stilernin, it is not just a case of domestic or industrial scales or whatever. It is that they are quite a personal item. It seems their mechanism adapts to the use to which they are put and there are small variations accordingly from scales to scales.
That is why it is not so important which scales you use as far as they are accurate. The important bit is to stick to the same set every time you weigh yourself to make sure your records are accurate. As important as weighing yourself regularly but not too often and always at the same time of the day and with similar clothing.
That is why they'll tell you not to weigh yourself more than once a week. There is no point, due to fluctuations.
Also the really important bit to keep an accurate record of your advances is the measure tape. As you lose fat your muscles may get better toned and this will improve your looks and also put more weight in them. So it is the measuring that will tell you whether you are losing those extra inches or not - which is actually what we want mostly.'They can tak' oour lives but they cannae tak' oour troousers!'The Nac Mac Feegle0 -
forgot to say, I've lost one pound this week.
I've spent the morning choosing patterns and materials for the coat and gowns I must make for my Christmas dances, so I hope that will help me to stay away from the fridge in the evenings. No chance of eating and working with that at the same time!'They can tak' oour lives but they cannae tak' oour troousers!'The Nac Mac Feegle0 -
Hi all,
Have been really good again this week, until last night!! We had a chinese, but I was good and had half a portion of boiled rice, half a portion of beef chow mein and a chicken with pineapple. I did have a few prawn crackers tho (I know they are just fat, but I love them!) and a bottle of wine. All in all it was pretty bad, but it could have been a lot worse!
Bonfire night tonight, am going to eat dinner before we go, but I know I will find the roast chestnuts and hot chocolate hard to resist!Sorting my life out to give a better life to my:heartsmil 2 gorgeous boys :heartsmil0 -
im wondering if i can be bothered to go on my treadmill for 20 mins again lol first day off in ages and all i done is housework!!!Official DFW Nerd number 227
Proud to be dealing with my debts!!!!0 -
Well Done Madauri - you're in the flow of losing it now!!
Been gardening again today. Our gardens are very large and very overgrown. This is about the 5th or 6th weekend in a row. Best not let DH see me on here or will be getting told off for skiiving again. My best friend called in for a chat and got told I only had a 15min break  :rotfl:
Got my flu jab this morning so been up and about since before 8am(typical on a lie in day!) Done a bit of housework too, I always like it to be reasonably clean and tidy incase of unexpected visitors. DH calls me Monica, from Friends cos he says I am obsessed with cleaning and tidying :rotfl: If only I was as obsessed and dedicated to losing weight and staying away from evil chocolate!!!
Have a good day folks, better go or I will be getting my pay docked!!0 -
Hello All,
Ive had such a busy few day's I havent had time to 'chat', well done Madauri.
Flis21 I too had had a good week until LAST NIGHT! I have got v bad PMT and had had a very hetic day at work, anyway couldnt think what to have for Tea as my husband and girls were fed up with 'diet food' (I have cooked SW recipies all week, I even tried the scanbran cake!) so they ate chips! and I had poached eggs and then was hungry.............. so nibbled all evening on rice cakes and crackers and cheese triangles. Not very comforting but then my husband got out the red wine and whole nut and I just HAD TO HAVE CHOCOLATE! I ate (well sucked! to make it last longer! How sad is that!) 2 squares of cadbury's whole nut - How many syns is that! plus a glass of wine! well I definatley went well over.
I could't resist weighing myself this morning and have put on a pound! serves me right I suppose - so i'm trying to be good today but my PMT head just wants to eat eat eat. I am trying not to go in the kitchen at all hence on the computer trying to ignore my desire to eat the rest of my husbands chocolate stash.
I have decided to have a veggie stirfry tonight and will make some more sweet potato and red pepper soup. I may make some hummous too for nibbles tonight in front of the TV. I so dont want a gain in my second week - but I do have 3 day's to offical weigh in so I should be more possitive.
Does anyone else suffer with PMS and want to eat like mad for a few day like me?

C31 we were wondering how your soup night went. LOL at the pumpkin soup secret. Bet the ingrediant was something like '15 white cat hairs' and she doesn't want to tell you!
You may not be far wrong - she claims to be "a witch with the gift"
stilernin My class scales are self-calibrating and are insured for £350. I would think that even the best bathroom scales cannot complete with that, so while they may record your weight accurately at the beginning of their life, they will "go off" (if you know what I mean!). The fact that your clothes are tighter could be due to retaining water, but clothes remain a good indicator of weight gain, or of course, loss!
JollyJ Your glass of wine and 2 squares of chocolate would be well within your daily syns, so don't worry about that. The reason your scales showed a gain is probably because you ate (now) unfamiliar food which will hold a little extra water. This should go away as quickly as it came.
I have to try really hard not to shout (loudly) the following:-
d-i-t-c-h ..... t-h-e ..... s-c-a-l-e-s
They can, and do, cause unnecessary grief. If you don't go to class, then may I suggest that you go to Boots or somewhere each week (on the same day of the week) and get weighed on their scales.I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -

If you do your housework energetically, you don't need to go on the treadmill as well (well, that's what I tell myself, lol!)I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -

Had a chinese for tea, Boiled rice with chicken and black bean sauce. Thought that was the healthiest option. According to one of my SW books its not too high in syns in comparison to others. Had no prawn crackers - gave them to the kids and told them to eat them quick!!
Not out tonight, watching x factor and lazing around. Just how I like it!! My arm is starting to get sore from having my injection earlier so I may just milk it a bit and get OH to do the bedtime routine with the kids0
