That sounds like Alice sometimes - you speak to her and you know she's heard but it doesn't seem to register in her mind. We've just started making her get dressed/undressed on a bath mat because she'll do things like keep running wildly round her room while you're trying to help her no matter how many times she's been told to stand still. I think it's worked because it makes the instruction more concrete.

I might try that one! I get irritated on a morning as we get washed together and I put her clothes on my bed. I can normally get fully dressed, do my hair and make up, and she's still running about in the nude or with just her knickers on! I have to say "take your pyjamas off" about six times before she does it!

She slept in a bit this morning and I just let her sleep as I wasn't planning on going out. School is closed so we've had a normal-ish day at home with playing, lunch at normal time and no snacks this afternoon. She's cleared a huge plate of pasta and asked for seconds so I gave her some from my plate, then she ate a bowl of chocolate cake and ice cream. She's been much better behaved today, so I think it is a combination of the friend at school and stuffing her face all afternoon while she is there.
Here I go again on my own....

Sami - that was at my employer before the one I've just left, I've had a bad run on jobs - my treatment during my return was one of my reasons for leaving that and having to reapply for my job and them dropping my wage by 2K.
Well I'm glad you don't work there either ;)

I'm worried about finally going back to work again, I swear I'm cursed I was made redundant from my last 3 perm jobs and the temp place I was at last went bust a few months after I left!
I think I need to work at Tesco next, surely they won't be going bust anytime soon!:rotfl:

Becles - I find I have to stand over Chris and bark orders for getting dressed for nursery, I'm there saying "socks on", "underpants on", "trousers on" days when he's not going he'll take himself upstairs and get dressed by himself without any involvement from me!
The very best is sometimes what nature gives us for free.

That's exactly what Alice is like. And she'll start running off while I'm doing the buttons on her dress as if she has no idea that I'm helping her and that she's in the middle of getting dressed.

    Hi all :)

Very liking all these baby and picture updates! :T And lots of nice progressions, it's one of the big fun bits of having a little one, isn't it? :)

Elijah is 28 months now nearly! Time flies. He can do a lot of things, but others not so much... he knows his alphabet and indeed the ABC song, and his numbers to twenty (he has a dislike of 13 though), he can draw some letters now on his chalkboard with varying levels of success.... He likes to "pretend read" where he has memorised his books and can recognise most of the words :) which is very cute.

He is not yet ready to be potty trained we think, we're happy to leave it til after the new one is born and settled... he is very aware now though, whenever he wants to poo he tells us to go away so he can be in private :o often shoving us physically out of the room and shouting at us, then just standing there :p
He also lies about it sometimes... "Are you poopy, mister?", "Noooo. I'm not poopy. Dadden, I'm NOT poopy, dadden!". He is.
Although quote OH emailed me today while I was at work: "My BUTT... is POOPING." *concerned expression*
He does like to sit on the potty off and on and has sometimes peed in it.

He is turning into quite the picky eater, but often we find if we just leave the food with him and go away he ends up eating it, which is fine. I am sad that he used to like bananas but won't touch them any more though.

I will find a current pic to post later :p

Lol, i thought that said "Are you a poopy mister" at first glance :o
  • Lovely pictures everyone :) Have got loads more things done this afternoon. Now sitting down for a rest. Tomorrow we are going to do things as a family, but I will try and get a few extra bits from my list done too. And I think we are going to go to soft play and book Izzy's 2nd Birthday party! And Then Wednesday she is at nursery, and I'm going to continue my spring clean in the morning, then in the afternoon I'm going to get my hair done and buy a party dress for the Christmas season :) I may also get my ears peirced if I'm feeling brave (and depending on how much I spend on hair and dress!) - I used to have them peirced, but started being allergic to everything. But now surgical steel earings are much easier to find (and I know I am ok with that, as my other peircing is fine), I'm going to give it another try. I'm just wary of getting them peirced, then being whacked by an excited toddler!

He'll be blaming you next - this was Alice and OH earlier:
OH: Do you need the toilet?
    A: No I don't need the toilet.
OH: I can smell some smells.
A: I didn't make any smells Daddy - it must be you.
