Hi everyone and welcome new comers
well I have been truley off the wagon for the entire week. I have however bought some butternut squash chunks for tonights tea. I'm going to make a pie. the question is do I put them in the pie or do I roast them and serve them on the side. I have never eaten butternut squash before. though I did used to give it to my children mushed up when they were babies.
It's food testing tomorrow night. so I really want to go but I'm feeling a bit scared about getting on the scales so I am in two minds about going.HOW MUCH ?0 -
Hiya Dave  come back! We could do with some blokes here! May encourage my other half to make more of an effort - he eats what I give him (which is usually good but then has other stuff on top)
Today has been much better so far - just had sweet potato chips for lunch (yummy!)
Have walked what feels like another 10 miles with mum around yet more shops today doing the Xmas shopping - have nearly finished now, only 2 people left to do.
Rugby's on at 3 (on BBC1) so off to watch that - I'm Welsh and was chuffed to bits with the Wales v Australia game yesterday (thought we were going to get hammered - ended up in a very good draw). Sorry to all those English amongst you - will be cheering on New Zealand this afternoon (just to annoy English OH!).0 -

Just go for it - what they gonna do? Shoot you if you've gained a pound? You will enjoy the food testing and it will help get you back on track for next week.
Right folks - I am the most fashion-unconcious person I know and I have a big dinner-dance coming up very soon. I have bought a lovely full length midnight blue dress (British Heart Foundation £12 - hows that for money saving?) but it has straps rather than sleeves. Not being the most sveldt person around I am rather self conscious about my 'chicken wings' and would prefer to cover the tops of my arms, at least partly. Trouble is with what? Asda have two possible tops in their xmas sections - one is like a little bolero jacket (black velvet) and the other is a silvery grey one, which looks delicately crocheted. Any budding Trinny and Susannahs out there who could advise? I needed my 10yo daughter with me to advise on the dress shopping - more into slacks and tshirts normally.0 -
I'm not a fan of black and blue together so would definitely go for the silvery number - will look very eveningy and festive - what about a pashmina type of thing? You could keep it on until you've had a few drinks when, if you're anything like me, you really don't care any more and could be out dancing in your bra and knickers!:j Arms don't worry you any more after a few cheeky vodkas!0

Rachel, my dear, the dance is for my dhs work and is for all those getting long service awards. I think the very thought of me dancing in my bra and knickers may well be enough to have him sacked by the Monday (or resigning). That image is enough to keep me well away from the cheeky vodkas all night! By the way, the dress is velvet too if that makes any difference0 -
Katyk definitely the silver grey one - it should look lovely with midnight blue. Enjoy your dinner-dance!
I've just been out to lunch today in a burgundy trouser suit I picked up at the local Red Cross shop for £8. I got some admiring comments on it and instead of letting them think it cost a fortune, I had to tell them where I got it - like you, I love a bargain!
Alyssa if I were you I'd go to weight-in, or you may find yourself slipping next week too. Hopefully it will be the nudge you need to get you back on the wagon, and anyway, it may not be half as bad as you think (fingers crossed!!!)
Honey you know it may be that it's because your class is on a Monday that all those old winter clothes are too big. When classes are on Wednesday or Thursday it's very tempting to think you can go overboard during the weekend 'cos you've got time to pull it back before weigh-in.
The franchise for a Rosemary Conley class is almost £18000.00  so that's probably why, when they close, it's a while before anybody else takes it on.I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -
Evening everyone
so many newbies again, i'm having difficulty keeping up !!
Well so far i've done ok (sort of) this week. I was really good on Wed & Thurs :A Friday got a bit out of hand. It was my last day at work so we went out for lunch (but i had salmon salad & only 1 beer). Problem was i got to my Mums to collect DD & she gave me champagnethen wine
so OH had to collect me & i just carried on
Was good sat until we went to sis's house, we all put a huge shed up and then lugged books into it, so i deserved the 4 alcopops, 2 pints, 1/2 bottle champagne (present from mum) & 1/2 bottle of mint choc liquer  also the absolutely stinking hangover this morning  am glad to say it wasn't just me, we all felt awful!
Am starting my new job tomorrow so a little nervous. Taking a packed lunch and got 48 hours to undo this weekends damage, wish me luck!

Wise words, as always. Thank you Consultant.
Good luck tomorrow Loopylou - your weekend sounds like a good one :rotfl:0 -
Evening all. Would have posted earlier but I wasn't quite up to typing ... the world was still rocking a bit  ! Had a bit of a blowout at a charity bash last night:beer: ... anyway, I paid for it this morning with an almighty hangover. That's what happens when you wisely decide to mix red wine, rum, and some random cocktails (whisky, vodka, red bull and something worryingly Aftershock-like?). Anyway, to couple my alcohol excesses I ate about half a loaf of toast when I got home (but I only put Laughing Cow on it! :A ), then the only thing I could possibly eat today was sausage, egg and beans .... then for dinner I had a cheese toastie made with the toastie-machine I won! The only real upside is that I danced and danced and danced last night, as my aching legs will testify. :j Oh, and I had to go and buy new trousers beforehand because the ones I'd planned to wear were too big!
Dread to think what tomorrow's weigh in will bring ... must try harder next week I think. The work rota is much better from now on so I'll hopefully not get so out-of-control with meal planning and crappy lunches. Back in the saddle! :T
Welcome to all the newbies ... they're flooding in at the moment! I hope that lad Dave returns, what with poor Suggsy out of action for a bit we need to keep the male contingent up! Hope you're feeling better for that matter Suggs, and Mr honey too. Another vote for silver katyk - it sounds like you're going to look stunning. I didn't know you were an Aberdonian quine! Good luck with the new job loopy-loo - I'm sure you'll sail through your first day. Don't forget to give us a full update tomorrow night, we'll be waiting ...0 -

Thanks Eels (and all other 'phone-a-friends')
Does this mean that there's more than one overweight person in the granite city then?
There was me thinking I must be the only one who ever went near a chippie...:rotfl:
Good to hear you had such a lovely weekend - I doubt if I could sit up yet let alone read and type!0
