Very true. I did indeed to a contract that contained free MMS messages. Not a contract that charged me 20p for them.

To be honest, I'm happy with my contract, it suits my needs, and I don't really want to change because my whole family is on o2, so I make use of the free o2 to o2 bolt on. But I object to them changing the terms I agreed to with a few days notice. Surely they must have to give you more notice than that?

Well I will have to add, those that I know or myself that have been with O2 before June , have not recieived the text and still enjoy mms = 4sms plus video calling.

I think your text will arrive shortly informing you of the change, I was with o2 well before June and got it yesterday.
  • I received the same text yesterday regarding charging for MMS. I signed up to an 18 month contract just over a year ago when I bought my iPhone 3GS on the £35 per month tariff. Looks like everyone on pay monthly will be getting the text regarding charging for MMS. Not very happy about the change to be honest!

I've been with o2 for years. When mobile phones with colour screens were just being released lol. And my MMS have always been free (4 sms from my allowance).

I might call consumer direct and see how much notice we should be given for this, just out of curiosity. Although I'd happily cancel my contract and go with a sim only deal.

  • MMS was used very heavily on my O2 Sim Only account which I recently closed. It was one of the reasons why I stayed with O2 for so long. I'm surprised O2 haven't ring fenced their older tariffs from changes. Do they state a date when the charging will begin?

Just spoke to them, apparently the text was sent out in error and only applies to new contracts from June 2010 only - asked them to put a note on my account to confirm this, will have to see what next months bill brings....

I just spoke to them and was told that the change is coming into effect for ALL o2 customers.

  • Contracts taken out after June 2010 do not have MMS included anyway so whoever you spoke to is wrong. I can't see it being sent out in error like the 500MB internet messages people received. They did have the promotion for the unlimited internet but MMS was never included so can't see where the error could arise.
  • Just noticed on O2's website you can now get 50 MMS for £5.

I only received this message today, I'm not happy with being charged never mind the short notice of 3 days!!
