Nice to see you back Suggs - I see modesty forbids you admitting to being gorgeous as well as tanned :rotfl:

Alyssa don't beat yourself up about the little gain. You will have learned something from it no doubt, so put it behind you and look forward to a good loss next week.

Honey I envy you the card-making class, I'd love to learn how to do it properly. Have fun!
Have you thought about slicing up the remains of the chocolate cake and freezing it, then you can dish it out for a special treat!

Jenpt hope you're feeling better by now - nice to have you back.

Katyk I bought the McKenna book and tape ages ago, listened to it once and found it made me laugh when his voice goes all croaky - not the reaction he wanted to produce I think, lol. However, your post made me think I really should try it again!
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

    Hello

I was just wanting a bit of support and advice etc. got 5st to lose and have underactive thryoid and to add insult to injury am off work with a bad back (have been for over a month).

I did do WW@home but to be honest I cant hack the counting calories (or points!!) I just want good healthy homecooked food and a bit of encouragement. I did start a run/walk programme, but my accident at work and the resulting back pain soon put a stop to that! so now the weight i had lost has come back :( not all of it, but most of it

Aww sorry to hear about your bad back and welcome to the board. We are quite friendly and I am sure you will get lots of advice and encouragement.

I am not an expert on diets just trying to cut out the crap and eat home cooked meals. I do exercise at the gym and I too have a bad back so that really does help. I don't know how bad your back is and your doctor or physio would be the ones to check if you can exercise but I find Pilates to be great. It is very gentle and you wont loose a lot of weight alone with that but is does strengthen your back muscles and perhaps will help you get back fit sooner rather than later. Obviosuly check with your doctor.

That is about it hope you feel better soon, welcome on board take care

Hi Sally and Welcome to the thread. Have you looked at our losing weight recipes collection (see the first post on this thread for a link to it). You will find a lot of low fat/low calorie recipes on there that you can cook at home. There are a lot of WW-ers on here who will help you if you are contuining to follow WW. There are a lot of us following SW too, myself included (most of the time!) As far as I can remember there is a 7 day meal planner on the SW website - maybe you could take a look at it and see if you can work it better than WW - no points or calorie counting, thats what attracted me to it.
Whatever you decide, stick at it and the weight will come off. I have lost more than a stone by doing no exercise although I am finding it is slower to come off now and am starting to excercise. I agree that Pilates is a lovely gentle way to exercise.

As TallGirl says, Welcome aboard, make sure you stay with us and let us know how you are getting on

    Hi Consultant31

I have never tried the book (how can he 'hypnotise' you whilst you are reading?) or the tape. Found DVD quite good to drift away to as it is just constantly changing images of forest, water, rivers, sky etc all blending in and out of each other. You do tend to nod of slightly but I guess that is the main idea. Anyway, I'm still far from cynical myself but attempting to suspend my disbelief long enough to lose the weight. Knew a woman briefly about a year ago who swore blind by it - said it had worked where all else had failed for her. You do have to get past the American voice introducing it - it really is truly awful but only lasts a couple of minutes. Almost made me give up before I started.

Welcome back Suggs - losing weight when on holiday comes under the banner 'showing off' in my book, but well done anyway!

My gym intro is now tonight rather than tomorrow so I'll pop on in the morning to moan at you all about my poor aching limbs....

Me? show off? I hurt :p It was partly being good, partly lots of walking, we were at the quiet end of PalmaNova, but would walk to otherside of the bay and Magaluf everyday, and maybe a little scrabble ;)

Remember to stretch both before and after your induction tonight, if facilities exist, a swim will also help with the aching muscles. Good Luck and have fun!!

  • Hello everyone and well done to everyone who has lost weight :T and maintained this week, it's great hearing everyone's weight-ins.
I go to SW tommorow morning to get weighed in so will report back tommorow. I'm hoping for a good loss as it's my first week on the plan and I have stuck to it well and Flis21 amazing loss has kept me going theses last few days.
KatykI went back to the Gym on monday after a long break, and did half a hour on treadmill and cross trainer, I felt more inspired to push myself on the machines this time, I going back again tommorow morning before my weight in at 10am.
sallywlHello and welcome, I joined SW last Wednesday and I'm am really enjoying not 'counting points'. I have done weight watchers before but am finding SW much easier with all the free foods - no weighing or counting! The free food recipes are really good too. I made the Sweet potato and red pepper soup tonight - it is really scrummy. I also made the Prawn curry in this months Slimming world Mag - also delicious!!! There is an online diet too on the SW website.

I have been eating microwave porridge for breakfast this week which is really helping keep hunger pangs at bay till lunch time. I have an apple tree in my garden and have been stewing the apples to put on top of the porridge to sweeten it...Yum Yum.
I also made the sweet potato chips and the syn free chips this week, so when the family were having oven chips I didnt feel like I was missing out.
Well I'm off out tonight (must be good thought as weight-in tommorow) - Ive saved up all my syns so should be ok.

Hey Suggs, nice to see you again! So you stayed away from the ensaimades? Well done! I know I wouldn't be able to!
By the way, do you know what is a "disgraceful"? It's how we call in Spain a decaff coffee made with skimmed milk and sweetener not sugar.

I've realised I am not hungry most of the day now. I don't skip meals, otherwise it might be different. But the problem comes with the evening. By dinner time I am just starving and I stay like that most of the night.
Well, at least I am not very interested in alcohol. That helps I suppose. I wish I was not interested in chocolate either...
