As i understand it the OP wanted a written apology from the store manager

Then thats fair enough, why does the OP not phone the local store and ask if it would be possible to arrange a time to go to the store and speak to the manager, the OP would then have a chance to explain face to face what happened and also get a face to face apology from the store manager himself/herself.I would much rather that than a piece of paper saying sorry for your distress,we will undertake staff training in this area in order to avoid such mistakes in the future.

You know that they are not going to do this, that is a letter just to placate you.

Once again i wish the OP luck in there quest.

OP has tried contacting the local store on a number of occasions - manager is avoiding her calls.

IMHO, Morrisons are making themselves look like yet another soulless, faceless, uncaring, profit-driven corporation with this. The had the chance to clear this up with a letter of apology and they have also had the chance to repond to this thread.

    Responses = Nil.

Anyone who works in a "trusted capacity" job just dare not risk having things like this happen to them. So that is Morrisons off the list of "reasonably safe places to shop" list.

    *Sigh*

There is a discussion on Radio 2 right now about police being involved in the collection of supermarket shopping trolleys on the Isle of Sheppey.

Waste of police time or part of their role is the debate.

  • If you actually knew anything about law, legal aid and civil procedure in the Courts, you would know that legal aid is not available for defamation cases.

Your would also know that it is one of the few instances where a civil case is heard by a jury so a Judge would not "urinate" over the case.

Don't really have a clue do you? If you actually want to contribute, sensibly, to the thread, feel free. But please do so from a factually correct position.

You sound like a right barrel of laughs. I think you should meet up with the Op and form a picket line outside the petrol station and see where that gets you. And thanks for your "permission" to allow my posts. Go soak your head.

I was shopping in Morrisons yesterday and survived so it appears it is still a "reasonably safe place to shop".

Thank you for your suggestion but I will decline. I don't think anyone has suggested a picket line outside a petrol station.

You spouted factually inaccurate stuff. I corrected you. Whilst you clearly lack the mettle to say thanks, you could acknowledge your errors with more grace.

Yup, for most people it would be. But some people are in jobs where, if there is even the slightest hint of a suspicion of theft, you find yourself suspended and your desk cleared.

I did one of those type of jobs for years and learnt to avoid the heavy-handed "involve the police first and ask questions later" sort of places/organisations. We can all make mistakes, I'm certainly not immune to them and don't expect other people to be either, but I do expect them to find out what actually happened before contacting the police.

It was just common sense and personal choice for me to avoid places with a reputation for being heavy-handed, there are always alternatives.

If I had been in the OP's situation I would have HAD to report what happened to my boss and have it checked out formally before I'd have been allowed back to work again.

Maybe that is why I take what happened to the OP more seriously than you do.

I have read this thread with amusement, not at the op but at the replies from some people here. OP bought petrol, went home, police arrived because Morrisons made an allegation that she had committed theft of this petrol, Police investigate and found not to be true. OP rightly complains to customer services/head office- is told that complaint has been delt with by store manager and now closed- informs c/s that manager has not spoken to her so complaint reopened, some time later she calls c/s again and told that manager had closed complaint as it had been delt with.

Now quite apart from the worry of being accused of a crime the way the store manager has delt with this is just unreasonable and simply wrong. The manager has to be trusted to deal with complaints- that doesnt mean he can just close them without investigating them or speaking to the customer. I have to say that I would write to the chief exex and complain about the way the complaint has been handled by the store and ask them to investigate and apologise as clearly the store manager has no intention to. It is amazing really- all that needed to happen was the store manager to investigate why this occured, apologise for it and problem solved, but now look at what has happened.....do these places never learn?

What sort of place was that?

A place where if you are questioned, not accused, about an alleged crime you have to report it to your employer?

And if the OP was serious then they would have done something about the situation a long, long time ago:cool:

welcome to the world of the enhanced CRB checks, pleanty of reports around where people have been questioned (because they have been accused) by the police and it shows up years later on an enhanced crb check
