Honey, I am sorry I didnt realise the operation is today. I hope it all goes well for him.
I had been meaning to update about the knee, it was two weeks before I could walk up and down stairs normally. Though if I forget about it and 'twist' as I get up or out of the car it soon reminds me.
I did try to buy a neoperne support earlier in the week, but I couldn't fid one to fit properly as I wanted a Velcro one :-( Im about 18 1/2 inches around the good knee! Boots etc do not stock XL support. I will probably buy a roll on support though
Ventured into the Gym on Monday and managed some gentle cycling and work on the cross trainer, both hold you feet in position which helps with stability, I might try walking on the treadmill later today if I get down the gym. I have been trying to swim as well managed 30 lengths of a 20metre pool TuesdayWhich is good for me.
All in all it is a case of taking it slow and sure, It does ache from time to time, but I hope the benefits outweigh the current pain :-)
Good Luck to your OH Honey, any questions please feel free to ask.Proud Member of the Lose Weight Thread on I Wanna..................

Thanks Suggs, I spoke to him earlier and he is fine. They gave him an epidural into his leg after the operation so he still cant feel a thing. Me thinks it will hit him when it wears off :rotfl: Its the taking it easy and resting that he is going to have problems with. This is a man who can't "do" nothing. I had trouble keeping him in earlier in the year when he had chicken pox!
Glad to hear you are on the mend, you are very motivated to get back to the gym so soon. I wish I had your motivation (and your energy). Well done on SOTW by the way :T
Its 31 days to Christmas  :eek:0 -
Honey there are many reasons for the motivation, the main one is the fear of what happens if I stop for a short period of time,I worry I wont start again. Hence I post what I do from time to time, its my way of kicking myself up the bum.
I cleared out the study last weekend and found an old weigh-in slip from boots thats 3 1/2 years old, I have another 1st 7lb to go to beat that weight, that was the last time I did the diet thing.
I didnt have an epidural though (lucky thing) did he have a general for the operaton?? I found it hard to keep off my feet, its does hurt though as you realise you keep having to tighten the quad as you lift and move the leg.
Maybe you should just tie him down??
Whatever happens keep him dosed up for the first few days thoughProud Member of the Lose Weight Thread on I Wanna..................

Yeah he had a general for the op, they gave him the epidural in recovery AFAIK. I'm just glad for him that this part is over and dreading him coming home. I've my afternoon routine and playing florence nightingale isnt part of it :rotfl:
The diet has gone out the window again today. I really do need a huge kick up the backside. Its complacency I think. Now that I have reached a size that I am happy with (although i do want to lose more) I think that subconsciously I keep thinking that I dont need to kep trying. I suppose this is the attitude that got me to the weight I was at.
Has anyone heard from DellyBelly recently? She hasnt been around for a while0 -
Congratulations Eels!!
Don't know if this will help for sore boobs at the start of pregnancy - it was a tip given to me by a midwife for very sore ones whilst breastfeeding, before they calmed down and realised there was only one baby and they didn't need to swell so much! (I hit an incredible 38J cup at my biggest:eek: )
Anyway, I was told to buy a white cabbage, keep it chilled then line the cups of my bra with leaves! DH found it hilarious and earned a punch to the shoulder after standing in sainsbury looking first at me chest, then at the cabbages, then back at my chest - trying to judge the best one to buy - before selecting the largest one he could possibly find!
Despite his ridicule, it worked a treat! (And if it doesn't you can always use the rest for coleslaw;)
Good luck:D0 -
:rotfl: :rotfl: Katyk my imagination had me in stitches with that one, I shall never be able to look at a cabbage in the same way again :rotfl: :rotfl:
Congratulations Eels what wonderful news!
Hope your OH is feeling ok Honey, how long before he's home? Perhaps you could find some sitting down jobs for him - how about writing out all the Christmas cards, that should keep him out of mischief for a while!I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -
Thats a great idea consultant, I will find him plenty to do, dont worry -if he thinks he is going to sit and play playstation all day for many weeks he is mistaken!!
Katyk - I did the cabbage thing to and it does work doesnt it! They do get a bit pongy after a while though so keep changing them :rotfl: Its also true that you lose all dignity after giving birth :rotfl:0 -
Hello - not been around for a few days principally through work but also partly because I've been having a complacent week. I bought new clothes for work on the weekend and everyone has commented how much thinner I am (wearing clothes that are too big for you apparently does you no favours as people can't tell how much smaller you are!)
Anyway after revelling in the glow of M&S size 10 trousers and Next 10 skirts I promptly thought I was invincible and have happily stuffed myself (not as bad as that but feels very naughty) with wine, chips and 2 bars of chocolate over the past few days.
Have finally realised that I will not stay this size if I carry on so it's day 1 for me tomorrow.
Hopefully I'll have got the celebratory eating out of my system now!
OH is away this weekend and therefore I can get back into the swing of it without distraction or temptation!
By the way - flipping eck Eels !!! A baby - brilliant! Congratulations!!!
Hope everyone is well -
Take care
I'll check in again tomorrow to keep myself on the straight and narrow,
Rachel. XX0 -
whao eels! congrats! Glad to hear Suggs is on the mend too.
Also gald to hear that the wobbles are going around and that I'm not theonly one struggling at hte moment. I went to the BBC Good Food Show yesterday for work and I just didn't even try o write a food diary. Spent all day nibbling but it was kinda fun. Nothing vastly exciting going on though. Have decided that today is day one. Oddly enough abox of chocolate s is going to help me - I've bought a big box of very rich chocolates from hotel chocolat that I reckon must be three syns each. So as long I don't eat too much during the day, I can have up to 5 a day - I tried really hard to eat more last night but just couldn't. I'm thinking it's kinda like devils_nose's incentive but with chocolate instead of money. And now i've shared my plan i have to try really hard not to disgrace myself by stuffing in th whole box.0 -
Quiet today on here!
Where is everyone? Blown away by the gales??;)
Found out today that a standard 6 inch tuna Subway sandwich has over 500 cals in it!!! Madness! Thought I was being relatively good too!0
