    Morning everyone,

Well the third day of my diet today, still have my enthusiasm. Back to the gym again today for my second induction session (scary!).

Not sure what to have to eat today. So far this week I had

Day 1 - Porridge, Tomato & Basil Risotto & Spaghetti Bol.
Day 2 - Porridge, Jacket Pot with Prawns & Chicken Tangine with pots & veg

Obviously will have porridge again for breakfast, maybe will have something with noodles or cous cous for lunch today. I am doing very well at not eating any bread, think it will be harder when I am back at work next week tho!

Well, off to have my porridge now!!

I gained half a pound this week and am distraught. I stuck to the plan rigidly apart from the shared indian on Saturday night (although see previous posts - this was in and out as quickly as I ate it :rotfl: )This is the first week in all of my SW days that I have exercised. I walked 3 miles one night and did my workout DVD for 4 night and I gained 1/2lb  I know its only 1/2lb but I stood on the scales and cried :o

Oh Honey, don't cry over ½lb. When you first start to exercise, your muscles hold extra water to protect themselves from damage (so I've been told) and we all know how much water weighs! It may take a couple of weeks for you to see the changes you want on the scales, but don't forget to run the old tape measure round your curvy bits and you should see a change there.
Personally I prefer to see my clothes getting slacker to seeing the scales go down - after all only you know what the scales say, whereas everyone can see and appreciate the fact that your body is looking more toned :D
Hope that makes you feel better!!

Welcome to newcomers JillD and Baz and anyone else I've missed. I'm sure you'll receive the help and support you need on here, along with the boot, when necessary - though I do hope it comes in a smaller size next time, that big one was seriously scary :rotfl:

We've decided we're going to have a soup tasting evening next week in group, so does anyone have ideas for something tasty, easy & quick to make and a little different? Not too many ingredients please, I can't cope with all the ½ teaspoons of this and that. As I've said before, I'm a lazy cook. We've got butternut squash soup and pumpkin soup covered (2 generous members) so any other ideas will be welcome :happyhear
I let my mind wander and it never came back!
  • Not really "different", but a soup I make a lot.
    2 carrots
    1 onion
    slice of swede
    Bay leaf
Water (about 1/2 to 3/4 pint - I never measure it)
    Stock cube

Chop veg, add everything to the saucepan, simmer until veg is soft. Remove bay leaf and blend the soup.

  • Honey when my daughter came home from university the other year, she looked really fit and toned and was a size 8 and is 5'6". She had been walking 3 miles the swimming pool, swimming, and then 3 miles back to her student house. Yet the scales showed her at her heaviest weight ever!

Listen to Consultant. It is the inches that other people see. Muscle weighs more than fat.

  • I saw this one in a magazine, but don't find it so filling as my other soup with swede.

    1 onion
    1 carrot
    Bunch of watercress
    Bay leaf
    stock cube
    1/2 pint of water.

Chop carrot and onion and add to the saucepan with the water, stock cube and bay leaf. Simmer until soft (I often bring it to the boil and then turn it off if I want to go out as it cooks while it is standing). Remove the bay leaf, add the watercress and blend.

Lentil soup - sometimes I add curry powder or chile power to this homemade soup to make something different.

What is the swede soup? I have 4 swedes which desperately need to be used up and couldn't think of what to do with them. Thanks.

Edit: Sorry, have just seen it above!!

Thanks for the encouragement guys.I will hit the thanks button when I get home, for some reason when I am at work it doesnt work.

Consultant - the easiest soup in the world to make and is lovely is Sweet potato and red pepper.

Finely chop an onion and sweat in pot. Chop 2 red peppers, peel and chop 2-3 sweet potatoes. Add to 1-2 pints stock, simmer until veg softened. Blitz in blender and enjoy. My favourite. (its also yummy over pasta)

    Hello - I'm back !
Sorry i haven't been around for a week or two - had major OH problems and came close to chucking him out and then we decided to still go to New York after all as a make or break type of holiday thing and I arrived back home this morning.

Anyway, dietting has been the last thing on my mind recently and although I walked for what must have been about 20 miles in New York I feel podgy again. It's weigh in day today so will force myself to go - even if it's only to assess the damage - and I'm just going to whizz around Tescos to buy food that hasn't been deep fried / supersized / accompanied by lashings of wine!!

Will get back on the wagon and start again from now! I don't want to undo the good work I did up until about 10 days ago.

I'll pop back later with the bad news following SW WI.
Fingers crossed ( but am expecting at least 2 lbs on if not more)

    Take care
    Rachel.

Welcome back Rachel , I hope it turned out to be a 'make' rather than a 'break' holiday.

When we came back from New York in April, I was shocked to find I'd lost 2lbs. But, like you, we'd walked for miles and, to be honest, I found the food over-whelming and couldn't face much of it. The portions are so ridiculously massive that it seemed to put me off (shock, horror!)

I hope your weigh-in is a good 'un!!!

Thanks all for the recipes, I will give them a go over the weekend, and pick one for class night next week (rather fancy the sweet potato/red pepper one, yum)

hello everyone, i keep reading your threads and i think this is a brilliant place for advice and support. After much thought i have decided to follow weight watchers, as for some reason the slimming world plan does not suit me. Does anybody know if it is possible to do a ww version of syn free chips, would i just point the potato as normal or would it affect the point values?Well done to everybody with your weight loss.
