Nope, I'm away over in the Highlands, but I will admit to being quite partial to a hot buttery and the odd bridie! :D

    Hi all

Phew what a busy day on here, I feel like I've been away for ages!

And what a busy weekend I've had, I feel like I need another one to recover! Went to collect the summerhouse yesterday, and my arm muscles are aching now from lifting and carrying the panels. DH was keen to get the summerhouse built (he was afraid he'd forget how it went together if he left it a week :rotfl: ) but getting there took longer than I thought, and we stopped for something to eat on the way back, so as it was getting dark and cold we decided to do it today instead of going to the bike show. I've weeded and raked up leaves so the garden is now looking lovely :D and I prepared some healthy meals to save time this week - some syn free soup, a fish pie with swede and butternut squash mash instead of potato, and pork chops with lots of veg for dinner. Finally, we went to the fireworks display, decided to drive part of the way to it and then walk, called in at the bowling alley (to use the loo) on the way back and decided to stay and play while we had a drink. Now I'm looking forward to an early night!

Dave - don't go, we can help. Why not involve your wife - it will be hard to lose weight without her knowing, although I suppose it is possible. I know a chap who goes on a diet every now and then, usually when he's going off on holiday, and then when he comes back. He doesn't change his main meals, just cuts out snacks between meals, and reduces the amount of beer he drinks. He can lose a stone like that quite easily.

Welcome to Housemouse too - let me know if you'd like to join the 2 pound club.

See you all tomorrow night with the update. Have a good week everybody.

Half a stone in 2 weeks is fabby Flis! You're already so close to your target!

My lentil soup this weekend wasn't great. I had a few mishaps including adding a few more lentils than I intended and only having potatoes in the flat instead of the carrots, parsnips etc that I thought would go in the soup! Still I added a bit of mustard to it and eventually ended up with a very thick mustardy, but very warming, mush! I still ate all of it.

I also managed to mess up rice pudding. I followed the packet's instructions, mixed 25g of rice with 280ml of milk and dumped in loads of sweetner. Baked it at #3ish for 2 hours ish. Wasn't ready at that point so left it in a while longer, promptly forgot about it and woke up in the morning to a very hard brown substance in a bowl  but a relatively warm flat :o

The second time went better and was very tasty but are the packet instructions right? Is there a quicker way to make it? Cheers!
  • morning :)
    oh i'm nervous :o

Morning All. Well Done Flis, you have done so well.

Sounds like you all had busy weekends. I had a nice quiet one which was just what I wanted. Its funny how you look forward to not going out now and enjoying a quiet night in with the fire lit and a bottle of plonk!

Loopy - hope the new job goes well. Let us know later how you get on.

Katy - maybe its too late but the midnight blue and silver def gets my vote - sounds very glam too - have you got silver shoes to wear as well. I got a pair not that long ago for next to nothing in New Look. Cheap but looked the part.

Kids all off to school, house a tip so about to make a start on that then off to Tesco to get the shopping. DD is in school for lunch now so I have an extra hour and half to myself on Mondays. Weigh in tonight. Dont think that i have lost anything again but my clothes are definately fitting much better. Will see what the scales say later.

    Have a good day folks.

    Hi all,
Would love to join the 2 lb club. I'm hoping for me that will be 2 lbs per week.
Weghed myself this morning. Do I just weigh in every week then tell what I've lost? Do I have to let anyone in particular know that I want to join?
Am just going down the route of eating less and walking the dog more. I'm hoping that getting to just having 3 sensible meals a day will kick start it all off and then go from there....
How are others who aren't following a club doing it?

Hi Frankie and welcome. To join the 2lb club drop Lois Lane a PM - or maybe she will pick up your post on here. (see the first page of this thread for details) If you are doing it alone try and make Monday your WI day, failing that just post on here during the week or PM Lois and she will update the chart. Its posted on here every Monday.

There are lots on here who aren't following any club, all doing extremely well.
Stay with us, lots of encouragement and motivation to be dished out!
Have you a target to lose or are you aiming for a particular date? My main reason was my birthday which has just passed. The next one for me is Christmas - I hope to have lost another 5-7lb by then - ooppss, did I say that out loud. Will have to do it then

Morning all. Good Luck Loopy hope all goes well :)

    Hope you are all ok.

Sitting at home feet still up and knee/thigh still swollen, but I feel ok. Trouble is I cant really walk much more than 10mins before it hurts, Tried walking around Asda with OH yesterday and its a miracle I survived :) I must have been wearing a 'bullseye' for the number of near misses from shopping trolleys and small children. So I guess it wasnt the best idea in the world, but I was going 'stir crazy' in the house  OH mentioned that my walking had changed so I guess that the knee was slowing stifening up.

On a plus note, we booked a weekend in Dublin mid december, fly out the Friday early evening, home again Sunay evening. :) So if anone is able to offer any hints and tips I would be grateful. I last went to Dublin a couple of years ago on a stag weekend, but this time will be a little shopping and a little culture :) My parents are Irish from Kerry and Clare but it has been many a year since I have been able to get down there :)

Still watched the rugby so well done Wales, great game, and I thought England played alot better although defeated. You happy with that Rachelmk?? :)

Welcome Frankie and Dave, hope you stick around and get involved. Dave the ladies in are great, so dont worry.

Katyk - I think silver, but then I am a bloke, so what o I know :rotfl:

Lois I think prior to the op I had lost 2lb, the one on holiday, which I didnt post for last week and 1 for last week, I guess this can be posted :)

Honey enjoy Tesco, can you get me fruit and veg? I havent got anything in the fridge :( though I have some 'healthy living' frozen meals.

Well done and congratulations Flis21, you must be really chuffed with yourself.

Jenittels, I have experimented with cooking recently, havent had the chance or the confidence the try rice pudding yet, so cant offer any help there Im afraid.

Sounds like you had a great night out Eels, a charity bash, good drinking and you won a toastie machine :T shame about the hangover, buts thats the price we pay these days :)

Right time for a coffee and to look at Dublin hotels, anyone able to make a recommendation?

    Keep Smiling:T
