well done Jenpoptab on getting to Goal!:j
JillD -yes, I'm from Northern Ireland - Stroke City but did go to UUJ for a few years. I LOVE Belfast, as I'm coming down the hill from the M22 to join the M2 I always feel like I'm coming home - my first real taste of freedom!
welcome Jollyjules and Ju24. If you're ever low on motivation, then this is the right place to be.
Rachelmk - I'm sorry you're holiday wasn't everything you hoped it'd be. I hope the home situation gets better for you soon ((((hugs)))) Leek and potato soup for tea - yum!
Speaking of motivation.... does anyone fancy giving me a kick start? Day one has been every day this week. I've done so well right up until about teatime and then things have got the better of me. Yesterday I had to call over to my mum's house and ended up eating a white bap (Honey know's what they are - bread rolls) and a lot of other rubbish instead of dinner. Today OH had a lovely healthy dinner ready for us (spicy quorn pasta bake no less!) but we had to visit my aunt and cousin before DS's bed time, so ended up eating a huge slice of cake because I was so hungry.
DS's birthday on Monday (he's 1 - I don't know where the time has gone!) but his party is on Halloween - like I said before, it's a really big deal in Derry - you guys want to visit sometime, it's like nothing you'll ever see - the entire town (almost) get dressed up and there's a "carnival" of sorts etc. and apparently my house has been volunteered for the adult's halloween party after the fireworks! I'd really like to be on track before then so I can deal better with the temptation.....
any volunteers please?

Well done JenPop!!!
I'm so pleased for you (and jealous!). Hope you treat yourself with something to mark the occasion (though probably not an indian takeaway)

Good morning everyone!
Delly consider yourself 'booted'. You've done so well, you can't stop now. Your DS is going to become very active soon and you'll need to be streamlined in order to keep up with him
Have a lovely Halloween - a street party sounds like lots of fun!
Ju24 it's a long time to Monday - is there a reason you can't start today?? Sorry to sound bossy, but in my looooong lifetime of slimming, I have always told myself (with real conviction) that I would "start on Monday" and I've found that it often meant I would probably finish by Monday tea-time. If you can start today, you'll be well on your way to feeling good about yourself by Monday :jI let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -

Hi consultant31
One of the reasons i thought of monday is because i keep changing my mind which plan to follow, i know this is the wrong thing to do. I recently followed slimming world and i love the plan but i didn't seem to lose above 2 pounds or i maintained and was very upset at each weigh in when i knew that i had followed it rigidly. I' d followed the plan for about 8weeks. Along time ago i had done weight watchers and reached goal, so i know it worked for me but i did tend to feel hungrier on ww.Could you give me any advice please, our consultant was brilliant and kept telling me to stick with it but i got disheartened, she's also leaving, so in the end i gave in. I need a kick in the right direction to help me decide and stop dithering.

Hi Ju, I agree with consultant with the " why put off til tomorrow what I can do today" attitude. Why not try one plan for a fortnight say, and see how you find it. If it isnt working for you then change to the other. But make that decision and start with it. Dont keep putting it off because Monday will soon be Tuesday, will soon be Wednesday... and before you know it you will be Xpounds heavier when you could have been Ypounds lighter.
Wonder how suggs is getting on on his jolly holidays...?0 -

Well I'm biased towards SW, obviously, lol.
I wonder if you were following the plan as rigidly as you thought you were. Lots of members who've followed WW find it very hard to allow themselves to eat enough on SW and that won't work. Free foods are meant to be enjoyed in large (dare I say vast) quantities and cutting down on them really is counter-productive. If you can get hold of a SW magazine, why not follow the 7 day plan EXACTLY and see what happens. I'm almost positive that you'll be thrilled with the result. Oh and drink at least 2 litres of water every day.
Ooh, I can't wait to see what happens, cos I know it'll be exciting for you!
Go for it, as they say, you've nothing to lose but the weight.I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -
Well done Jen! thats fantastic!!!!
Well Ive had a pretty good second day on the plan? we had a family day out, so was worried about eating out. Anyway we went to a pizza/pasta resturant and I was very proud of myself for choosing a salad whilst my 2 girls and husband devoured pizza! My salad had Avocardo and Mozzarella and pesto dressing (should of asked for no dressing and took my slimming world book with me) but it was lovley. I figured it was about half an avocardo 7 syns and the mozzarella a b choice, the pesto I guessed at 4 syns so about 11 syns total. My dinner tonight all Free with some fish my other b choice. I am going to treat myself to a small Vodka and Coke now to celebrate being in Controll!!!!!JJ's Weigh-In Diary:rotfl: Total weight lost so Far: 6.5lbs
Week one - lost 4.5 lbs:j. Week Two - Lost 1lb:cheesy:Week Three - Maintained:( Week Four - Lost 1llb;)0 -
- Energy levels are maintained and sustained by eating carbohydrate foods that release their energy (glucose) slowly. Your body is like a furnace, it needs regular fuel to keep it going, the fast at night needs to be broken to re-fuel and start the fire burning again to give the body energy to start the day.
- Missing breakfast tends to slow down the metabolism and makes it harder to burn fat.
- Eating a low fat, high carbohydrate breakfast is the best way to begin the day. Try to have breakfast before 10am so your metabolism starts and the fat burning process can begin.
- The most consistent findings suggest that eating breakfast influences the process involved in the formation and retrieval of memories and in managing complex and challenging information. Breakfast achieves this by raising blood glucose levels which makes sure brain cells are in top form.
- Missing breakfast is an occupational hazard: research has shown a much lower incidence of work related accidents for people who eat breakfast. To boost concentration and alleviate tiredness the brain needs feeding to keep it satisfied and alert.
- Slow release carbohydrates (low GI) induce a feeling of satisfaction and fullness for longer which prevents bingeing on high fat and sugary foods mid morning. Good examples are cereals high in fibre, especially porridge, which is completely natural with nothing added.
- The mood connection is often ignored: feeding your brain with the appropriate nutrients in the morning will cheer you up.
- Breakfast is a stress buster! To help you get through anxieties and problems of the day, eat foods rich in serotonin- enhancing carbohydrates and also B-complex vitamins such as granary bread and oats, but avoid too much caffeine as this will only enhance nervousness and irritability.
- Start the day with water; hot with lemon and ginger will detox the body, fruit or vegetable juice; especially juice high in vitamin C such as orange will help with the absorption of iron when drunk with a meal. Remember our body’s need between 5-8 glasses of water a day to help break down our food and turn it into the nutrients our body needs.
- Begin the day with foods rich in vitamins A, C and B and zinc to improve the immune system. These include citrus fruit, berries, melon, eggs, oily fish, whole grain cereals, wheat germ and oats.

Hi all - how's everyone getting on?
The above post was from my RC consultant, and I thought people on here might find it useful. Breakfast has always been part of my daily routine, I couldn't function on an empty stomach. In fact, sometimes it's my stomach that wakes me up in the morning, before my alarm goes off! I've known lots of people who don't eat breakfast, and some of them went without because they thought it would help them lose weight, when in fact the reverse is true.
At the weekend, I often get up first and prepare lots of fresh fruit - banana, pear, nectarine, orange, grapes - and we have it with muller light or natural yogurt, which saves healthy extras for later in the day. During the week porridge is my favourite, and sometimes on a red day we have a cooked breakfast - bacon, egg, tomato, and mushrooms - yummy.
