss, well done!!!

Katyk if you get an interview, why not ask the interviewer if they have any car-pool schemes. My son-in-law pays a colleague for a lift to work every day as he is in the same situation as you. It seems to work very well, everyone gains from it!

Froggy I find the best thing to take to the cinema is a bag of seedless grapes. It's like eating sweets, but you can take one after another and know you're eating something healthy!

Good luck for all the weigh-ins this week.

Christmas is just around the corner and I found this poem which may make you think about what you're going to eat over the holidays:

    Twas The Month After Christmas

‘Twas the month after Christmas and all through the house
nothing would fit me, not even a blouse.

The cookies I'd nibbled, the eggnog I'd taste.
All the holiday parties had gone to my waist.

When I got on the scales there arose such a number!
When I walked to the store (less a walk than a lumber).

    I'd remember the marvellous meals I'd prepared;
The gravies and sauces and beef nicely rared,

The wine and the rum balls, the bread and the cheese
And the way I'd kept saying “yes I’ll have one, please."

As I dressed myself in my husband's old shirt
And prepared once again to do battle with dirt---

I said to myself, as only I can
"You can't spend a winter disguised as a man!"

So--away with the last of the sour cream dip,
Get rid of the fruitcake, every cracker and chip

Every last bit of food that I like must be banished
till all the additional ounces have vanished.

    I won't have a cookie--not even a lick.
I'll want only to chew on a celery stick.

I won't have hot biscuits, or corn bread, or pie,
I'll munch on a carrot and quietly cry.

I'm hungry, I'm lonesome, and life is a bore---
But isn't that what January is for?

Unable to giggle, no longer a riot.
Happy New Year and to all a good diet!
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

  • Just got back from s/w and I have lost a 1lb. so I am happy. Just going to sit down now and watch I'm a celeb while eating my jacket & cheese. Those poor starving celebs (haha).

I'm out for a chinese meal and a chinese elvis to boot on Friday. I'm just going to enjoy it and not worry about what I'm eating or drinking. The Elvis was that bad last year I've decided to get plastered early on this year.
    HOW MUCH ?

    Evening all

Here's the chart for this week, with three Slimmers of the Week! (Sorry Suggs, I couldn't ignore your weight loss altogether, so I've combined the award with the next closest weight losses as a compromise.)

Well done to everyone who has lost weight this week. :T Commiserations to anyone who has gained, but I think we all know why we've gained and can put it down to experience.

It's Day One for me today, and with 4 weeks to go until Christmas I'm determined to kick the temptation to overeat back where it belongs - on the 25th December.

As usual, if I've missed anyone or got any numbers wrong, please let me know.

    Have a good week everybody.

Thanks Lois, lovely to see my name up there. Mind you, I feel a bit of a fraud as that is the weight loss in about 2.5 weeks not just one. Nice to see it anyway, though. Well done to all other 'losers' too, and commiserations to anyone who gained.
  • Thanks Lois, but Suggs had such a great weight loss that I feel a bit of a fraud too as joint SOTW. Don't question it Suggs, just be very pleased:j

Well done to all the other losers.
RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.
