Hi all,
I was doing the Slimming World diet but moved to the States and I want to carry on. So...I just love the sushi over here and was wondering if anyone knows any syns of sushi?
Thanks!0 -
Lois, I will go look now......
Lois, Who is the manufacturer - nothing come up under Fair trade? Failing that, give me the calories etc and I will use the calculator.
Went to tesco with kids, so stressed forgot to buy carrots and coriander - thats that out tonight then! Doh!!0 -
Hi Texas Rodeo gal, I dont think Sushi is too high in syns. A quick search under basic food brought nothing up. I knew M&S did their own so I searched it so you could get a rough idea (obv you wont have M&S over there!!)
Marks & Spencer Sushi, Vegetarian, chilled 210g pack

Marks & Spencer Sushi Selection, Medium, chilled 85g pack
Original 5 Syns Green 2½ Syns
Hope that helps - enjoy the new life abroad!0 -
Oh honey I know the feeling you come back and forgotton what you went for and I dont even have any kids.
Why don't you try leek and potato soup or if you haven't got that I bet you have frozen peas, they make a nice soup with Onion and chicken stock. Sorry don't know the calorie or syns value.Save £12k in 25 No 49

Hi Tall Girl,
I tried a leek and potato soup today and it was really bland. I'm wondering if maybe I ought to have added an onion. Any thoughts anyone?

I normally add an onion to the soup. Did you use stock cubes?
Has anyone tried Yogurt raisins? I buy them for my kids as a healthier alternative to sweets/crisps in lunch boxes etc. Just had a packet of the asda ones, 15g in a box and only 3 syns per packet. They are a real "sweet" fix. I think you get 5 or 6 boxes for 70p. They are with the dried fruit/nuts/raisins beside the fruit.0 -
Hi Honey,
This was the recipe;
Thanks for the advice.
Leek and potato soup (Serves 4)
Ingredients
8oz/227g potato, diced
3 medium leeks, washed and sliced
2 sticks celery, chopped
2pts/40 fl oz water
1 tsp celery salt
1tsp mixed herbs
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
1. Place potatoes, leeks and celery in 2pts boiling water and simmer for 10 mins.
2. Add celery salt, herbs and seasoning and simmer for 25 minutes. When cool, liquidise and reheat before serving.
Syns per serving: Green: FREE, Original: 2 Syns
This recipe first appeared in Slimming World magazine, July/Aug 19980 -
Mmm, I would tend to add some stock to it to give it a bit of flavour, or even more herbs. I know that there are syns in the stock cubes but what you are actually getting is negligible (unless you eat the whole pot on one go!!)
I make leek and potato soup by sweating an onion. Add the leeks and chopped potatoes and approx 1- 1.5 pints of chicken (or veg) stock. Add pepper and some mixed herbs for flavouring.(you could add salt here but we dont have any as we dont use it). Simmer until potatoes are cooked and all veg is softened.0 -
Well done to Fliss and your 6lb loss and to all the other losers.:T
Hi to Sally.
Happy birthday to Honey.
Welcome back from your holidays Suggs "scrabble" or whatever you call it, seems to be good for losing weight.
Please may I have a boot if there is a spare one somewhere? My healthy eating last week turned into 'how much junk food I could eat'. At least I have found a cure for the evening munchies - have them at lunch time! I drank a glass of wine (when I haven't had a drink for years) managed to eat a whole tub of Pringles (my lips were sore for days) ate bags of chocolate brazils, cashews, cheese biscuits....you get the picture. I was too full to even try any food in the evening and my daily 9 mile walks were down to 5 miles and were a struggle on all that junk food. The scales showed a maintain this week. I have decided to try to follow a plan (from tomorrow) and have opted for the WW No Count plan as I have the book and a friend lost a load of weight on that earlier in the year. I need that boot please!RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.
