    Just a quickie (oooer;))

Out of curiosity... at what age did you start giving food to your LO's??

Poor Daisy watches us with BIG eyes when we're eating. Makes me feel so guilty... especially when it's a box of chocs!!:rotfl:
Just about 6 months... Once she was able to pick it up and shove it in her mouth...

Without being patronising... Caitlyn watches me with interest when I pee, but I wouldn't dream of potty training her just yet...

Anyone else think the Rimmel mascara looks like a giant green sex aid on the advert? lol
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

I think at that age, the baby is just interested in the big wide world rather than specifically eating as such. We have done BLW so waited until 6 months.

    I like Krystal's post :rotfl:

Squeee, my sister just came to my house and said she had to be somewhere tonight. It was all a secret and then BIL picked her up!

I said "OMG, are you going on a date?" She said no, but they aren't going out with anyone else.

She really fancies him and i think he likes her :j :j

Also, can anyone else get on fb? It wont let me on :(

Susan, I pretty much do the same as you - do something, then tell OH afterwards.

Smartie, we tried Sophie with some fruit puree at about 17 1/2 weeks - she really wasn't impressed. We've decided to go down the BLW route, although we've been giving her sticks of carrot, apple slices, and recently a HM potato wedge, which she happily nommed away at. You're not 'meant' to start BLW until 6 months though, and she's only just 5 months - but I've been using my judgement about what she's been having. She kind of sucks at the carrot and apple, but she ate some of the potato wedge as I found evidence in her nappy.

Bex, with BLW it's not about waiting till a certain age... It's about doing what the baby is capable of... If she's getting food from her tray to her mouth, then she's capable :)

I didn't actually say Daisy maybe ready/we're considering weaning... I just said she likes to watch with "thats not fair" eyes.

See... no wonder people don't like to post here when people jump to the conclusion that I'm feeding Daisy chocolate/food/taking her to McD'S for burger and chips.

Nowhere in post did I state I was thinking about weaning.

I just like to be super organised and have a date in mind to think about introducing solids.

    *wipes trifle from Daisy's mouth*:p

I actually started DS on solids not much older than Daisy but in those days it was normal/ok.... DS is shockingly still alive:eek:

Krystal, she's managing ok. She gives you a disgusted look if you try to put food in her mouth, so she likes to grab it and do it herself. We need a highchair or something for her though before we start giving her much else.

Smartie Miss M stared at me with gigantic longing eyes whenever I ate anything from about 4ish months. She didn't get any solid food till about 6 1/2 months and even then it was just baby porridge; she didn't have any teeth so we were moving slooooowly.

Babies do their stuff when they're ready and their parents feel they're ready. It sounds like Daisy's learning all about how it's done so when she is ready she'll be off to a good start :)

Husband ran out to McDs for some fries last night and Miss M snaffled some of them. She's ok, I don't think occasional junk does them any harm (he did make sure to get fresh unsalted ones though).

I think being able to support their own heads, sit up and losing the reflex that pushes anything that isn't a nipple/bottle teat out of their mouths are the critical bits but someone who knows more than me about weaning will no doubt oblige. Miss M gets mostly grown up food now with occasional toddler meals if we're eating something unsuitable for her. But since she eats dim sum with us very little's actually unsuitable ;)

The thing about BLW is that as long as they're able to manage to eat it themself it should be okay. In the original research they started at four months and the majority of babies actually started consuming stuff at around six months.
