Perhaps they did, and they would have seen OP's partner put petrol in his car, get back in, then drive off without paying. Can you see how the how the mistake was made?
Yes, they should have gone further and checked the CCTV more closely and noticed that OP had infact gone into the shop and paid, but they didn't, it was a mistake made in the heat of the moment when they realised someone had driven off without paying.
As for spending my time on this thread, check mu profile and you'll see I've spend time on quite a few other threads today, what else am I supposed to do when I'm sat here at workAccept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

Why is it some cannot see that? It only needed them to check before they accused and it would not have happened. As far as I can tell, the OP wants a written apology saying how the mistake happened, and hopefully saying that steps have been taken to minimise the risk of it happening in the future.
Looking at the CCTV it's easy to understand why they may have thought it was theft, her husband put the petrol in then didn't go in to pay. Why is it some cannot see that?Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

But why were they looking at the CCTV ? If it was because they suspected a theft, as they were already looking at it why did they not check properly, and see a payment was made for THAT pump at the time the OP's husband had dispensed fuel? Why didn't they see her return to the car before he drove off? Wouldn't that have given them an inkling that she'd paid? Then they could tie that into the inshop CCTV which would show her making a payment at the till. End of problem, nobody's time wasted. Why haven't my husband and I been suspected in over 150 times of doing exactly the same thing? I'm sure we're not the only ones to operate that system. Are you saying hundreds of people get visits from the police because Morrisons are too stupid to check their facts first?
Got to go out now, will check back later0 -

But time wasn't of the essence, nobody was dying, there was no need for rash action without checking. They weren't going to flee the country. Sorry, Morrisons are at fault and make themselves look worse by not issuing a written sincere apology.0 -
Nobody said morrisons were not at fault, but wasting 14 weeks of your life for a letter that when you get it won't mean your neighbours won't have seen see the police knock at your door, jeez.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0

A written apology is no more sincere than a verbal one.0 -

You don't think it's worth it. I don't think it's worth it. But the OP thinks that it is worth it.
The OP isn't doing anything wrong, so either help or leave them alone...0 -
