    Hello everyone

I used to be a member of this thread, many moons ago, but I need your help again PLEASE? :o

I am 5ft 6 and weigh 13 stone (see my sig). I've put on weight since DH and I got married in the summer and I need to lose that (and a bit more ;)), get fitter and tone up my wobbly bits. I'm thinking about joining Rosemary Conley classes, as I was a member 3 years ago , when I did lose a bit of weight.

My biggest problem at the moment is will-power. I had a bad time at work in November and I still haven't really recovered. I'm now doing supply teaching, but that's a bit sporadic at this time in the term.

I've given up chocolate and coca-cola (my two BIGGEST vices) until Easter - it's a deal that I've got with my DH because I was so successful last Lent, the stakes have been raised.

    Anyway, that's me!

    Vicky

PS Has anyone ever been to a Jazzercise class? I'm thinking of attending one locally, but need to know what it really entails.

  • 3lb weight gain here too:o I'm so glad I joined this list and took 13 lbs off over the last couple of months before the Christmas scoff.

Well done to those who lost weight.:T Never mind to those that gained weight - it was Christmas and New Year. I'm looking forward to this 1/2 stone challange and have managed to get back onto healthy eating today.

    Welcome to all the newbies.

    Big congratulations to JenP.

My New Year resolution to give up red meat is going well with no cravings yet. Not so good with my giving up coffee - it lasted all of 5 minutes:o
RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.

  • Also, does anyone know where to get good advice on running, ok, power walking shoes for heavy people. I've started running/walking, but it kills my ankles, and I've been told I need good shoes - especially if I'm heavy!!!
    All advice gratefully received!

I always get my walking shoes from running shops as I walk a lot and wear ordinary trainers out. I took my son to Up&Running for his running shoes and would go back there. http://www.runningshoes.org.uk/site3/index.php
They have treadmills for you to try the trainers out and they video your action (just from the knee down so don't panic) to make sure you get the correct shoes. I paid £60 for my running shoes a couple of years ago, but need to get new ones. I paid £80 for my son's runnings shoes as he dips his ankle when he lands and needed the extra support.

Madauri just to point out that parsnips are not free on red either (one of the many reasons I have so many green days).

    What?

I've been using parsnips to substitute potatoes on red days all this time! (not those many times though). I hadn't realised they weren't free, honestly!

I'll remember that now. But the only decent substitute I can think of now is dessicated onion (which has nothing to do, but...).

    Snif.

Just a quick one to let you know what I had for my tea!
I made a veggie version of the Mexican soup from the SW recipe archive (website) and it was absolutely scrummy and very filling.
Basically, you dry fry a chopped onion and sliced mushrooms and then chuck in a tin of kidney beans, baked beans, chopped tomatoes some chilli powder and a stock cube. Add a bit of water and simmer this for about 15mins then sling in a couple of handfuls of dried pasta shapes and continue to cook until the pasta is soft.
Its flipping gorgeous- and I can't cook!!! It's also completely free on a green day.

Diet day no 2 going well so far!

:rotfl: What a great picture Madauri - it made me chuckle!

Don't worry about the parsnips, I'm sure you can't have done that much damage.

My SW consultant gave us a tip to help us work out if vegetables are free on Red days, which was to avoid anything beginning with 'P' - i.e. potatoes, peas, parsnips and pulses.

That sounds really good, I must try it. Another lunch option I think. I had a good first day too - porridge for breakfast, then baked potato and beans for lunch, and Quorn chilli con carne and rice for dinner, all syn free. I put a double serving of chilli in the slow cooker this morning, so I've got another meal to freeze for a later date - think I might serve it with a jacket potato next time, makes a change from rice.

    Hi all

OK here goes with the first chart of the year - I'm not expecting it to be right first time, so feel free to tell me if you want me to change anything, or if I've missed you out, or if I've included you and you didn't want to be included! I'll amend it tomorrow.

Welcome to all the newcomers - please feel free to join in the banter, we were all new to the thread once, so don't be shy!

The Slimmer of the Week award goes to Kberry78 this week with a 2lb loss - well done Kberry :T that's a great achievement considering the time of year.

    Have a good week everybody.

Snap Lois, I had quorn chilli too! All was going well until kids started winding me up about going to bed, that and I am stressed about going back to work tomorrow after a fortnight and I ended up eating snack size snickers and full size caramel. I feel sick and am really annoyed with myself  Hoping that being back to work and in a routine will help me. Have my lunch ready and a large tupperware full of fruit
    Day one tomorrow, already!
