Consider yourself booted, MissMP, then stop putting yourself down!
We can all have blips like this. Granted it does sound like a corker but nothing is insurmountable, especially with the support you find on here. Best to put it behind you - don't start thinking you have to 'make up' for all the extras and eat next to nothing as all you will do is turn your metabolism on it's head and, in all probability, get so hungry you will head for another binge.
Tomorrow, as they say, is a brand new shiny day!

Hello Everyone
Well I got weighed in this morning at SW class and lost 4 1/2 llbs:j I am very pleased with my first week on the plan and a good loss, Ive promised myself a manicure when I loose 7lbs so am hopping to have a good week this week too.
Opps I didnt realise I should be counting stewed fruit! Thanks for that.
ConsultantI am thinking alot about Christmas as I usally manage to put on 10llbs or more! I love all the savory things espically nuts!! The last 4 years Ive been at my Mum's or sisters who always have lots of lovley nuts and nibbles out and I cant resist. This year I have invited everyone to stay at my house hoping I can be more in control, and try and cook some SW alternatives. So any tips and idears would be great. Our SW consultant told us how many syns were in mincepies, dates, cream, xmas pud etc this morning it was very scary:eek: no wonder I pile on the pounds in such a short time.
I have made some rice pudding tonight (free on green) passed on to me at class today and it's yummy! 4oz of pudding rice with some sweetner in a pan cover well with water and simmer on hob until soft (took about 20mins, had to keep topping up pan with water) when soft add some Mullerlight vanilla Yog a spoon full at a time to taste ( I added 2) and some nutmeg. Yum Yum
I am enjoying trying out new recipes and the family are eating far more veggies. I did Mediterranean pasta bake tonight - My husband said 'Where's the meat!' but they all ate it (they had garlic bread with it- I resisted the urge to eat some) and he said he wouldnt mind having it 'now and then' they even ate the rice pudding too!!:rotfl:JJ's Weigh-In Diary:rotfl: Total weight lost so Far: 6.5lbs
Week one - lost 4.5 lbs:j. Week Two - Lost 1lb:cheesy:Week Three - Maintained:( Week Four - Lost 1llb;)0 -
That rice pudding sounds really nice, I'll have to try it!
MissMP, do you really walk 9 MILES A DAY?
Blimey! That IS hard work!
About the Christmas food: I don't have much trouble with having nice low-syn meals for Christmas. Example meals could be:
-for a red day: caviar on toast. With a dash of lemon on top, you can skip the butter. Salmon or sea bream with roasted parsnips and other vegs. JJ's rice pudding with some cinammon and clove for extra-christmassy flavour.
-for green: vegetarian lasagna. Roasted butternut squash with bacon (HE. Celery & (low-syn) dips for starters. Potato & onion cakes. Berry fool.
The problem is in the extras. You can use most of your syns to have some wine, liquor, choccies, but when they are around all the time and you lose count...:eek:  Need I say more?
By the way, how many syns would this have on a red day: a typical treat of myself for xmas is dates wrapped in bacon bunged into the oven for 15 minutes (till the bacon is crispy). They're extra-yummy and so easy! Also you can use prunes and dried apricots instead of dates, but these are my favourites. They can be made in the micro as well, just beware - it takes less than 5 minutes!'They can tak' oour lives but they cannae tak' oour troousers!'The Nac Mac Feegle0 -

On a red day your lean bacon would, of course, be free, but the dates are 2 syns each, prunes ½ syn each, dried apricots are 2 for 1½ syns - so you're better off with the prunes really!
JollyJ It is scary when you see the syn values of all the things you've merrily put away over the years, but it is possible to choose a lower syn way to enjoy Christmas. I have a menu plan for both days keeping within the 15 syns. I've left them in my box at the group venue, but will try and pick them up and post them both over the weekend.
Welcome to Texas Rodeo Gal - I'm sure that the sushi is one of the healthiest choices to make if you're eating out - as with all things, enjoy it in moderation.
Lois did you get the syns for your choccy yet? In order to look it up on the syns calculator, we need the info from the nutritional panel.
I think the best way to approach Christmas so as not to undo all the hard work you've put in over the last months, is to remember that Christmas lasts for 2 days not two weeks.
Regardless of what you indulge in, you can't do too much harm in 2 days, but if it stretches to the period between Christmas Eve and the 2nd January it's going to be very easy to put on an awful lot!!
You don't need will-power, you have choice-power!!!I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -

