    Hi guys

I meant to post on wednesday but I have only just got a chance to do it now. I lost 3lbs whilst I was away. I am now 0.5lbs away from goal weight , I am so pleased. I really can't believe it. I will just have to look into maintaining now.

So I am over 2.5 stone lighter than when I got pregnant with my kids. I can't imagine being at that weight again, and I have no idea how I managed being pregnant and carrying my eldest daughter on my shoulders when I was ready to have DD2 as I was about 14 stone then. When I carry the both of them together now that is about what weight I was carrying then- how scary!

    Anyway good luck to all.

Off to ikea later for some laminate for conservatory.

Well done Jenpoptab, very pleased for you! Brilliant result!

Madauri - been to Barcelona a few times, lovely place. In fact I have a cartoon picture of there proudly hanging in my house (bought on honeymoon there)

Just popped on quickly to wish Suggs a safe and happy Holiday. Wish it was me going on hols... unfortunately am stuck in work :( better go....
  • Consultant, whats York like? We're going to Filey for a week next week and were planning a day trip to York. I thought we'd go to the castle museum with DD & then just have a wander. Someone suggested the shambles, but then someone else said they were very expensive  We don't particularly want to buy loads of stuff but i like getting little keepsakes when we go on hols :D Any recommendations ?
    Thanks,
    Lou.

I love York. It's only 30 miles from home for me, but I only go about once a year and it's usually for shopping.

The Castle Museum is exellent for the whole family - completely fascinating. It may take you quite a while to 'do' it all though! If you do get time to shop, it's true that the Shambles is expensive, but not horrendously so and there's cheap gifts (teatowels etc) as well. You really shouldn't miss the Shambles though, it really is unique. The buildings are only a few inches apart at the top and even though I've been there dozens of times I still get goosebumps at the thought of how many people have trodden those cobbles.

Also if you have time, try to fit in a visit to the Jorvik Centre - again, it's fascinating. You sit in a "time-car" which travels (slowly) backwards to the Viking settlement. There are sites, sounds and smells which make you feel as though you're really there.

Although I can't really see you having time in one day, the Minster is so beautiful that you ought to see it properly. Perhaps you'd be able to come and spend a weekend in York itself so that you can really appreciate all there is to see.

I shouldn't be saying this, so please, anyone of a nervous disposition, look away now - there's an eat all you like Pizza Hut just up the road from the Castle Museum (on the opposite side) which gives you the option of pizza, pasta and salad, buffet style. If you've got children with you, it should prove a reasonably priced place to go for lunch, or tea.
My friend and I just had lots of salad with a bit of tomato pasta :A

I hope you have a lovely holiday. Let me know what you think of York when you return.

Suggs enjoy your jollies too. Come back tanned and gorgeous!!

    JenPT Well done:T

A quick tip for cooking fried eggs with frylight - put a lid on the frying pan - the egg cooks much quicker because it's surrounded by heat, and the skin over the yolk goes white, just like when you splash it with oil.

Right packing all done, leaving in a couple of hours.

Had my pre-op assesment yesterday, as usual the good and the bad news. Good news my pulse is now between 45-52 bpm. blood pressure down a little more 137/88 and my weight is down 2lb so happy with that :) the weight is still a potential problem though and I might not have the op at all  but more likely is that I will have an epidual and sedation instead of the General anaesthetic. I should find out during the week.

Well done Jenpoptab, must be a fantasic feeling, I know I get a kick everynow and then as the older clothes came back out of the wardrobe and are fitting now.

Tallgirl, I'll be down the south of the island, would have preferred to be further north, but ecided it wasnt fair on the kids to be landing at 10ish tonight and then driving for an hour minimum, the poor things will be dying for their beds :)

Lois I always remember been offered that bacon barm cake and replying "no thanks Ill have it in a roll" Felt a silly once explained :rotfl:

Right time to get myself on the go. Big Thank you to all that wished me well on holiday, as long as the kids are happy I will be happy too. Not sure if I can come back tanned and gorgeous for you Consultant, but one can try :rotfl:

    See you next week!

I lost another pound this week! :j

Well, that gives me motivation. And I'm trying to remember how I used to make those platters of fried vegetables with herbs some years ago. I only began to do them that way because I was trying to find a way to eat more greens and cooking them that way seemed to change their taste for better. They seemed to help me slim down for some reason. I should try again, subtituting the oil.

Suggs, well done again! The doctors will decide what's best to keep risk at its minimum, so it they end up putting the op off just be happy that you'll soon get there ;)

Well done on your weight loss Madauri, you're doing really well :T

I like vegetables roasted (in Frylight) in the oven. They seem to sweeten and are so much tastier than when just boiled or steamed. You can sprinkle herbs over as well if you like.

I also like stirfry with all sorts of veg including shredded dark cabbage (which I don't normally like), chopped sprouts, baby sweetcorn etc and a drop of soy sauce or Worcester sauce (both syn-free). Once cooked you can always chuck in a bit of cooked chicken or some prawns, heat through and voila!
