Hi Delly  welcome back.
I was a stay at home mum until my children started school, so I never had to find money for nursery fees, and I often wonder how people manage it. My colleague has 2 pre-school children and by the time she's paid out for nursery fees she has very little salary left. She sees it as an investment for her future career, so it doesn't get her down, but it must be really difficult to make ends meet.
Back to losing weight, I've often heard that following SW is expensive, but when you think how cheap pasta, rice and potatoes are I'm sure it must be possible to stick to and lose weight (and hopefully not get too bored in the process). That would mean mainly green days, which I seem to be doing a lot of at the moment - I find it's easier to solve the problem of what to have for lunch when I'm on a green day than when I'm on red - left overs are often the order of the day, or a jacket spud. If we have meat for dinner and it's something that can be counted as a HE on green, I do that and then fill my plate with extra potatoes, and hopefully avoid the snack attack later!
It's good to have you back Delly, we missed you

Hi Guys
Well I have just weighed myself and i came out at a shocking 108.8kg.
Depressed isn't the word as to how i am feeling right now, but i have decided to see what i can do about it.
Here is my breakdown (I Just bought some fancy scales)
Weight 108.8kg
Fat 33.2%
Water 44.2%
Muscle 27.6%
Quiet dishartening at first but then i thought that i only have myself to blame and i am the only one who is going to get me out of this state.
So I have set myself some small and big targets, the first small one is to lose 3.8kg.
The main big ones are to get to 85kg and to have a body fat of 14%.
Quite achievable i think but will require a lot of work.
I have a night out tonight and it is going to be my last one for a while so it might be a bit heavy.
But to ease a smidge of the burden i am of for a jog now.
I will keep you guys updated as to how it goes.
Wish me luck

I've been putting off trying to lose weight for ages but i'm finally going for it and have lost 5 pounds in the last couple of weeks. I want to lose another 10 pounds by the new year. I find it really hard not eating sweet stuff but i'm drinking loads of tea and hot water/lemon to stop myself nibbling. Just take each pound at a time and don't deprive yourself of nice food. Good luckonly 10 more work days this year!0

Welcome back DellyB , we missed you!
Those are good tips Madauri, the one I have the most trouble with is slowing down. I eat as though someone's going to pinch it off my plate - it's most unattractive and I really must try to curb myself.
Welcome Slade. You'll get lots of support on here, so keep posting and let us know how you're getting on!
Lois. New members often ask if it's going to cost a lot to lose weight with SW but I often think it can actually be cheaper. As you say, potatoes, pasta and rice are among the cheapest foods available and can be eaten in vast quantities. Although fruit and veg can be expensive, they cost less than biscuits, cake and chocolate, so overall it evens out.
I have never shopped for groceries online, but I like to bag a bargain or two and worry I won't spot them on a web page. I must admit though, that it would be cheaper if I didn't buy things on impulse as I wonder round.
Right, off to watch X Factor. Bye for now :wave:I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -
Just got back from my jog and am cream crackered.
I managed to jog for 12 mins without stopping which might not sound alot but for me it is a big achievment.
Will do the same run tomorrow to try and build a little bit of a fitness level up and go fro there.
will let you know how i go.
Cheers slade;)Form is temporary class is permenent.0 -

Hi,
Usually enjoy Saturdays but have felt rotten today - sore throat, headache, generally kna**ered, aching limbs - I guess I have my first cold in 3 years!
Have managed an hour in total of dog walking (very reluctantly between the showers) and a quick whizz round Tescos but other than than have been flopped on the settee watching rugby.
Suggs - What's going to happen with Robinson? The All Blacks were brilliant against Wales but I don't think we totally disgraced ourselves.
Have been quite good today (been rubbish all week - I put it down to my body gearing up for my cold and demanding calories!) - had noodles for lunch and a small box of raspberries and 2 satsumas. Also scoffed a small bag of Tesco Healthy Living sour cream flavour pretzels but don't know how many syns they are - they're 1.5 WW points but I don't have access to the SW web site this week as I missed weigh in and don't have the password.
Worst thing about feeling a bit under the weather is that you can't be bothered to cook properly and end up grazing on bad stuff. Am trying to motivate myself to cook something easy but good for you, but don't seem to have the ooomph. Will go and scour the cupboards for effortless food!
Have a good evening

Thanks for the messages guys, talk about making my day.
Welcome to the Thread, Slade, Fifi's advice is good. Don't try and overwhelm yourself with targets. Take each pound (or 500g) as they come off and congratulate yourself for what you have acheived so far.
Consultant31 - I agree that I find it significantly cheaper following a SW plan than any other I've found. I seem to have been able to put the principles in place around my lifestyle and not too much counting so it doesn't seem like such a major change, just a few adjustments.
Rachel - STAY AWAY FROM THE RUBBISH! eat lots of Oranges and Kiwi fruit. Some of the baxters soups are a healthy b option, why don't you go for something like that (or if you get an energy boost, try making your own soup,) much much better for you and more satisfying than junk food. I know the temptation is great though, especially if you're already under the weather. Can I make a small suggestion for a stew that we make over here.... peel & chop potatoes, onion & carrot, put into a large saucepan along with lean minced steak rolled into balls and just cover with slightly salted boiling water (put on the lid). Boil up the stew until the potatoes are soft and remove from the heat, mix 4tsp of bisto (original) with a bit of water and add into the pot, stir well and allow to simmer for another 5 minutes and serve... mmm, gorgeous in rainy cold windy weather...Goal for 09: Get fit and foxy. target weight 11st. 5/80.Get out of dead end job and work for career I always wanted.0 -

Oh Delly, thats just what I am going to have today - you have put me in the mood for a good old bowl of stew - you needs loads of tomato sauce on it thoughOH has slices upon slices of white bread with his but I will give that a miss!
I am also loaded with the cold Rachel so you have my full sympathy. Obviously OH's sore knee is much worse than my "only a cold" so I cant complain out loud as no-one cares!!! and obviously once OH gets my "only a cold" it will be full blown man-fluenza!!
AAAARRRRGGGGGHHHHH, rant over. Let's just say he will have a matching sore knee in a day or 2 if he continues the way he is going :rotfl:
Off to make some porridge for brekkie. I think I have some sweet potatoes lurking so will make a pot of pepper and potato soup for lunch. Got a call from my other friend whom I am bridesmaid for next year - first fitting is in 2 weeks  so motivation is back with a vengence !!!0
