  • Hi every one
not been on for a few days. for some reason after a certain time i can't connect to the internet. I wonder if it's just something to do with talk talk or it's my computer. Anyway on friday I went for my first brace fitting. I have to wear it for 9-12 mnths. I never thought at 35 I would be wearing a brace. I have to remove it to eat. which so far is helping against snacking because I can't be bothered to take it out so I can eat a sweet or a biscuit. I went to my childrens halloween disco on Friday and they were coming round with toffee apples and pastrys which I kept refusing because of my brace. the only thing is I do keep dribbling my wine and I talk with a lisp. oh well only another 3 years to go!

I do like the sound of that s/w duck recipe where you take the skin off and spread with mango chuckney. I'm going to try that. today is a red day so I have a big joint of lamb for sunday. It's my favourite meat. I actually like eating the fat but I've been good and cut it off.

Hi Myrtle - we all get days like that, and there's probably some deep rooted psychological reason for it like having unmet needs or something, and the only thing I can suggest is to try your best to only have healthy snacks or free food (if you're doing SW) around the house so you're not tempted with high calorie snacks. Easier said than done, I know!

And don't beat yourself up about having a bad day - start again tomorrow and put today behind you. Nobody's perfect. :)

Madauri I hope the rice and Lemsip did the trick for you. I warned you to stand back from the computer, I bet that's where you got your sore throat!!

You know Rachel it's a scandal the way those Maltesers just jump into your hand when you're shopping - I've noticed it myself :rotfl:

Suggs I can't wait to see you in your little black dress. Ooooh, if you look better in yours than I do in mine I shall spit!!

Alyssa my daughter was thinking about having a brace for a twisted front tooth, but she thought it wouldn't work because she's too old (26). I shall tell her about you - mind you if she's liable to dribble her wine she may decide not to bother, she'd hate to waste it :rotfl:
Actually I bet it really helps to stop you snacking - might get one myself as an alternative to having my mouth sewn up :D

Myrtle when you're really ready you'll be able to do it. I do think that a large percentage of slimming successfully is in your head - you need to be in the right frame of mind to make the right choices.
I think you said you used to be a WW, is that right? Do you buy the mags? What about going onto the website (if you can as a non-member) and dig up some new recipes. The key is planning - plan your meals in advance so that you always have something tasty but low syn/point to grab when the munchies strike. If it's at all possible, try not to buy in stuff that tempts you, then you're not having to try so hard to resist (I used to buy fruit cake for my family cos I can't stand it, lol). You can do it!
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

 What a nightmare - I can't go for more than a day without access to the internet, I'd be having withdrawal symptoms! :rotfl:

Sounds like a fantastic way to lose weight, maybe we should all try it. It reminds me of someone I knew at school, who was seriously obese at the age of 15, and had her jaws wired together. She could only eat liquidised food, but managed to liquidize Mars bars so she could still eat chocolate!

Hi all - I hope everyone's had a good weekend, and those who are sniffling, coughing or generally under the weather are all on the mend. (I've disinfected my keyboard and screen to try and avoid catching anything, as it's obviously spreading amongst us somehow!)

Everyone's very busy at the moment - is this autumn cleaning a new fashion? I really must get round to doing some myself, although it's usually the run up to Christmas that has me doing anything more than the usual.

I was busy in the garden today, pruning and deadheading and having a bit of a tidy up while OH mowed the lawn, then as it was so mild we decided to take a walk along the river and ended up doing about 5 miles, so I'm pretty tired now.

I'll be back tomorrow to do the weekly update - have a good week everyone.

She's not too old at all, and she'll probably find it's worth it in the long run - I had orthodontic work done when I was in my late 20's and improved my smile so much, it gave me a lot more confidence. She may not be as self conscious of a twisted tooth as I was of my teeth - I had a gap between them and they stuck out, but a few months of discomfort can make a big difference.

Morning everyone. I haven't posted much over the weekend because I've had a really tough time with motivation. It's really disappointing because I'd been doing so well. Sadly I haven't yet found myself into the next stone bracket as a result - only losing 1lb means I'm now hovering between them! At least I did lose something - in spite of the nougat bar, the yorkshire puds and the Twix ...!

I think these cold dark mornings are making it ultra-difficult to get up, and without exercise I feel sluggish so then it becomes a vicious circle. Anyway, I'm just going to have to sort it out somehow, I can't make such a good start and then abandon it, so - moan over.

Well done to all of you who're hanging on in there, in spite of not feeling cheery in some cases. It's a whole new week! :)

your never too old to fix your teeth if they really bother you. My cousin has just finished having her teeth done at the age of 30. she say's it was worth all the discomfort and the money. she has a lovely smile now and it's made her more confident.

But it definatly helps with the snacking. I'm finding so far I'm just sticking to 3 meals rather than keep taking my brace out. and last night instead of having my usual ww bar at 5 syns I had a highlight drinking chocolate for 2.

has anyone tried the snack a jacks popcorn. lightly salted is 2 syns. butter toffee is 7.5 syns but tastes just the same as normal popcorn. so far I've only seen them in tesco's.

good luck to everyone getting weighed today.
