  • Feeling much better today.
Eventually gave in to fishfingers, beans and waffles yesterday - I suppose it could have been worse!
Just got back from a 1 hr 10 min walk with the dog - blown all of the cobwebs away. I used the new Benylin cold and flu capsules (on offer in Tesco) and they seem to have done the trick
Have to go and pay for the family Xmas lunch today - it's 4 courses and I have tried to choose the best "diet" options but it will probably end up being a day off the diet! At least I don't have to cook it! I have my OH, mum, dad, sister and nan for Xmas Eve, Xmas Day and Boxing Day -my family live in South Wales so its a 4 day marathon with regards to guests. Have been far more reserved this year with the number of sweets and nuts etc I've bought - hopefully most of it will go by the time they do!
    Have a good day!
    Rachel.
  • welcome Slade - this is a great place for support and you'll find lots of help here. Have you looked at the recipes thread? It's worth a go, there are some great things on there. Glad to see Delly back too. Well, day one was friday an i'm back on track so far. I just need to get my !!! back to the gym and then I'll really be getting somewhere! Does anyone have suggestions for me - I absolutely hate the gym and totally resent the time i spend there - there are so many other things i could be doing that I enjoy. I've tried doing classes but they don't have any that suit me at the right times, so I have a programme with a trainer but I just can't get excited about it. I don't like cold and wet so joging or cycling or walking is right out.

Honey, sounds like the bridesmaid thing will be a good motivator for you. Be careful though - I was abridesmaid last year and actually gained a lot of weight. I kinda got it into my head that i was gonna look like a troll no matter what and so the weight didn't matter. I look at the pictures now and could cry. What a wasted opportunity. On the plus side, I tried on the dress last week and it fitted like a potato sack.

Just popped on quickly to say that there's a really good programme on Channel Five Life (channel 209 on Sky I think). It's called the Diet Doctors and is on for an hour per episode and I think there are 4 more episodes on back to back from now (6pm).
It shows the health implications of poor diet and lack of exercise - I've found it quite motivating so far (watched 2). They have real overweight people that want to change and a fit person that adopts their lifestyle for 2 weeks to see what happens.

Off to watch the next episode now!

    Hi Guys
Sorrry I have not been around for ages, fell rubbish about it but I was away for 4 days last week. I went home to see the family in Denmark and boy did I eat and drink. They had the new Christmas Largers out and I just love them. That combined with sweets and I cannot get here and lots of fatty Danish Christmas food it was a diet disaster.

Did my WI this morning 11.10 that is 2lb on really really bad and only 12 days to my holiday in South Africa.

Well must do something drastic, plan as follows
    1. No more alcohol during the week possible a bit next weekend
    2. Go to the gym at least 3 times this week
    3. Stop eating rubbish and snack between meals.

I wanted to be 11st for our hols but I now think that is unrealistic so perhaps I should aim for my lowest so far which was 11.7 or do you think I can do better.

  • Tallgirl you may be able to lose more than 3lbs in 12 days, because most of what you've just put on will probably be water you're retaining due to the unaccustomed food binge. You should be able to lose 2lbs of fat (sorry, don't mean that to sound insulting) plus some excess water before your hols if you stick rigidly to whatever plan you're following. Drink lots of water to flush you outand I'll keep my fingers crossed for you (that's the scientific bit:rotfl: )

    Well done Flis, congratulations :T

You all got me in the mood for a good old-fashioned stew, so I've been and bought a load of root veggies etc and I'm off to get it cracking in the slow-cooker now. I'll get home from work tonight, after 7pm, to a house smelling like it did when I was a child - ooh yum!!!
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

TallGirl - Consultant has a very good point, dont know if you remember, but when i got back from Dubai, I lost a little, then put on about 4lbs which was put down to fulid retention as the body was still holding onto water thinking I was in a hot country, I then lost it all about 10 days after getting back, I even remember the evening the body decided to let go of the water

    Hope that makes sense.

Well done Fils, you picking that bag out already? Maybe you should aim for a purse as well??

Honey? Hows the OH hope all ok? I suffered on Saturday, tried to jog as was caught out in the heavy rain, I felt every single step :o My fault I know, I guess I thought I was safe for a few strides.

Anyway I went back to Boots this morning, wearing the same clothes as last week and after messing about because the paper had run out, then didnt want to work etc, I had three weighs in the end two of which have printed off, The first weigh said I lost 8lb, the second 11lb and the third 9lb  So which one do I trust? I'm glad the general trend in still down, but I dont understand at. I also do not want people to start thinking I am pretending or pulling your leg, I am as confused as the next person, is it the change of routine? In fact I am happy to show the print offs if that helps. I do not want to be SOTW as I dont think it is fair to the others in the group, if this weight loss is true, it must be an exceptional blip :)

I would have happily accepted a maintain this week, purely as I dont think I am doing anything special or different from normal weeks eating wise. I have been in the pool twice times and in the gym 3 times in the last week, but the pool is only 8m long I managed 50 length of stop/start breaststroke last night. In the gym I did the three sessions but with reduced intensity to protect the knee.

Sorry to moan, I would fully expect a gain next week, as long as the trend is still on the downward trend I would be more than happy.

Right back to work, massive task of building a quote today, using my friends cut and paste.

    Thanks
