Hi bugbabe and welcome. Don't worry about what you weigh, nobody on here needs to know, we just want to see it going down each week. You'll find lots of help and support on here and there are some fab recipes if you go to post 1 and follow the link.

Will you be following a plan, or joining a club?

My resolutions are to stay off the fags (easier said than done - gave up again today), exercise a bit more and to lose another half a stone (in addition to the Xmas gain).
I would also like to save up about £1000 to go on holidays somewhere hot and lazy in the summer (and be fabulous in a bikini of course!)

I'm happy to challenge someone to a "lose half a stone by the end of January" type thing. Anyone up for it? We can start tomorrow if you like with an evening off for New Years Eve if anyone's palnning something calorific (booze/food etc).
    Anyone joining me??
  • Honey unlike you, I hate challenges, I seem to come over all weak at the very thought
However, I do intend to try and be a bit more organised next year and plan things in advance. I've never been very good at forward thinking, so that's what I'm aiming for - we shall see how long it lasts :rolleyes2

No. 2 daughter is none too pleased with the thoughts of an organised Mum, cos as she said yesterday, she gets far more at Christmas than she expects because I buy stuff in advance, forget about it and buy more stuff nearer Christmas. When I come to get the wrapping paper out (bought in last January sales :A ) there are the earlier gifts I'd forgotten about (think I'm going doolally sometimes, lol).

Anyway, if I don't get chance to come on here before the weekend is over, have a very Happy New Year everyone and get ready to jump back on that wagon again on Tuesday at the latest!!!!

I'll join you. I was going to drink more water/watch what I eat over the weekend and weigh myself Monday morning for the 2lb club. So will half a stone off that weight be ok? I think I might be about 1 or 2lbs up on my pre Christmas weigh in. Anyone else joining in?
RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.

I'd love to join, if that's ok?? So half a stone from this Mondays weigh in yeah??

    Hi all

The 2 pound weight loss club is for people who want to set themselves interim goals rather than being demotivated by the thought of having a large amount of weight to lose. Members aim to lose 2lbs each week (or month if it suits them better), but there are no consequences if this isn't achieved - I won't bash anyone over the head, but Cheekymole will give you a boot up the bum if you want one!

I keep a chart with all the members, their result and their weight loss so far, which I update and post every Monday evening. If you attend a slimming class, just post your weight loss on whatever day you go and I'll pick it up for the next update. If you're going it alone, set Monday as your regular weigh in day and post your results and I'll include them.

I can also include an interim target - for example, many of us are aiming to lose a stone by Christmas - and show how close you are to achieving it.

No need to reveal your actual weight (unless you want to) and I don't need any evidence - there's no point in cheating, you'd only be cheating yourself!

The current chart is here. If you want to join, you can send me an email or a PM, or just post on this thread.

    Good luck :)

id like to join please, i weighed myself & found im 17 stone(shock). Got very upset when i took my kids to see a show & 2 woman behind me started mouthing off how rather loudly, that i sat infront of them on purpose so their kids couldnt see the show, i maybe large but not very tall & thats the only way they wouldnt be able to see(the rows were staggered up). If it wasnt for my kids being with me, i wouldve said something, but didnt want to cause a scene infront of them. Still it made me realise i need to do something.
  • Don't expect too much of yourself! Most slimmers go at it like a bull at a gate for the first few days, missing breakfast, subsisiting on lettuce leaves and tomatoes and, naturally, the enthusiasm soon goes out of the window.

I don't know if you have a plan in mind, but if you're calorie counting don't try to manage on less than 1500 a day. Anyone can lose weight (unless you're not carrying any surplus) on that and try to make sure that the calories are 'spent' on good, wholesome food, which will give you energy and make you feel full for longer.

If you're following a proper plan, take some time to prepare for it. Make sure the cupboards are full of good stuff that you actually like. Try out some new recipes, the same old thing every day will soon bore you out of your mind. Don't force yourself to eat stuff you hate - it won't last and you'll end up feeling a failure. Remember the saying "failure isn't when you fall down, it's when you stay down - success comes from getting up, again and again".

Don't think of it as a slimming diet (something you go on for a specific amount of time) but a healthy eating plan which will retrain your eating habits for a lifetime.

Make a committment to yourself that you will lose say 7lbs by the end of January - this is achievable and when you get there it should motivate you t lose the next 7lbs. Don't aim to lose more than 1-2 lbs a week, this is a healthy rate which won't make you lose lean muscle tissue.

If you hate water on it's own, try it hot with a slice of lemon (it's really nice like this), or you can use a tiny amount of sugar-free squash.

Keep posting and you'll find the motivation from a little friendly rivalry with others on the board - we're all here for the same reason!!

Hope some of that helps :D

Thank you so much for taking the time. The tips are great and I'm goimg to print yur msg and paste it on the front page of my food diary.
I'm not part of a slimming club or following a diet. I've been watching what i'm eating and promising to be more active.
MY GP surgery has a nurse who specialises in weight issues and my GP suggested keeping a food diary for two weeks and then book to see nurse. Of course this diary will start Jan1. no guesses what my NYRes is.

I was wondering if any one wants to try a 10000 steps per day challenge. Can't remeber where but I saw that in order to be at a healthy fitness level 10000 steps per day is the target.

Brilliant:T - there's a few of us doing a half a stone by the end of January then!
I'm going to weigh now as I'll be away on New Years Day and won't be able to use my own (cr*p but consistent) scales.
Inconveniently, Jan 31st is mid week so I vote that we set the end date as Feb
    5th (which is a Monday) - that's 5 weeks in total.

kberry - the 10000 step thing is a great idea to get us all at least part way to the half a stone, I'll dig out the pedometer today and see what a normal day entails! (not that many I suspect)

By the way Blitz ignore the nasty people in the show - next time (which hopefully there won't be) glare at them and tell them very calmly and quietly but confidently that if they don't BOG OFF you'll send the girls round!!! (we'll have them for you!)

Hi there! I haven't been on this site in ages, but I am determined to be a new me for 2007 (i.e. saving money AND losing weight).
I am planning to go back to weightwatchers on Tuesday - I lost 9lb last year on it, but when my friend stopped going, I stopped going - so if she doesn't come with me this Tuesday, I am hoping this thread will spur me on!
I haven't a clue what I weigh yet - my OH has hid the battery for our scales
