  • well I thought I let you know my thoughts on Dirty dancing. the musical.

mixed feelings really. I think maybe I'm too much of a fan of the film. Some bits were really good. some bits were gorgenzola. somebits were just not nessasary. over all it was good but not the best i've seen. (wicked. the witches of oz). The seats were up in the gods but still cost £32. and were very uncomfatable. Plus I had a bacardi breezer and an icecream. but I hadn't had any syns at all yesterday so I don't think I have to worry too much. but they are releasing the film at the cinema on the 9th of feb and a 20th aniversary of the dvd as well. can't wait. So honey28 go and see it if the oppotunity comes up you will enjoy it. Also don't expect a musical as in all singing from the main stars but the music and dancing is great. my friends I went with enjoyed it more than me though.

Thats enough from alyssa the critic.
    HOW MUCH ?

Thanks Alyssa. Not sure when we will be back over in the big smoke, thanks for the first hand review though. I wouldnt worry too much about the bacardi breezer etc, esp if you hadnt had any syns all day. Cant wait for it to be re-released - it and grease and my 2 favourites!!

Trying very hard to stay on the wagon today after falling off with style yesterday. Going out for dinner for DS birthday tonight though (its not until sat). I will try v v hard - promise! Although, even if I do say so myself I have made a mean birthday cake (football shaped, I have to do a football pitch for his party on Saturday)

Hi Alison, well done on the loss and best wishes for your sons wedding this weekend. I hope it all goes to plan and that you have a brilliant day. Maybe the nerves and adrenalin will help you lose a bit more!

Thanks for that. I am just trying to relax and enjoy! But on a money saving note, my daughter in law to be's family is spending such a lot of money on this wedding. I would have been bargain hunting like mad to get the same quality but inexspensive. (whoops this isn't the wedding forum!!

    Cheers.

    Hi All,

Have been doing really well up to now, but the last 2-3 days I have been really picky and eaten over my points every day. (am on weight watchers) I really want to stay on track and get to my Xmas goal. Can someone kick me up the @rse!! And give me some ideas of how to stay on track when you have been doing this for a few weeks.

  • Hi Flis kick up the jacksy coming your way, lol.
It's hard when you lose the plot, as I know from bitter experience, but you can get back the motivation. Try writing a for and against list to remind yourself why it's important to you to lose weight. You may think it's all "for", but there are lots of "against" reasons we don't always realise are there.

For instance, I had a member who said that her main reason not to lose weight was that her husband had always loved her and she had always been big. She was afraid he would go off her if she slimmed. Another reason may be thinking that you can't socialise if you're slimming.
All these "against" reasons can be rationalised if you sit and think about them.

Also, get out your books and read them from the beginning, it may help to give you back those feelings of excitement you had when you first saw the diet and just knew it was going to work for you.

Try some new food, it can get very boring, eating the same stuff all the time, and boredom is one of the biggest diet killers!

    Good luck!!

I'm on a mission today - got to look after my daughter's little charges (she's a childminder) while she goes for physio on a bad ankle. That should be fun as there are three of them under 4 - no doubt I'll spend the morning playing with Barbie and having tiny cups of pretend tea with plastic toast (very SW friendly) :rotfl:

Later I'm off out to lunch with my parents. It's Dad's birthday and Mum is feeling sufficiently well for us to go out and eat which is a very good sign as she's been completely off her food for the last fortnight.

Have a good day everyone
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

Hi folks, sorry I've not been around much. I've just found out I'm pregnant, which was a bit of a surprise but not entirely unpleasant!

So things are kind of on hold until I see the doctor next week, as it's very early days at the moment. I've been munching tangerines and broccoli because my folic acid hasn't arrived yet, but I suspect getting tough with the weight loss might not be encouraged right now (I'm a bit sad about that, I was looking forward to starting afresh next week). It's all very new and scary, but exciting - I think I'll be using my holiday next week to plan a way to tell my boss :o.

PS if anyone knows of something baby-friendly which relieves incredibly sore boobs, please PLEASE tell me the secret (sorry boys!).

I'll still be around and I'm thinking of all you guys doing the business to fit into slinky festive frocks! :)

Cheers Suggs - I hope you are feeling well at the moment, I'm sorry I haven't much time just now to read through all the posts I have missed.

I've just dutifully had another tangerine (I'm thinking this could get boring already ...!) and now I'm off back to work. It's so hard not to tell everyone but I think I'm only about 5 weeks gone so I want to wait until the new year before I tell the people I have to see every day, just so as I don't tempt fate.

    Exciting! :)
  • Well, hello all.. I had no idea there was such a supportive weight-loss thread on these forums :D Well done you lot!! I'm trying to get my diet back on track after several months of yo-yoing up and down 3 or 4 pounds. I have an overwhelming (to me) 6st to lose to get my weight within the healthy range :( but I am completely out of motivation and need to fight myself to get back on the wagon, once there I think I will find it a bit easier for a while. I'm currently putting £5 per weigh-in (weekly) into a tin and will allow myself to retrieve my saving when I get to my first goal, which is 25lbs, I am only at 11 so far and I have £140 in my tin (the keen mathmeticians amongst you will realise I have been at this for a while!). I do feel like I am never going to get to my first goal, let alone my final target. So I think I will throw myself into this thread and hope that I can be inspired by your collective successes :T Are you all following a program for weight-loss?? I tend to use the WW 20 point formula when I am running properly.

Congratulations Eels, what a lovely (if unexpected) surprise. I am thrilled for you. Good to hear the cravings have started already!! It takes a while gettin used to the shock when its not planned (speaking from experience here :D) but you will soon be loving every minute of a new born baby - i'm not the teeniest tiniest tincy bit jealous, honest!

Welcome to Devils Nose. Try not to look at the total amount you need to lose, instead break it down into say stones, or half stones at a time, then it seems much more achievable. You've lost 11lb so far which is brilliant, well done. There are a lot of sw-ers and ww-ers on here, though it seems the majority are now following their own plan so you are not alone. The saving scheme is a great idea by the way.

Have just gor home after leaving DH in the hospital. I stayed until he went to theatre about midday for his knee op, I have just rang and he is in recovery now and it went ok. I'm just pottering about trying to keep busy until I can go back up to see him later this afternoon. Suggs- how's your knee doing?

Consultant - hope the childminding isnt too stressful, and you enjoy your lunch. Glad to hear your mum is feeling better.

    Take care all
