You have to go with what works for you. There is a lot of talk about SW on this board, which is why I don't post too often. I am a WW devotee, I love the diet and wouldn't do anything else. I did try sw a couple of years ago and found it really complicated and confusing and I didn't get on with it very well. If WW works for you, then stick with it, if not consider trying something different like SW.

HTH and hope to talk on this board some more.

Flis, I think, and consultant and the others may say different, but this board is primarily about losing weight and keep the other members of the board spirits up.

I think that SW has become a favourite, but thats by choice, personally Im totally doing my own thing, cutting down and hitting the gym fairly often as well as playing rugby.

I find alot of the messages very helpful, especially the planning one recently, just a shame I cant always plan that well. In addition reading about other peoples experiences and how they avoid or deal with pitfalls, really helps me. :)

Suggs - don't let the crisps get you again! They're far to easy to consume quickly - get something harder to chew on! Hope things go well tomorrow :) How long are you in hopital for?

Hopefully only the day for keyhole knee surgery for a torn meniscus, but still waiting on Bupa to athorise it, as my company renewed on the 1st November or so I thought!

Otherwise I hope to be walking around Monday, but cant drive for a few days, the gym maybe a few weeks away and rugby could be the new year :( so I will no doubt be asking for more help from you guys.

Right back to ringing Bupa up again!

Hi, I am new to this thread but have read back over the last dozen or so posts.

I am a fan of SW. I joined in the second week of Jan this year and lost 4st by end of Aug. I lived on my own, so in someways it was easier perhaps. To begin with, I lived on loads of home made veg soups. Very thick (lentils, beans etc) and very spicy (curry, tumeric, chilli etc) to be tasty, all whizzed up to make a soup.

I couldn't believe the 'all you can eat' promise but it did work if you stuck to the rules. We all know when we are kidding ourselves don't we?

After a couple of months I began to know the difference between hunger, thirst and just fancying something. As long as I know the difference I can decide whether to eat, have a drink or indulge. In fact, I simply can't eat the same volume any more.

Luckily I love fruit, veg, pulses etc. Also happy with baked spuds and loads of chopped up salad.

I'm no saint, and still have a stone or so to go but at last I can buy 'normal' clothes.

If I have a bad day I compensate immediately by trying to have a 'free food' day.

Am temporarily living with others at the moment so not so easy to know what has gone into recipes, but will be back on the wagon as soon as I get my new place.

Didn't mean to ramble on but I was a sceptic at first and was converted!!

Well Done Stilernin, thats a great acheivement so far. Welcome to the thread to you, and also to Jetty and Donzerella. The more the merrier!
Flis, Sorry you think that SW is dominating the thread. I think Suggs explains it well - it just so happens that a few of us who are regular posters on here follow SW. There are lots following WW but who dont post on here as often. But as well as that there are many others who are not following any plan, Suggs, Tall Girl, Madauri included. Please dont let that put you off posting on here. We value everyones comments and support everyone. As Suggs says, we are all here with the one aim and that is to lose weight. It shouldn't matter what plan any of us follow - as long as it works for us is what matters!!

Suggs - all the best tomorrow with the op. DH has to have a similar one in a few weeks but as it was pre-existing BUPA wont cover it and we are having to pay for him to go privately  Good timing just before Christmas! He will be out of work for up to 2 weeks and on crutches for 6!!
Jetty - I'm intrugued as to what a negative calorie diet it

I remembered to buy the carrots and coriander today so am off to make a large pot of soup. Back later

TIP: Dont grate the carrots. I did and ended up grating part of my hand/wrist  Oh well, maybe it will taste better :rotfl:

The soupd was a success - despite the extra bits!! And free on either red or Green day (give or take a stock cube) I really enjoyed it and am full up from it.

I keep meaning to ask you Consultant How did the soup night go at your class this week? Any nice recipes for us to try?

Honey - I've seen this for sale on eBay - here's a link

I've never tried it myself so shouldn't really comment, but I imagine it is a very strict, low calorie diet that is followed for short periods, rather like the cabbage soup diet (hopefully without the side effects!).

    Interesting discussion....

I lost 8kgs in 8 weeks through changing my diet and exercising 6 days a week.

Go to the gym for three weeks (15 days out of 20) and you will start to see yourself transform. You need to push yourself though. Sweat is your friend. It's not a fashion contest, don't go there to be seen, go there to be sweating.

I cut out a lot of fat, grilled not fried everything, took fat metaboliser pills etc. and the fat fell off.

I recommend spin cycling classes and a trip to the sauna/steam room every day too.
