  • well done lisyloo and all other losers.

This week I lost 1/2lb. I'd like to lose at least 1 - 2lb next week so I am going to sit down and plan all my meals for the next week. I'm off to chessington with family on Friday so I shall pack myself and family a picnic of pasta salads and fresh fruit. with some treats for the kids of course.
    HOW MUCH ?

Hi Katyk - that's a shame to lose a class when you were used to it. Have you thought of speaking to your doctor? You can get referred to a gym for the cost of a prescription for so many weeks, and then get a discount on the entrance after that, if you are considered to be dangerously overweight. I imagine that it would cover aerobics classes as well as weights and CV machines.

Different doctors work in different ways. I spoke to mine yesterday and he can refer me to the gym and I get a two hour initial sessions for free, then 20sessions at less than half the usual price (£2.20 instead of £4.70).

Definitely a good idea to talk to your doctor. I am going for my first one hour session today, feel a bit daunted as I have not been in a gym for years, but am determined to do it.

Wow - weighed myself this morning. In one day I have lost 3lb, yipee! Really spurred me on to carry on the healthy eating, and I have my gym session today.

To be honest I got a real surprise when my body fat said it was quite so high as there are many people worse than me. I am 5'5" and around 15 stone so I did not expect it to be good but did not expect 'dangerously' either.

I bought a body fat monitor as I had already used one of these at the gym, to keep a check on my body fat. From what I recall from watching Celebrity Fit Club (when I had a thing about Dr Adam Carey), even lighter weight people can have a high body fat. As muscle burns more calories than fat, I'm trying to do more exercise to build up muscle mass.

I have also bought a heart rate moniter, as I want to step it up a bit every now and again when I am walking the dogs, to push my heart rate up.
RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.

Flis, I'm sorry if i sound like a bith but your weight will fluctuate throughout the week and can depend on the time of day you weigh in, the surface your scales sit on, what you had for dinner last night etc etc.

It's commonly recommended that you weigh yourself just once a week (although many people weigh in less than that) as it gives you a more realistic figure of what you've lost.

It's great that the scales have further motivated you to keep up the healthy eating but if tomorrow they say you've put on a few lbs you'll be so disappointed (i sure tend to be!) when in fact you could just be retaining water or something.

Put the scales away! We all start off by weighing ourselves obsessively then, after nagging from the other people on this thread :D, they tend to get put away (or sold in my case!) and we're all much better from it!

Lots of luck - have fun* at the gym

*as much fun as one can have anyway!
  • LilacLillie: It's good to see you back. Did the meds help at all with your weight or has the period of adjustment ruined the chances of losing? I'm so impressed with you still being determined to lose weight.

My own willpower has definately waned!

Nagging, who's nagging??? Certainly not me, I don't know how to nag, which is why I practice a lot on my hubby :rotfl:

You're right though, I always suggest :D people chuck out the scales, they cause more distress than joy while you're trying to lose weight!

Alyssa well done on the determination! The packed lunch is an excellent way to avoid the pitfalls of a day out.

MissM Fruit is free on SW (including bananas and grapes) so eat as much as you like.
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

    Thanks JenIttels
I haven't given up on losing weight, and have been eating much better.
I haven't put any weight on but have gone up 2 dress sizes over summer. Very depressed about it :(
Saw Dr yesterday and she said the tablets are working (underactive thyroid). I still feel ropey and dissappointed at not losing weight and will try to kick start asap.
So what happened to the SW password then???
Can someone PM me with the latest one please??