Lois, Who is the manufacturer - nothing come up under Fair trade? Failing that, give me the calories etc and I will use the calculator.
Hi Honey - thanks for checking, I was going to check the nutritional value for you to have another look, but when I went to the cupboard to get it, it was gone!! DH took a fancy to it for his lunch - he said it had been in the cupboard for a week so he didn't think I wanted it....:rotfl: Oh well, that's saved me eating it, however many syns it was :A

Evening all - I hope everyone is well. I've managed to catch this sore throat and cold that's being doing the rounds, so I'm planning on an early night with a hot toddy.
Christmas is a nightmare for slimmers, and the thing I find hardest is going to other people's houses to eat, firstly because I don't have any control over what I eat, but mainly because there are so many tempting things on offer, and if there aren't plenty of healthy options I end up hungry which makes it harder to resist temptation.
If I'm the one doing the entertaining I set myself a challenge to offer lots of tempting, tasty but healthy food so I can stick to the plan and hope the guests don't go away thinking they've spent the day at a health farm!
It's very hard to resist filling the cupboards with all the usual Christmas goodies, just because it's what everyone does and they're everywhere you look in the supermarkets. The problem is that once the 2 days are over, very often the mince pies, chocolates, biscuits, christmas cake etc are still there, and the inevitable happens. It's difficult when other members of the family, specially children, expect to have them, but it's just as bad for them to overeat and stuff themselves with unhealthy food, so it's worth trying to compromise.
I've got a few useful recipes for Christmas that I'll look out and post on the recipes thread. My RC consultant emailed me a Christmas cake recipe, but I'll need to work out the syn values for the ingredients before I post it.

Please may I have a boot if there is a spare one somewhere? My healthy eating last week turned into 'how much junk food I could eat'. At least I have found a cure for the evening munchies - have them at lunch time! I drank a glass of wine (when I haven't had a drink for years) managed to eat a whole tub of Pringles (my lips were sore for days) ate bags of chocolate brazils, cashews, cheese biscuits....you get the picture. I was too full to even try any food in the evening and my daily 9 mile walks were down to 5 miles and were a struggle on all that junk food. The scales showed a maintain this week. I have decided to try to follow a plan (from tomorrow) and have opted for the WW No Count plan as I have the book and a friend lost a load of weight on that earlier in the year. I need that boot please!
Hi MissMoneypenny - you sound like an ideal candidate for the Day One club! We all fall off the wagon for reasons best known to ourselves, but as Consultant says, the trick is getting back on again. Don't be too hard on yourself, put it behind you and make a fresh start - tomorrow is Day One.

Lois, OH's eh?!!! Oh well, maybe it was for the best
JollyJules - 4 1/2lbs in your first week is brilliant. Well done!!
I had made SW rice pudding but didnt know about the muller light, that sounds much nicer.I made waaaayy to much though and ended up having it for days and sickened myself with it. It is nice as an alternative to porridge for breakfast
Speaking of breakfast, I take my cereal to work everyday. On the occasional day I will have brown toast in work but that uses up my healthy extras. Any alternatives? We have a canteen that does all the usual sausage/bacon/egg but its laden with fat. No porridge and no microwave to make my own in. Fruit is an option but it doesnt fill me and I end up hungry mid morning.0 -
Hi,
I'm very excited as I've been to SW WI tonight and have lost 4lbs!!!
Admittedly I have been much better this week - have mostly stuck to the plan with a few little treats here and there (tried to stay within the syns limit but didn't quite on one or two occasions).
I'm really chuffed as it means that I have lost the 3lbs I put on during holidays and lost a little bit extra to boot.
Came home and made leek and potato soup (hadn't even read the discussion about it here - must be the cold weather making everyone crave soup) and had 2 slices of nice granary toast wih it. yummy and filling.
Have just got back from taking the dog for a very brisk 30 mins walk - the only way to keep warm outside was to virtually sprint! Dog didn't know what had hit him!
My mother and sister are visiting from Friday evening until after lunch on Sunday to try to blitz the Christmas shopping with me - so I'll have to be 100% good until then and try to stick to the bare minimum of a diet whilst they are here.
Have a good evening
Rachel
