Hi Blitz - next time flick your popcorn at them
Just ignore their comments. Dont let mindless people who obviosuly have nothing better to do upset you. Welcome to the thread!
Welcome also to Kerry. I go to class on my own, although recently my mum joined, then broke her wrist and stopped going. It is hard to go on your own but somewhere I managed to find motivation and keep going. Your friend will be well jealous when she sees the new slim you and will be begging you to take her with you soon!! Good Luck with it! Meant to say, dont let OH put the battery back in, Keep it where it is and only weigh yourself once a week at WW. That way you wont torment yourself because our weight fluctuates during the week and its enough to put you off
Rachel, Count me into the January challenge too please!! Have tomorrow night to get past then back on it 100%. I know its a waste but I am going to have to throw out some mince pies and shortbread cos I'm the only one that likes them and I dont want to eat them! We gave a full tin of celebrations to the nursing home OH gran is in otherwise I would have scoffed them too!0 -
Hello, I would like to join too please. I am currently 11 stone 10 and 5' 5" and my target by Easter Holidays is 10 6. I want to look slim and trim for when I next see my son (the last photo I had taken with him this week - I look like a balloon!) Also, on second thoughts, it could be quite good for my health! :-)0

rachelmk wrote:I'm happy to challenge someone to a "lose half a stone by the end of January" type thing. Anyone up for it? We can start tomorrow if you like with an evening off for New Years Eve if anyone's palnning something calorific (booze/food etc).
Anyone joining me??
Count me in also RachelI hope Boots is open on Jan 1st otherwise it will be Jan 2 when I weigh in next. The bigger scheme of things is aiming for 30lbs to go , this puts me over a very big target, but is the May/June Target.
Blitz this experience is just so typical of the general public. I turn around and very politely ask is there a problem. Most cant handle candy coated confrontation, especially when I point out how imprefect they are (smoking normally) Hard as it maybe we just have to be above these things as we are improving our lives.
Welcome also to Kberry, Kerry, Clarejonne bugbabe and anyone else I may have missed. I find that if you 'subscribe' to the thread with email notification, it acts as a constant reminder
Right a busy day ahead, off to the gym in a minute, might test the knee out a little. Then maybe skinny latte time, then parents, then over to see the better half this evening.
Have a good day one and all, it will soon be EasterProud Member of the Lose Weight Thread on I Wanna..................

Right then - the half a stone attempt will start on New Years day and finish on Feb 5th. (Mine was going to start today but my OH came over all peculiar and decided to take me out for lunch to cheer me up - had bad girlie pains and was very grumpy!)
Like you Honey I am going to "donate" the rest of my Xmas goodies to others because if stays in the house it'll get eaten.
In a "picky" mood tonight with regards to food so am fiddling with the laptop to try to avoid eating, already had a handful of peanut and a mini roll - MUST STOP NOW!!!!!!
If I don't get a chance to pop on tomorrow - Have a Great New Year!!
New Year- New me? Here's hoping!0 -
Hi all
Just a quick question - would anyone prefer the first weigh in and update to be on Tuesday rather than Monday? It may sound like I'm putting off the inevitable, but as people may be away from home/unable to use Boots scales/still recovering from NYE etc, Tuesday may be better..? Let me know what you think - I'm happy to go with the majority.

Hi All
I would like to start and be a part of the weekly weigh in. I intend to start from 2nd Jan New year New me , and currently need to lose about 3 stones!!The longest journey starts with a single step0 -
Hi to Kerry, Clare and Shoeluver - wow all these new members, isn't it great?
Lets hope the positive vibes are still pulsing around after the first month of our new healthy eating regime. As long as we all keep posting, we'll be fine.
A point to remember is that each one of us holds the key to our own success. We choose what we put in our mouths - the new rule is to choose wisely.
That doesn't mean never having anything tasty (or even chocolatey), in fact, in order to be able to live for ever with this new regime, we need to factor in some tasty bits every day.
Whatever plan you choose to follow, be it Slimming World, Weight Watchers or simple calorie counting, make sure you eat enough!! Eating too little is self defeating and ultimately will not help.
Rachel, pick away today, then give away what's left over
Suggs go for it, 30lbs is a lot, but I know you can do it :j
Lois I've never joined in the 2lbs loss club before, but now is the time for me to admit, my members' weight losses have been more important than my own over the last couple of years and I've lost my grip somewhat. So, please add me to any and every challenge going this New Year.
One of my favourite sayings (thanks to Winston Churchill) is;-
"Success is the ability to go from one failure to another with no loss of enthusiasm".
Or, to put it another way:- don't let one bad day stop you trying, after all, if you had one dead flower in a vase, you wouldn't throw the whole lot away.
Happy New Year (again) see you in 2007!!!:lovethougI let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -
consultant31 wrote:"failure isn't when you fall down, it's when you stay down - success comes from getting up, again and again".
Thanks for this quote Consultant31 - alot of posters seem to have a profound statement in their signature so I thought I'd make this mine - but where does it come from so I can credit right person/people?
Those who find it difficult slim in winter with salads and things can you take a flask of soup or cup-a-soup to make it a bit more warming?
Blitz Forget the rude people behind you or do a 'slimmer's version' of a Winston Churchill quote...
Original conversation with Lady Astor (first woman MP):
Lady Astor: You, sir, are drunk!
Winston: And you, madam, are ugly but I will be sober in the morning!!!
"Slimmer's version":
Rude comment made to you by whoever...
You: I know I'm fat but you're ignorant - I'm doing something about my problem cos I'm on a diet but what are you doing about yours?

PS On a Slimming World diet can you use Sweet Potato as a free veg on a Red Day to use in casseroles or something? You should never call somebody else a nerd or geek because everybody (even YOU !!!) is an"anorak" about something whether it's trains, computers, football, shoes or celebs:rotfl:

No problem!!!
Just as long as we know where we are starting from and where we are on Feb 5th it doesn't really matter.
Enjoy until then!0 -
For anyone trying to give up coffee - I would do it gradually or you will get a corker of a headache that can last anything from a couple of days to a week!!!
I did it once and had the worst headache of my life and I suffered migraines from a few years too!!! If I was doing it again I would work out how many I have per day and aim to gradually to have 1 cup less every couple of days - in no time at all you be down to none...
PS Is anyone else addicted to diet cola? I've tried to give it up but nothing else seems to quench my thirst in the same way...?
PPS I've read countless diet mealplans that suggest putting yogurt on cereal instead of milk - how do you carry on if you can't stand taste of natural yogurt? And doesn't it make it harder to eat if it doesn't soften cereal, especially weetabix and similar cereals???You should never call somebody else a nerd or geek because everybody (even YOU !!!) is an"anorak" about something whether it's trains, computers, football, shoes or celebs:rotfl:
