    Hi everyone!

I joined this thread last year and did really well, i lost about a stone and a half and got into a size 14 jeans with the odd size 12! Now my 14's are feeling very tight again, i jumped on the scales and have gone back up half a stone! I know its not the most weight ever but its the slippery road!!!

I have forgotten all my dieting tips and food I enjoyed when losing the weight and have been stuffing chocolate and crisps as if they were calorie free!!! agh!!

Can anyone give me some hints to getting on the right track again? :D

Merry xmas and happy new year to you all!!

  • hello can I join this thread? I desperately need to lose weight about 5 stone.I lost some at Slimming World some years ago,but I have completely lost my way. My weight gain started when we had bad neighbours ,very noisy the stress made me eat all the wrong things unfortunately after the fist lot of bad neighbours moved ,we had a further 2 families who wre equally bad.As they were not council tenants there was ittle we could do,(not a lot of money). Now we have really lovely neighbours but I cant break the cycle of eating all the wrong things.I know its damaging my health, but I need some support to help me find a way back on track. I cant go to Slimming World as my local class is held on a day when I am at work .Can you lovely ladies out there help me

can i join too ? all i want , is to loose 2 stone in 2007 ? will it gonna be a too heck of a thing ?advice pls
  • Hi all, glad to be back among you again after all the hustle and bustle (and food!)

I have been very naughty over the last few days (despite all my advice to others :o ) and so I have come here to confess and get absolution!!!

I've got my group tonight (in place of Tuesday when I think it would have been a zero turn-out, lol) so I'm all ready to get back into my SW corset and back on track.

Welcome to the newbies, Poppielia, Mics chick and Lamorna, you've come to the right place for help and support. There are loads of recipes if you go to post 1 and follow the link and anything else you need, just ask and there'll be someone along to help.

A good way to get yourself started is to write a list of reasons you want to lose weight and a list of things which stop you. It may take a few days to get everything down on paper, but when you have, it can be very interesting and often surprising.

We tend to find that we make excuses for not starting to slim such as, I'm going out for a meal on Friday - there's no point in starting before then!! When, in fact, there will always be something going on and we have to learn to deal with it if we're going to be slim for life - which is surely what we're all aiming for.
At SW we always say, it's not will-power, it's choice-power - you choose what you eat and therefore, you choose whether you eat healthily or not.

One of the best New Year Resolutions you could choose for yourself is to drink at least 2 litres of water every single day (more if you're exercising or if the weather's hot). This helps keep the body (and skin) hydrated and it also helps to make you feel full (honestly!).

As Honey has said, don't look at the total amount you want to lose, break it down into easily achievable chunks, such as ½ stone in the first fortnight and about ½ stone each month thereafter. Think how much you could have lost by the summer holidays!!!!!!!!!!!:j :j

There are lots of ways to overcome various cravings - for instance a chocolate craving can often be eased by having a cup of Options to sip. At only 2 syns, this is well within the allowance for a Slimming Worlder and for any calorie counters out there, they are about 40 cals I think.

I'm sure there are going to be lots of people who won't start their healthy eating campaign until January 2nd, but there's no reason why you can't begin now and get a bit of a head start!

Whatever you decide, good luck and a Happy New Year to one and all.
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

Hello and welcome to all the new comers! Everyone is here for the same reason and so there is plenty of support on offer. If you have a look at the first post on this thread (page 1) you will see a link to a recipe collection which we also have. You may find some different recipes on there to start you off. Not sure what plans you are all following but some of you mentioned belonging to SW in the past. Can you dig out your old books and read over them again? Or how about looking on ebay for SW or WW books? Perhaps you could buy the latest magazine for some advice and recipes to start you off.
MrM - 2 stone in a year is very achievable. Break it down though to mini targets eg - to lose half a stone by xx Feb....

We have a weekly weigh in on here which Lois Lane very kindly and professionally manages for us! Normal weigh in is Monday so if you are doing it alone make Monday WI day and update you loss, gain or maintain on here and she will display the results table on a Monday evening. We even have slimmer of the week for extra encouragement!

Whatever way you plan to lose weight I will you all luck, its not an easy task but you have taken the hardest step of all by coming on here and making a start!

I'm off to SW in about an hour to see what damage has been done - wish me (and the scales) luck

Hi Mr M. Of course you can join, the more the merrier :D
The average, healthy rate of weight loss is 1-2 lbs a week, so it is easily possible to lose your 2 stone in a matter of months without starving yourself. In any case, starving is counter-productive - if you don't eat enough, the body thinks there is a shortage of food and will hang grimly on to every last calorie.

Eat plenty of low-fat, low-sugar foods which (happily) includes carbs like potatoes, pasta and rice, skinless chicken and fish. Make sure you have as much fruit and veg as possible each day and of course, 2 litres of water.

Keep posting and let us know how you're doing!

Did anyone see me sneak in and say hi?? :o

I think my post got missed somehow?? :doh:Hello to everyone else who is like me and about to embark on healthy eating to lose weight!! I am looking to go back on Slimming World (just following the plan from home) - has anyone used smoothie recipes to lose weight, a friend of mine did the Jordan smoothie diet, that sounds a bit extreme to me but wondered if the concept could be used alongside a healthy eating diet to fill you up with very few calories??

Honey, thats not too bad a gain, at least you expected it huh!
